This is kinda of silly. Most people will not be shooting in such dark conditions. A better comparison would have been shooting indoors where there is some ambient natural light and comparing that with the gadget's light turned on.

while I agree with you that most would not be shooting in such dark conditions, this would work well for a situation where say your shooting your kids outside at the park, or in the back yard near dusk, from MOST cameras without a flash involved you can't see anything, with this you could most likely get a pretty good picture from it.
