This is one of those pieces that are not too complicated but can provide a wonderful effect and a really nice choral experience. great performance, nice work guys!!! thanx for uploading it
You think so? where are you from? well, us, the latin people have this advantage about rythms, specially those of us located on the caribean, like Venezuela.
But even, if you find it complicated, that increases the work, which makes the result even more satisfactory. XOXO
I'm from Kentucky, Of course, we are known for bluegrass music. You have to keep rhythm with no drums. I'm pretty good at it, so it wasn't too complicated for me. But we had a lot of guys bitching about how difficult it was but eventually we worked out our rhythm problems. It made for a fantastic performance. I was dancing the whole song. The guy beside me had the AUDACITY to reach over and grab my arm trying to stop me. Claimed I was in "his" space. Got To go, P.S. It was satisfactory. lol
Lol... Well, about tha space thing, it must be complicated when you are in such a large group, luckily my choir doesn't even make it to 30 people, so that kind of issues are not too comun...
It's great not just to see that performing, but to get to know the performers impressions, such as yours...
My choir's name is Cantoria de Merida, from Merida, Venezuela. There are some videos around here...
I was in Kentucky All State And we had 200 men 200...! MEN! Aggggh! The guy standing beside me was a dick anyway. It wasn't too badly crowded on the stage. I had such a great time. BTW ¿Eres tú bilingüe?
It is obvious that a lot of effort went into arranging the song. Singing a song not only in a different language, but also from a different culture, can be a real challenge. I guess this is the closest they could get to the real thing. Give them some slack. Anybody who critices this should try singing in Chinese or Korean. Good work guys!

I went to the UMMGC Vocal Arts Day, where all the high school choir singers get together from all over Michigan to sing together, and they did this song. Favorite song of mine that they have done.
The director is funny too. "Mr. Man" he would call anyone he didn't know.
We sang the arrangement faithfully, and then added the break/dance section and the repeat. The arranger, Derek Bermel, came to hear us rehearse, and indicated how he would like to hear it done, and that's pretty much how we did it. It may not have too much similarity to Kpanlogo as it is sung in Ghana, but we sang the version by Santa Barbara Music Publishing as it was intended to be sung. I can't see how that's in bad taste. As regards the words, many of them are meant to be nonsensical.
For non Ghanaians singing this song, this is awesome and funny.... definitely a favorite for me. Good voices, nice setup and you can tell some good effort went into the making of it.
I think you guys should try the "Kro he Kro" song as well.
It is interesting that others are interested in learning songs from other parts of the world especially Africa. But, please do it in good taste. That song is from Ghana and no word in there sounded anything close to the Kpanlogo as Ghanaians call it. I did not find it amusing at all.
I don't think this song was done in a comedic or satirical way. It may not sound like the song you know because it is probably a different arrangement with similar words. People are laughing because seeing white boys dance like that is quite funny, at least that's why I was laughing. I wasn't laughing at the words, or the fact that it is a Ghanaian song.
Pls do me a favor and ignore her. I loved every piece of it. Some people just don't appreciate hearing different versions of what they are used to. Well done boys...Ayekoo (means welldone). Keep doing ur thg and don't let such negativity impede ur progress.
This was written by a white guy who got inspiration from the songs he heard in Africa. It is in no way a traditional song. It was just a fun song to sing.
zero black guys. lolz.

Not Too Complicated? The rhythms are difficult. That's the hard part.
