I agree with rovezzanop.

Of course you get roach poles, they origionated on the river Thames and river Lea many years ago, made of cane and even whalebone for the rod tip.

This then evolved with technology into the modern carbon fibre roach poles we have today. They are now commonly just called 'poles' because you can catch many different species on it, but essentially, it is just a modern roach pole.

Just like the carp fishing, this match angling isn't for me.... too, too slow. You can see Alan Hanna tries to inject a bit of enthusiasm into it, but he too is a man for the thrill of the big strike and the big fish. Keep to the sea and the fast rivers Alan, or you'll lose your sanity!
