I almost never find Doak in that location. I almost always have to go into one of the labs flanking the locked corridor to find him. Very expertly handled, I am seriously impressed. Doak is perhaps the only element of this level that made this cheat so hard to get.
@kingofthemosh I sometimes look for Doak on his other spawn locations in those last lab roms - don't know why though, because if I have to do that then my record attempt is screwed anyway. <_<

@mikegb3911xx Yes I've been trying to beat this (under 2 minutes no less, none of this under a minute insanity) and from watching this video, I've fucked up about 4 times because I entered the door before it confirmed the objectives had been "completed" and I apparently failed to rendezvous with 006/blow up the tanks. @BongMonster08 Dr Dickheads spawn location is totally random. We have been playing this level a lot of times and hoping for good spawn locations. Yes, most of us use 1.2 control style so we can strafe using the two C buttons.
fantastic! if you've played enough you know it's legit. all the stars need to be in alignment for it to go right (guards, doc in right places). need controller set to solitaire, strafing sideways to go at max speed. this is a thing of beauty!
this fuckin pisses me off trying this cheat, 3 times i got to that bottling room so fast and met alec completed the objective then blow the bottles and it's just "the golden boy a traitor" objective failed. the other one million times doctor dick wasn't in that spot by the bottling room
Same damn thing just happened to me. Just picked this game up recently and started playing it again. I don't get it either... I've killed 006 accidentally before when blowing the tanks in the bottling room and still completed the mission successfully. I thought as long as it says Obj C complete you could kill him and it didnt matter. But i just did this in around 1:40 and blew the tanks after it said C complete then it immediately afterwards said C failed. So what the hell?!?
i played this level all day today. on one of the tries i had to go to two sci labs to find doak. i got everything done opened the door then got shot and died with 2:04 as a time I WAS SOOOOO PISSED OFF!!!! i shut the game off for two hours. then came back after three runs on the fourth try i found doak in the hallway and got 1:34. i know not impressive by gamer elite standards but better then anybody i know. i apologize for not being able to post my run to prove it on 00 Agent sorry :)

I can get the cheat, but no where near as well as this person (I think my best is between 2 and 2.05, the file says 1.53 but I may have used those ingame push button cheats to make me invincible to get that, I havent played it for a while). What I do remember is that it took me three hours practise to get it. But anyone who has the world record would consider getting the cheat a cakewalk.

I didn't finish my 3rd sentence I meant to ask you what your opinions where and compare them to the publics ideas about speed runs. However, I should have thought more about TAS's before commenting. And now I have seen people compare TAS's and Human runs together, which isn't fair at all. Its still in a sense is cheating.

If actually seen a person did did a few TAS runs comment on a human run saying he was better becasue he was faster. A surprising amount of people are forgetting that there is a difference between TAS runs and Human runs and compare them together like human runs.

I did this in 1:42, after many, many tries, and im very familar with running through this level, and it looks to me like this isnt legit. Even though using the C buttons on the N64 makes you run faster, it looks like your going to fast. Also, i dont think you can get the thing from the DR. that fast, you have to talk to him.

okay Mr. Top 10, explain to me how one can tell the difference between playing this level using a tool-assisted speedrun (I'll assume you're familiar with this), and one without? what would I have to look for to find out whether it's fake or not? because I've been watching other GE vids by some of the top WR holders who were, in fact, using TAS to show how several levels (such as Aztec) can be beaten very close (perhaps a little too close) to WR times.
WR times are remotely close to TAS times because we've been competing on speedruns for this game since the game came out, so obviously we are good enough by now to be close to the game's limits. But we are still far behind TAS times: some examples: Dam 00 human WR is 1:57, TAS is 1:48. Caverns 00 human WR 1:37, TAS 1:22! Control 00 human WR 4:11, TAS 3:59 etc etc. How about you actually watch these TASes, they're all on here, and labeled as TAS!
3 Clear-cut differences between human vs. TAS: 1 video quality. You can tell this was recorded on a VCR, as most of us do, including me, and has poor quality unlike playing on an emulator. 2 emulators glitch the sky on outdoor GE levels, watch Rising Tempest's TAS run and you'll see what I mean. 3 a TAS shows PERFECT gameplay. You think this was perfect?? TAS never misses, has all head shots, cuz you can re-do any mistakes. Bryan took 4 shots on the 1st guard, then missed shots at the next 3.
Consider this: WHY would we ALL be making cheated runs like you say? It's not like they're getting us in the Guinness book. We compete against each other! If we were ALL TASing like you think, WE'D ALL HAVE THE SAME TIMES! You think we're just trying to impress ppl on here? The rankings were set up back in 1999, long before YT and emulators too. i played this level all day today. on one of the tries i had to go to two sci labs to find doak. i got everything done opened the door then got shot and died with 2:04 as a time I WAS SOOOOO PISSED OFF!!!! i shut the game off for two hours. then came back after three runs on the fourth try i found doak in the hallway and got 1:34. i know not impressive by gamer elite standards but better then anybody i know. i apologize for not being able to post my run to prove it on 00 Agent sorry :)

I can get the cheat, but no where near as well as this person (I think my best is between 2 and 2.05, the file says 1.53 but I may have used those ingame push button cheats to make me invincible to get that, I havent played it for a while). What I do remember is that it took me three hours practise to get it. But anyone who has the world record would consider getting the cheat a cakewalk.

@mustangGT33 TAS's, are becoming less of demonstration. People are actually using them to gain speed in speed runs in a few speedruns and DLTKs. I didn't finish my 3rd sentence I meant to ask you what your opinions where and compare them to the publics ideas about speed runs. However, I should have thought more about TAS's before commenting. And now I have seen people compare TAS's and Human runs together, which isn't fair at all. Its still in a sense is cheating.

But it’s pretty obvious to the GE community when someone tries to cheat like that so we would’ve caught it by now. I was just confused since your reply was directed at theeliteWRvids, who is ranked even higher than me so he’s just as knowledgeable about this stuff.

Because he made that comment directed at a guy who insisted this 54 run was TASed/cheated etc. And the only way TASes and normal runs are really compared nowadays are to see how much more our human runs can be improved, though of course there are plenty of unknowledgeable players out there who don’t understand the difference, but they’re besides the point.

If actually seen a person did did a few TAS runs comment on a human run saying he was better becasue he was faster. A surprising amount of people are forgetting that there is a difference between TAS runs and Human runs and compare them together like human runs.

you damn right humans can't perform on that level, and the only reason (or should I say the only difference) between that version and the WR version was that this TAS version was MADE TO LOOK like it was using TAS (frame by frame, re-recording emulators, luck-manipulation, etc). the WR version was made to look SLOPPY on purpose to avoid detection!!

it's also funny because they think he didn't get damage. the fact is that he did, but you don't see this, because as he was hit while he was pausing, it didn't show yet, if he would have been hit after unpausing again you would have seen he did take damage. he did take damge but you just can't see it happening in this occasion. but as a pro, you'd obviously be unaware of these facts. and the fact that 1 more hit would not kill him either.

he DID NOT, let me repeat this again because you are obviously blind, he DID NOT take any damage after he unpaused it. from 0:45 to 0:51 (that's a full 6 seconds of standing still, which is FOREVER in 00 Agent difficulty!!) not once did I see any bars going down. tell me how that is possible when you can hear the guards shooting at him? there was only one way that could've happened as a result. he CHEATED.

I did this in 1:42, after many, many tries, and im very familar with running through this level, and it looks to me like this isnt legit. Even though using the C buttons on the N64 makes you run faster, it looks like your going to fast. Also, i dont think you can get the thing from the DR. that fast, you have to talk to him.

well I'm certainly glad to see I'm not the only pro at this game to be using reason, as well as common sense to not be afraid to question how bullshit these WR times really are, especially how this level was beaten (with the help of emulators, I am told, that disguise the cheats being enabled so that you obviously won't even see it appear anywhere in the screen at the beginning).

okay Mr. Top 10, explain to me how one can tell the difference between playing this level using a tool-assisted speedrun (I'll assume you're familiar with this), and one without? what would I have to look for to find out whether it's fake or not? because I've been watching other GE vids by some of the top WR holders who were, in fact, using TAS to show how several levels (such as Aztec) can be beaten very close (perhaps a little too close) to WR times.

WR times are remotely close to TAS times because we've been competing on speedruns for this game since the game came out, so obviously we are good enough by now to be close to the game's limits. But we are still far behind TAS times: some examples: Dam 00 human WR is 1:57, TAS is 1:48. Caverns 00 human WR 1:37, TAS 1:22! Control 00 human WR 4:11, TAS 3:59 etc etc. How about you actually watch these TASes, they're all on here, and labeled as TAS!

3 Clear-cut differences between human vs. TAS: 1 video quality. You can tell this was recorded on a VCR, as most of us do, including me, and has poor quality unlike playing on an emulator. 2 emulators glitch the sky on outdoor GE levels, watch Rising Tempest's TAS run and you'll see what I mean. 3 a TAS shows PERFECT gameplay. You think this was perfect?? TAS never misses, has all head shots, cuz you can re-do any mistakes. Bryan took 4 shots on the 1st guard, then missed shots at the next 3.

uhh, I'm aware of that. the cheats I was referring to were the not-so-common knowledge kind of cheats, like emulator/TAS (Tool-Assisted Speedrun)techniques used specifically for Nintendo consoles and other systems. if you didn't already know, 'TAS' is another word for "cheat". except this kind of cheating is much more strictly advanced and are used only by the most, what I'd like to call 'skillfully-dishonest' players, like members of the GE elite.
