Great demo &I Great playing! from what Ive read about this pedal it will give a tube sound to a solid state amp because it has a tube in the pedal. Would you think that to be accurate? thanks!
Respond to this video... Well I can say it makes a solid state sound better as I've gigged a solid state amp with this pedal and achieved some great sounds. I'm not sure if it can replace a tube amp entirely though.
Have you tried using the thing in the FX Loop of an amp? I KNOW.... Stupid idea, but I tried it. It's a usually cardinal sin to put any sort of drive into the chain that way as the FX loop is mainly for Chorus....BUT.... I can get some great tonal changes, and the sound (blend) is now much more controllable.
woah :L your like a rly clean player :L nice playin (: i bought this pedal nearly a year ago, and i love it! i can get anythin frm led zepplin to metallica to oasis to foo fighters outta it (: its awesome (Y)
Hi, I've just bought a HT-Boost and I'm asking if the HT-dual can do the same thing than a HT-boost + overdrive ? Can I get the clean and warm sound withe the HT-Dual like a HT-Bost ? Thanks a lot for your answer.
I am a japanese.i have played the guitar for 4 years.
I always hate myleft hand. because it is too small.so,I can't play stretch frase well.but ,Other country people has big hands.I hope my hand would be big.
You have nice tone. I also have this effector too.but I can't play with like your tone.
im selling my rat 2 and bad monkey to fund this, im hoping it could be my one pedal that can do everthing i need! i intend to run it in front of my classic 50 for oasis/britrock tones in my band..
I do use a Tele with this pedal and if you crank up the gain (a little bit more than you would with 'buckers) you can get some great sounds happening. I tend to set everything at 12 o clock, then just tweak it to my own taste. I usually set the ISF to the 'UK' setting for that 60's classic 'mid-honk!'. It's all about experimentation. You have a great guitar and amp there so persevere and you'll find something that pleases you. Cheers, Matt.
wow. ive had my blackstar for a year and have had real probs trying to understand it. i let it ruble around in my bag when i go for reharsal, when i plug it in i hope for the best, sometimes its awesome, sometimes i have to knob around for a long time to get it to work. this may be my first step in understanding basic guitar sounds haha!
Yup. That's why I bought it, it's very convenient for gigs and I don't think it's that big. Not when you compare it to similar pedals like the Mesa V-Twin.
Well, unfortunately with this pedal, you have to EQ channels 1&2 the same, so I usually set it up like this Bass:5 Mid: 6 Trb: 4 and the ISF: 10 (Brit setting). I use channel 1 as a clean boost/Overdrive with the button pressed in with the gain at 3 and channel 2 as a Distortion with the gain at 5. Hope that helps.M.
hi ive just got one of these had a few weeks and its a a great pedal. it sounds rocking through a tube screamer. im over the moon and in the same situation where ive got a fender blues deluxe and wanted a high gain marshall like distortion this deffinatly delivers. oh and great playing man really impressive enjoyed watching.
i have the tubescreamer with the drive all the way up the tone at 12 and the volume at 11. i use the overdrive channel as i jsut prefere overdrive to distortion because of the clarity of notes and pick attack. on the dual i have the gain nearly all the way up with bass at 7 mids at 7 and treble at 5. and i vary using the isf control
Thanks bro. This stuff is all just generic improv to demo the pedal tones. I wasn't intentionally playing anything, I'm sure there's a few songs from other people creeping in there, but I'm not sure what they are!
Can't agree more. POD? No way. Had a few of those......nothing responds to picking dynamics and guitar volume knob rotation like the real thing. A few companies have some decent digital stuff but Line 6.............. good for recording. Not live. Everyone has an opinion.
also, i see buttons for channel 1 and channel 2, but how do you footswitch the pedal back into bypass mode? do you just press the channel select button again?
amazing tone and amazing playing! probably one of my favorite youtube guitar vids.
i'm thinking of getting an HT dual soon. my plan is to run it in front of a JCM 800 set to a mostly clean tone (but with a bit of breakup when you strum hard), and use that for my "clean" tone. then stomping on the HT for mid gain (ch1) and hi gain (ch2) tones. the only thing i'm worried about is that i've heard that ch2 is way darker than ch1, and that can be a problem with shared EQ. care to shed some light?
Yo get a power supply with it, but it is a weird 16v one, which I think is pretty hard to come by. I'm just hoping this thing doesn't crap out at a gig one night, if it does, I'll be emailing Blackstar!
Nice playing. Nice tone. I hope you're playing through a solid-state amp? Otherwise a demo is worthless. I'm stuck with a Fender solid-state amp (broke musician). Thinking of getting this, sounds awesome.
was wondering if i threw this in front of my vetta combo amp to give it more tube feel. and response....would this help???? im thinking about getting this or the seymour duncan twin tube pedal but i really like this one so far....
get this pedal. the duncan twin tube sounds so trebly. then again they use smaller tubes (sub miniature) rather than the nice 12ax7's (that you can switch) on this one, which gives you a nice smooth midrange and low-mid crunch
Omg man, nice playing :) I especially like the british high gain part! (0.55 - 2.10).. all improv I suppose?
I just got the blackstar ht-5 tube head, based on the ht-dual pedal.. sounds awesome as well! (I use a bad monkey on top of it, for boost/overdrive, didn't have the money for anything better yet :P)
Ok, that makes sense. Those are the best amps when I try out guitars to see what they got (even without any pedals). I think I will finally get one to go with the pedal. This is more the sound I want, too many people sound like Jeff Loomis already (which is cool but my ears are getting old I guess haha).
This heavy chunky pedal with weird 16 volt wart that doesn't plug into my brick has a honored place on my board in front of a Fulltone GT500. You didn't demo the great harmonics this thing gets at lower volume! Mastadons Bill Killiher found that he could get some even cooler tones and reduce feedback playing with different valves... Tempted...
Cheers man, yup this demo was a bit of a rush job. I will feature this pedal in future vids though as it's so versatile. The HT-Dual is like a budget Mesa V Twin (people keep telling me) that doesn't take up so much space on your board and a lot cheaper!. Pity about the awkward 16v power supply, where the fuck are you supposed to get a replacement when you need one? Blackstar I suppose.
I came here looking for a video demo of the HT-Dual after reading rave reviews @ Musicians Fiend ;^) Thanks for putting together one where you "shut up & play yer guitar!" The tone is what I want to hear, not someone talking about it.
You're a good picker, btw, & not a big showoff...thanks for the demo.
The best overdrive/distortion pedal on the market IMO and I've had lots and lots of them! This pedal is capable of a wide variety of tones offering something for everyone. I'm gonna shut my mouth now, I'm not trying to sell them!!
I wish I had one of these to add the authentic tube overdrive element to my raven solid state amp I just got. I like the solid state wet and messy sound, but I like the marshall overdrive a lot also.
hey man i've seen quite a few of your vids now. First the Pocket pod demo, now i'm planning on moving up. I'm looking into this pedal or a solid state Fulltone GT-500. I'm sold on he tone and features of this thing, but was wondering about one thing. How are the harmonics(pinch and artificials) from this thing. I've heard a review where a guy couldn't get enough harmonics. Doesn't seem that way from this vid though, judging by the sustain. Any truth to this? Thanks.

ive played the ht-dist which is the same thing just one channel and i love it, gain set low makes a good warm overdrive, 1 o clock santanaish 4 oclock AC/DC any higher is great for hard rock and metal stuff
Sounds like you had the same dilemma as me, I've got a Peavey classic 50 212, the clean channel is awesome but I've never been pleased with the overdrive sound. I wanted something to give me a good crunch but also simple switching to a more saturated lead tone, from crunch or clean. This pedal looks like the answer to my prayers.
My favorite sound is Channel 2: Gain: 12:30 Bass: 12:00 Mid: 3:00 Treb: 1:30 - 2:00 Inf: 4:00 On your amps clean channel with also: Bass: 12:00 Mid: 3:00 Treb: 1:30 - 2:00 That gives you an aweseome punchy heavy crucnh sounf, I love it.
Hi Matt, very nice playing.I agree,That pedal has Great Tone.55 Stars.tomtiddler brought your video to my attention. Thanks tomtiddler.Have a nice weekend.
Hello, first of all congratulations, you're really good, nice .... second foot, the eye and tell me I am a curiosity, which uses EQ for pedals in british sound? Thanks and regards.
it really sounds like a marshall.. sweet! Is any other thing connected with it? I mean its only the Blackstar and the Amp? Right? Oh .. of ourse the guitar too...lol
I know it is an 12AX7, but do you know the manufacturer?
It might be fun to try out several different brands in it to see if you like one more than another and see if one brand is smoother or breaks up faster, etc...
I'm just running GT 6L6R(B)s in the Twin. I had to replace them recently and couldn't find anyone locally who could rebias it so I just replaced the stock tubes with the same ones. Thanks for the comment man!

I can, ONLY, afford one pedal for soaring overdrive lead work. Should I get the Blackstar or the Boss Metal zone?
Mind you, it's not for chords but mainly lead work, requiring long singing sustains.
What is everyone opinion, out there?
WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST PEDAL TO GET, IF ONLY 1?
I will be putting it in front of my vintage Fender amp.
thanks

Hello, first of all congratulations, you're really good, nice .... second foot, the eye and tell me I am a curiosity, which uses EQ for pedals in british sound? Thanks and regards.

Greta! This pedal seems to sound better than a lot of Marshalls I think

yeah most Marshalls always have that harsh treble-y sound to my ears. This is perfect- smooth and chunky.

If you plugged into ANY reasonable amp you would sound fucking awesome.
You sir are an inspiration to ALL you tube guitarists.

Oh yeah, what tube is in that pedal?
I know it is an 12AX7, but do you know the manufacturer?
It might be fun to try out several different brands in it to see if you like one more than another and see if one brand is smoother or breaks up faster, etc...

I'm pretty sure the stock 12AX7 is a Sovtek, that's what the guys on the forums say. I like the idea of a bit of experimentation though!

Sweet! Great tones! Having a great guitar doesn't hurt either.
Do you have a drum machine? I'd love to hear some of your great demo's with this new pedal once you've had some time to thrash it out a little.
What tubes are you running in your Twin Reverb?
Soujurn 2 years ago
I'm just running GT 6L6R(B)s in the Twin. I had to replace them recently and couldn't find anyone locally who could rebias it so I just replaced the stock tubes with the same ones. Thanks for the comment man!
