  • Is that the 3.0L 1MZ-FE engine?

  • @SirThomas8, please read the other comments and answers.

  • If you read the q & a's you will see its a 3VZFE engine. I have my MK2v6 for sale at the moment for £2300, to save you converting one yourself !!!! Its had the head flow ported too, so should be putting out more than when I dyno'd it a few years ago. Although the mk2 I have now is a different car.

  • Wow £2300, sound crazy but every now and then I just log on to Youtube just to listen Foxxystoat's awesome MR2 V6 sound. The testarossa sounds just like it, as others have commented

    Legendary car that.

  • Hey mate, nice post. I can't see the spec of this car below, maybe you could put it in the description box?

Did you use a 1mz-fe for this? I'm putting one in my MR2 when I return to England next year.

    Nice vid, great sound!

  • wooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww Great sound!!!!

  • Mr2+v6 = cumface!

  • the sound is just... WOW!

  • how much does it cost to get a v6 engine put into a sw20 cause im thinking about doing it to a spider or aw 11

  • @Davidsway the conversion now costs £2750 drive in drive out, you can DIY it yourself for less than half that.

    twobrutal.co.uk

    Take a look

  • Is it N/A or F/I???

  • @Rafylovepr its a NA. If you read the comments you'll know what engine is in there !

  • Its amazing how close this sounds to the testarossa in this clip!

    youtube string then v=OUcB-8sfUhA&feature=related

  • Its amazing how close this sounds to the testarossa in this clip!

    youtube string then v=OUcB-8sfUhA&feature=related

  • sounds amazing

  • sound really cleann XD

  • what speeds were u up 2 on the straight? sounds really nice

  • OMG that sounds good!

  • oh man... sounds so FUCKING SEXY! definitely gives the car more of that "exotic'ness" now. I wanna do a v6 turbo though =)

  • My mistake, It looks extremely tall compared to a normal turbo lid. Must be the angle of the camera.

  • @a240zt its a normal turbo engine lid

  • What engine cover is that? Is it a Ferrari replica?

I need some extra room to cover my 5vz manifold.

  • Was this conversion done by Woodsport? Whats mods are you running? Headwork, Y Pipe, and the Magnex I guess? Anything else?

  • no headwork, original Y pipe...just magnex.

  • done by woodsport too

  • Sounds spot on!

    Which exhaust is this running?

  • What a noise!!

  • So what's the story? Is it a 1MZ?

  • If you read the comments your know !!

    3vz engine.

  • Sounds amazing.

  • I really love the sound this car makes with that V6 engine! I wonder if it would be possible to put the V8 1uz-fe in there?

  • been done in a MK1!!!

  • yeah but i want one in a mk2, but it would be too heavy and a pain to install.. so i guess future plans for mine would just be the 3vz

  • What engine is this?

  • If you read the comments, your'll know !

  • Ah I see. Was the swap hard? Did you use a guide from somewhere or?

  • lol this is a stock 3vz camry motor, mine sounds really similar with the mr2 turbo muffler and stock camry y-pipe. Love the sound!

and no if you've been in a 355 while flooring it, they sound nothing alike, sorry =(

  • Sounds like ITBs.

  • @n00bSLicer

    Yea, it does for sure

  • Sounds alot better than I expected!

  • Fast shifting!

  • sounds mean

  • That's more induction sound than exhaust isn't it? It really sounds good! A nice induction sound will always rate better than a nice exhaust in my books.

  • I agree

  • Comment removed

  • I still regularly search for this video just to hear that sound.... I fucking love it

  • Go find a video of a Ferrari F355 and tell me how close it sounds.

  • @tcknapp1984 same here 1 time everyday lol

  • nice

  • My 3SGTE is on its last legs [piece of shit]

the only option I can see is the 3VZ-FE conversion.

  • Cars go places :D

  • god, that sounds niice!

  • amazing sound!

  • I'm planning of swaping my engine in my mk2. A v8 will not fit at all unless you do some cuting. I'm currently thinking of a W8 engine. If it doen'S fit, I'll go for a 3vz-fe with a rotrex supercharger.

  • theres peeps done a 4.2 audi engine....ment to be a hoot....dont know what a W8 lump is !!

  • 4.2L audi engine ain't gona fit because there will be interference with the engine block and the right axle.

  • It has been done. Check MR2OC- a guy in Gainesville FL has one.

  • I love the mr2's 3s-gte, but I must admit, that does sound nice!

  • sweeeet ride. am thinkin of buyin a mr2 but not sure which one the turbo ones are. any help ....

  • dam that car soun so rude n mean its wicked

  • damn, that sound is so sweet!

  • ich höre hier den 3,0 l Motor aus dem Camry.

    Beschleunigt super.

  • Hell no! There is no way to fit a V8 in a mk2. The only way is to cut the firewall or trunk off.

  • sick ride how much to convert to v6 with labour and evrythin plannin to do it instead of goin turbo

  • depends were you are, in the uk, £2500 for a drive in , drive out conversion. I'd add £400 for head work, £100 for uprated clutch...add all that up and i'd maybe thinking about buying a rev 3 turbo and throwing £1500 at it.

if you want to do it yourself, a lot less.

  • You should post a Video inside the car so we can take a look at the speedo/tach

  • haha alright i'll do that.

  • thinking about getting one of these next year, what motor did you put in it?

  • if you read the comments, you'll find out !!

  • great sound

  • The motor sounds awesome...like a small displacement V8 like in a ferrari....

  • still puts a grin on my face, even tho i sold it last year...DOH DOH !

  • Nice Buddy how did u fit it? was it easy or hard? Go CAmry! There V6s are the best for any car or project Got Guts too

  • Woodsport fitted it, but you can DIY i reacon.

    Fits well in there !!

    :)

  • Dayumm nice noise!

  • that sounds so good, like soo sooo good, I am going to reproduce that sound in my garage one way or another, I'll get back to you with a follow up video lol

  • Sounds definitly like a 6 cilinder. More like a Porsche engine....boxer 6 cilinder. Not a V6. Yes it must be a Porsche engine, but very very nice sound!

  • Nope definately not a boxer, this is 100% toyota camry engine vintage 1991-1994 (3vz phase 1) with 154.4rwhp recorded on dyno.

    I checked just yesterday. :)

  • very nice sound, how much was the conversion as just seen the car on IMOC, Am thinking of doin the same to my rev1 mk2

  • Hey guys, I own a rev 2 tubby and am considering swapping it for a V6, I was just wondering if the insurance was any higher for putting in the new motor or if it stayed about the same? Ta! That thing sounds awesome!!

  • It depends on your insurance company at the end of the day, but most see a fall in price.

  • there'd b absolutely no way you could fit a 2j into an MR2 would there?

  • You are right...no way a 2J will fit !

Buy with 3.4 v6 engines with turbos on....you wouldnt need to !!

    :)

  • thats not true. you can make anything fit. people on the website are puttin a LS1 into a MR2 at the moment.

  • v8's are being currently fitted in MK2's.....

3 ltr straight 6 2j engine wont fit without lots of mods to the engine bay.

with a V8 in a MK2, you can make the engine bay wider and it should fit, straight 6 tho, you'd lose space in the cabin.

  • mate is this the camry v6? if so have you blown up any gearboxes yet? im going to be putting the quad cam 6 from a 2000+camry in an na sw20.

    is that what this is?

  • hi

when the engine was put in, the original gearbox fell apart, not related tho as the car had done 150K miles. It was a L reg 1993 uk car rev2 that was quite badly rusty, i think theres something about uk L reg rev2's, they must of been late registered Friday cars!

After a rev 3 box was put in and a lot of hard miles, it never had any issues.

    It was a 3VZFE from a 1995 camry. I see your using a 1MZ, should be a-ok as long as your SW20 isnt a rev1 .

  • i didnt know the 3vzfe went so hard have you got any mods like a microtech ecu and exhaust etc,

theres millions of 3vzfe's here in aus so i may go for one because they are cheaper. cheers mate

  • only mod was magnex back box. you really need to get the heads flowed and a good Y pipe.

If you get yourself over to twobrutal ( do a google search ) theres more than enough info about 3VZ and 1MZ...theres guys on there who have turbo'd the 3VZ and supercharged the 1MZ.

  • im thinking camshafts and computer, fuel pump, injectors and port and polished heads.

  • I did the y-pipe on this car before I sold it on. Totally changed the exhaust sound for the worse. :(

  • oh god wow that sounds so amazinnnnnnng

  • Nice WB !

  • stock us mister two = slow but SOO easy to make fast. v6 is harder to make fast.

  • Your ignorant

  • sounds gr8!, got mr2 turbo myself, is v6 conversion quicker?

  • I would say it depends on your mechanical skills. I believe ultimately you can still run more boost on the 3sgte considering it has an iron block and the 1mz fe is all aluminum (not sure about the more recent models). But the 6 cyl weighs a whole 100lbs less so it's mostly personal preference + mechanical inclination and money

  • I am converting my MR2 with a 3vz-fe motor with the iron block and will be supercharging. but yeah NA V6 beats the stock turbo, but who has a stock turbo these days. however the response and sound of the V6 is oh soo good :)

  • Stock turbo against the v6, v6 is quicker.

Modded turbo would be quicker although from past experiance, my turbo went tits up after upping the boost !!

  • stock US turbo against v6, v6 is quicker.

Gen III 3sgte found in the JDM MR2 turbo is faster than a v6 swapped MKII MR2 if neither are modified otherwise.

    car sounds great!

  • Hi,

I think I'd like to comment on this, having owned both. The turbo was a Rev3 with filter, decat, and single exit hks exhaust but no boost controller so maybe increase 1psi boost due to decat/exhaust, either way it felt like a 250+bhp mr2. And I now own the foxxxxxxystoat v6 :)

Im know that in road conditions the v6 is slightly the more capable of the two cars I owned. And the speedo backs that view ;).

    Just my experience.

    Regards

  • I want, so bad, to put the 5VZ-FE in mine. It's in my g/f's 4runner... I want it, and a TRD super wouldnt be to bad either...

  • lovely! didnt know you v6'd it! its jimjams off the mr2oc btw!

  • yeah, i'd of bought it back if i had the stirlings !!!

  • you sold? silly girl! lol

  • THANX GUYS! LOLZ! I LUV IT! But which camry? Altise? 2003?

  • do a google search on the engine code !!

  • But I wanna know 'cause I'm thinking of buying an MR2 myself. I thought MR2s' only had 4cyl engines. So, was that factory standard or did you "liberate" the engine from another car? Did you order it from Japan? Was it pre-owened? if so did you and the engine was liberated did you do it or the person before? Please tell me. I'm a drift nut looking for a fast, cheap, mid engine with lots of ponies~!

  • It's from a Toyota Camry, the V6 engine bolts straight onto the MR2 gearbox.

  • Search for Woodsport - they've carried out lots of the conversions.

  • 3VZFE engine from a Camry from UK

  • O M G! Best sounding MR2 I have heard to date. Period. I can only imagine what driving it feels like. Good job! Oh, and sounds like good shifting work :P

  • It sounds like an old 1990 Carrera.

  • We mean that this car doesn't sound like an

MR2 with the v6 installed. It doesn't even sound Japanese. If you type in MR2 V6 in to the search, listen to the video of the Black MR2 V6 with eurostyle tail lights, and then type in ferrari Dino, the sound of there exhaust being reved up sounds very similiar.

  • ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR i see !

    :)

  • With this exhaust it does sound more like a Porsche, but with the different exhaust, I was say it would sound more like a Ferrari. Also the angle of the video makes the air intrude on the sound.

  • What the donald duck are you lot on about.......MR2 !!!

how can you you say it would sound like a ferrari with a different exhaust?!?!?!?!?

it had a Magnex back box on....most n/a back boxes will sound similar.

    :)

  • FUCKING NICE CAR:D

  • No, really the sound's more like a Porsche Carrera with this typical Boxer Sound, I love that sound. Do you can say me

how many HP has your MR2?

  • Amazing!! The sound's like a Porsche!!

  • holy sh!t! it sounds like a ferrari!

  • about 6000 rpm

  • awesome! wich is the max RPM of this motor :?

  • sounds crazy

  • hey wayne good to see the vid is still a big hit matey! tommy around 190bhp and yes... next question you will ask is how a 190bhp engine beats a 220bhp turbo one? all in the torque fella... bhp is for down the pub, right foxy? :)

  • you said it my man !!

  • hi what bhp is it putting out? is it faster than a standard turbo mr2?

  • Probably one of my favorite V6 MR2 vids. While you're rockin the 3VZ, I'll be having fun with my 1MZ MR2. Cheers!

Sounds great. How high were you revving to? I'm sure the thing sounds wicked at 7000rpm+. It's too bad my 1MZ can't rev as high.

  • I opted to swap the gen 3 3sgte instead of a v6, but I'm almost wishing I hadn't! amazing car...

  • i need a job..this mr2is my fav color and ...that...sound...is...soooooooooooooo....coooooooooooooooool...lol if i had this car i could show that civic si boi up a wall

  • I think i just cum in my pants I need to be alone wiht that sound clip!

  • cheers for that.....£3000 and the car is yours !!

  • uhh...how much is that in $?

  • If I lived in the UK, I;d take you up on that.

  • wow....

  • did you sell this m8? i'm looking for one, are they cheaper to insure than the tubby?

  • Hi

havent sold it !! it was £50 cheaper than a turbo to insure and an agreed value policy !!

If i cant sell it, i'll be taking the engine out and turboing it in a few months.

    W

  • fuckin beauty

  • sounds really good, seen it advertised on ebay looks really nice aswell.

  • 187 at the fly?that sounds kinda low for a v6 is it force fed?any mods?whats up with that?

  • its a standard engine, the 3vz fe is 187hp from new.

Theres 15-20% gains from porting the heads and re-work the Y piece on the exhaust, alter the fueling on the AFM and you'll have a bit more.

The FE on toyota engines is the small valve fuel economy engines.

Not about the hp, its about torque and how soon it produces the torque.

    :)

  • rofl i just keep watching and watching this vid

    mr2s rock ^-^

  • so did i !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im 16 and on my way to geting an mr2...what engine did u put in?aftermarket? camry? other toyota?or what... i need to know were the engine came from

ps:whatever exaust system u got on that car it rocks

  • if you read the comments, theres all the info !

    Its a magnex backbox.

The car is for sale at the mo!

    :)

  • cool lol i just read the first page most of the time

    -.-

  • My Vauxhall Vectra pisses over this all day.

  • joe...you are a NOB !

  • Yeah, and your be driving another one of my motors soon! lol

    Who's the Nob?

  • Very crazzy and impressive!!!

  • Hey awesome swap, what kind of exhaust do you have on it it sounds crazy!!!!

  • hi

its a magnex back box, but the noise you can isn't the exhaust !! ;)

  • The intake? If so what have you done to it? :)

  • do what??

    The 2.0 16v engine has been swopped for a 3.0 24v V6 !!

  • Lol what im trying to get at is my 3vz sounds nothing like that.

  • arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, alls there is is a cone filter and a lot of right foot ! the n/a magnex is very quiet, compared to a few back boxes out there.

Do you get a change in engine noise when you hit 4500rpm?

  • Thats it? Sounds amazing.

And yes i do its mostly due to the ACIS shortening the air flow path to the intake manifold under heavy throttle.

  • awesome sound

  • Is this a 3VZ, 5VZ. those seem to be the most common V6 swaps. Or was it a 1MZFE, I have seen one of those swapped too.

  • damn what was the name of the shop? maybe i can check it out here. what was the engine code you put in?

  • how much for the swap?? and mph? lol

  • between £1800-£2500 + options of turbo, supercharger, head work etc etc

    mph - classified

  • what speed were you getting to?

where did you get this done?

i want one then im bolting on the gt35r :-P

  • hi...

was doing more than the speed limit, shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh !!!

had to done at Woodsport in Durham

  • Did you have to change the rear axle?

  • there isnt a rear axel on mr2's!

  • Ok, sorry. Just very curious. Did you have to mod anything then?

  • a few bits, but not as much as you may think.

  • mint engine sound just bought a ferrari replica with same engine oh how i cant wait!!!!

  • Thats awesome

  • should put a Ferrari body kit on it cause sounds like one!!!

  • man.. thats just pure car soundography... excellent work.

    Pok

  • sounds so nice

  • Very nice mate. Sounds great. I'm very tempted to do this on my MR2 G-Limited. Good solid and reliable unlike a turbo.

  • ouch i thuoght they were about 200 usually. Which block did you go for 1MZ-FE or 3VZ-FE
