  • How come the music sounds like it was sped up?

    .

  • @electrictroy2010 Cuz they used to speed 'em up back in the day. They've gone down again.

  • @electrictroy2010 Maybe so that they can play more songs within their allotted time?

  • 23 poeple obviously don't know what good music is (:

  • Just to clarify what the controversy's about, Obama wanted to add high speed rail, Walker said no, and Walker's aide tweeted this video with an attached comment that "President Barack Obama's response to Walker's stand against high-speed rail was contained in a video" (from article "Walker aide's tweet brings racism charge" in the Wisconsin newspaper Journal Sentinel)...so yeah it's a cool video, not necessarily racial, but in that context you can see how it was mean-spirited...

  • first guy in the vid would b my dance partner any day hahaha if i danced haha

  • That girl at 1:51 is delicious looking haha

  • this shit cracks me up. this was the jam back in the day. the dancing/90's styles are too funny

  • lol this is one of the funnier videos I have seen. It's interesting to see how dance moves have changed from then to now. All the old ones are pretty funny to me.

  • I can't believe what I'm reading. The New Dance Show and The Scene had the most racially diverse crowds on television. If you look back at old clips (on this page and my page also) you will see that white people were just as popular on the shows. It really sickens me to know that everything in this country has to be about race since Obama has become President. This was taped in 1996. How come nobody pointed this out when a white man was in office?

  • Yeah black and white people dancing to my favourite grade 4 song is SOOOO racist, wtf people. I smell BS someone is lying or needs to crawl back under their rock.

  • The camera wasn't too interested in that first white guy. Hmmm.

  • @openroad88 duh.

  • Comment removed

  • lol the comments on this really show how politically pathetic we've all become in the 2010s... stop worrying about obama and his administration, put this song on blast and do what there doing in the video... HAVING FUN!

  • I want to see the white dudes moves!!

  • I could watch this video every day. It's great! : ) The girl on the left of the platform looks like Fantasia from American Idol to me.

  • HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA I FUCKING LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! THE SONG AND VIDEO NEEEEVVVVVVVVVVVVVER GETS OLD!!! :) :) :) :)

  • @jazzhandcandy24 the original song and beat by Luke featuring Trick Daddy called Scarred is waYYYY better

  • Yes my friends, the first song is remixed and the second and third joined :D

  • lol @ the awkward white guy

  • Omg, Is nothing in the States nowadays safe from politicization anymore?! Can't wait for the November elections to be over already!

Btw, I just love this track - as well as the dancing! :-)

  • Scott Walker is a simple minded college dropout. One thing he does understand is how to divide segments of the population with the sole intent to get votes. He's been doing it for years. To think this political scam is running for governor of WI is embarrassing.

  • @jetticus54 THANK YOU!

  • Comment removed

  • I live in Milwaukee County where Scott Walker (the WI GOP candidate) is County Supervisor and he absolutely meant for this to be racist. Not only has he gotten elected and re-elected by pandering to the fears and prejudices of suburbanites, but he's the main reason why Milwaukee is one of biggest cities in the US that doesn't have some sort of commuter rail. The people who support him are white-flighters and don't want *AHEM* "urban" residents having access to their precious little suburbs.

  • @BrewNik That's just utter bull$#!+ There was and is nothing racist about this neither was there any "implied" racism as you suggest. The only people who pander to fears in OUR city are the idiots who are trying no forcing us to get an incredibly expensive and a not so high speed rail(for starters: they've got others on the table as well) that no one's going to use. Btw not everyone who's against this dumbass proposal is a "white-flighter" as you again wrongly ASSume.

  • Another thing...most of US black people wouldn't waste our time riding the damn thing anyway.

  • @blkthunderlion2 Look I don't support the train either, I think it's an unnecessary expense BUT Walker's people meant this as racist. I've met many of the people on his campaign personally, and I can tell you a lot of them are completely racist assholes. In fact I've heard them referring to african americans on the north side "that kind" and how they don't need many on the campaign "to keep face." I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but even his supporters said it was horrible his people did this

  • Silly song used to reference a totally dumb billion dollar boondoggle. Nothing more. Nothing less. I'm sick of people seeing racist garbage everywhere you turn because they can't intellectually support their ideas. No matter what the issue is now days the chorus refrain is if you disagree you are a racist. The racist screamers are setting this country backwards.

  • S'all about context, folks. Wisconsin GOP Gov. candidate posted this in response to Obama's speech on High Speed Rail.

This ersatz Soul Train dance line video is harmless fluff on its own, but in the way it was used is another subtle way the GOP reminds its members there's a black man in the white house.

  • I wish i was there gee it looks fun.

  • Whoomp, there it is!!! LOL

  • This is some funny ass shit. What happened to folks really dancing. Obesity was way down then too. We could learn from this.

  • dude, k o just said this is a racially tinged video...now i think the republicans are fing nuts, and the dems arent that much better, but i cannot see how this is racial. dude, theyre just some people dancing who happen to be black. i think people who think this is racial are probably jealous not only that they cant dance, but that they dont even have the sac to attempt to even try.

  • The Wisconsin Democrat party says this video is RACIST!! No kidding, they issued a release today complaining that a GOP candidate's aide posted this on a Twitter feed... they said it proves she is racist. ??????

  • @oldies780 Seriously? FYI to all, this vid is from a locally-produced Detroit TV show in the 90s, which has a respectable following that crosses racial barriers. There's no political statement being made here, just entertainment and sharing local dance history (and music).

  • @aseagris No, what happened was two members of walkers campaign posted this saying it was Obama's reaction to the WI republicans not supporting the creation of the train from Milwaukee to Madison. And that was offensive. The video is not offensive on it's own, but when dirty politicians use it as a way to describe the country's first black president's reaction to debate? It becomes so. And for the record, Walker's own supporters were horrified that his campaign people posted this too.

  • @aseagris the Wisconsin Democratic Party was right . . . in this context, the GOP staffers could have picked any video of any song that refers to a "train" to mock the light-rail proposals, but they chose one from The Scene, a show in Detroit where the dancers were about 90% African-American . . . everyone gets that it was racially motivated and it back-fired on them.

  • @aseagris I enjoyed seeing different people of different ethnic backgrounds dancing together. We spend too much damn time worrying about how someone dances..

Dancing should be something to share and enjoy no matter what your skill level is.

  • @aseagris obviously. thanks though. you saved me from that one that time.

  • @oldies780

I'm surprised people in Wisconsin had ever heard this song in the first place! :-)

  • @oldies780

So the Republicans are racist because they like good music?

    Wtf!

  • @oldies780 I think it was the context that it was used in by the racist Republican Party and not the video itself. But nice try.

  • @tubedweeb I looked it up, and I still think you'd have to want to assume it had racial implications to find them there. "Obama- is black- black people dancing." You'd also be giving implicit consent to the idea that black people dancing is a "symbol" of what having a black identity is about, which really makes the accusers look more racist than the accused.

  • oh shit, white boy got the moves hahaha

  • the white guy in the sport jacket...HA!!

  • This is awesome! And I think that some of these people having fun have actually passed puberty!

  • This was and is the song.

  • Now, this right here, is how you party. Too bad none of that happens when I go to a club. It's all about fights, standing on walls, listening to the wackest mainstream/fake ass hip hop, and not really havin fun. Take this advice from an 18 year old brotha. I knows what I'm talkin' 'bout.

  • @Rileyfree Hell Yea Dude!! I don't understand how can it can someone call it a dance or a club if nobody doin anything? Thats why I have fun MY way. Forget the mainstream stuff, I rock that Fresh Prince of Be-lair Dances. 90's Generation all the way!!!!
