I may sound really stupid, but I don't see how his foot coming off the clutch would force the truck to move. The fact that he is revving the truck for agesss shows he has one foot on the the clutch, one on the acc., so (assuming he hasn't got the hand brake on) the truck is on a flat surface since its not rolling. So if Jim were to shoot him, his foot would come off both the Clutch and acc, meaning the truck wouldn't go anywhere? Am I missing something really obvious?? baha :p
Diesels have alot of torque with or without your foot on the accelerator. Ive driven big rigs before. If you shit it in the lowest gear, and just release the cluth the truck will indeed roll forward without your foot on the accelerator

In the original, Jim was just doing as Ryder asked him to do, but in the remake, Grace wasn't gonna just get in there and talk to him. She had her mind set to blow his brains out. I watched this film though I knew I'd hate it (I'm a scare-dy cat) 1 thing was on my mind with this scene... when they did use horses it tore people in half cos they went in opposite directions. She was between a moving truck&a still one. I'd have thought her thin wrists wouldn't have held the strain to allow her to be ripped in 2. Strong 80s rope? Plus cops could have shot the tyres, or worse held onto her legs though not a nice thought but she'd have lived.
I think not seeing the actual death of ms leighs character just mad ethe image all the more powerful.The remake was just went for gore factor. Thats the difference in decades.
I guess in the 21st century (thats now) they make eye glasses. The rope binding the girl's arm is so entertwine and soaked in oil that knives made in the 80's would need a chainsaw to cut through it all. Cutting the rope with shotgun blasts... thank god your dumbass is not on the police force.
How does intertwined rope covered in oil make it impervious to knives or shotguns? Since knives are silent you could sneak underneath and take a whole minute to cut without getting noticed. And a shotgun blast doesn't have to blow right through the rope, only shred it enough so that it broke before her body did. However chainsaws are so loud he'd hear it immediately and slam the gas before it even got started. Every special Olympian knows it's better to try and fail than to not try at all.

Actually if they climbed under the trailer and then cut the ropes from beneath it there wouldn't really be any way he could have seen them, there is a major blind spot on that part of the truck....my grandpas a truck drive so i've spent a lot of time in 18-wheelers.

I watched this film though I knew I'd hate it (I'm a scare-dy cat) 1 thing was on my mind with this scene... when they did use horses it tore people in half cos they went in opposite directions. She was between a moving truck&a still one. I'd have thought her thin wrists wouldn't have held the strain to allow her to be ripped in 2. Strong 80s rope? Plus cops could have shot the tyres, or worse held onto her legs though not a nice thought but she'd have lived.

I guess in the 21st century (thats now) they make eye glasses. The rope binding the girl's arm is so entertwine and soaked in oil that knives made in the 80's would need a chainsaw to cut through it all. Cutting the rope with shotgun blasts... thank god your dumbass is not on the police force.

How does intertwined rope covered in oil make it impervious to knives or shotguns? Since knives are silent you could sneak underneath and take a whole minute to cut without getting noticed. And a shotgun blast doesn't have to blow right through the rope, only shred it enough so that it broke before her body did. However chainsaws are so loud he'd hear it immediately and slam the gas before it even got started. Every special Olympian knows it's better to try and fail than to not try at all.

One sight in the rear view mirror of anyone getting near the girl and its all over. Powerfull scene with very limit options. Again, sorry for the personal remeark.
