  • Gotta be powered by English Electric - sounds just like our old 1200 and 1250 Classes.

  • Saw 37417 at the back of Eastleigh EWS depot today, without nameplates and looking very sorry for itself!

Nice to have a video like this to remember it by!

  • @Commander301 Glad it's still alive then! LOL Cheers for commenting.

  • @theamateurbasher Still alive..? Well, maybe just, but it's a shadow of its former self! It is currently stored in the "dead" row with two Fertis 56s, so who knows exactly what will happen next..

  • @Commander301 A far cry from three years ago (this month), when I bashed 37417, along with 37401, from Warrington to Cardiff and back.

  • cool vid mate. :)

  • @camothegr8 Cheers.

  • Both loco's need engeneers? Or the lead one commands the other throttle and brakes?

  • @herrfilip I'm not exactly sure, sorry.

  • @herrfilip No,the locos are operated in tandem by one driver in the lead locomotive,Class 37s were routinely used in multiple during their careers from the early 1960s, Locos used in triple were not uncommon and also on occasions 4 locos coupled together on heavy aggregates trains.

  • @MrJames27011 Thanks for clearing that up MrJames27011.

  • Can't tell why this has 14, 000 views!

    Awesome vid, bloody hellfire!

  • @37401MadRich Getting pretty close to 15,000 from the look of things! LOL

    Cheers 37401MadRich.

  • i saw 37410 yesterday parked up in a siding next to the britannia stadium here in stoke

  • @themarcrpearson Thanks. Glad to hear she's still around!

  • Superb noise

  • @dragonwelshuk Aye, it was. Cheers!

  • 37417 appears to have been scrapped now! DBS have her name plates up for sale on the disposals page... 37410 is undergoing testing apparantly and will be in mainline traffic again soon! Excellent video! 5*

  • R.I.P my beast (well, my most photted, videoed and bashed beast anyway)! :-(

Good to hear though that 410 might be on the way back. Cheers!

  • Pendolinos, or as my mate who works up at Oxenholme calls them 'Bendydildos' LOL

  • damn right theamateurbasher, do they use re-classified class 56's now?

  • It's now mostly 47's, 57's, 66's and 67's (along with the usual flux of pendolinos and voyagers). 56's may be returning soon though, but that's just rumour at the moment.

  • AWESOME!...reminds me of the old ECC double head 37's we always used to get thundering Northbound through Oxenholme and then hammering up Shap....could hear them for miles on a clear night!

  • If only there were more of these thundering up Shap right now...

    Thanks TraineeGynaecologist!

  • Sends a shiver down you spine doesn't it! This is a great video amateurbasher, it perfectly captures the 'earthquake' you get if you're on the platform when one of these beauties pulls away. Class 37's really are the best loco ever made in my view.

I wonder if an English Electric 12CSVT would fit under my Focus bonnet? Not good mpg but what a ride!!

  • Thanks very much neo196910! And a good idea about fitting an EE 12CSVT engine in your Ford Focus!

  • Hellfire departure!! Excellent footage there!

  • Cheers!

  • Brings back happy memories of double headed 37s on limestone trains in Derbyshire back in the '80s (sniff) :-)))))

  • Cheers Isochest.

  • Great footage.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks!

  • CLAG and what a departure shame 410 is stored =[

  • A sad shame indeed. Cheers fergfergferg123!

  • *Zontar* Sing My Beuteys * Sing To Daddy! *Zontar*

The * in the middle of the above message means spelling.

  • LOL!

  • that one actually sounds like richard trevivick, good montage of rolling stock

  • Thanks v1v3k31.

  • great video, BEASTS :P

  • They sure are PoliceAndTrainMadNat! Shame 37410's in store at the moment; I sure hope EWS will consider reinstating her at some point. Thank you kindly for the comment!

  • no problem :)

  • ... Then David realised that the train he just filmed was the one he was supposed to be on!

    Nice One Mate

  • LOL! I was just content with seeing these beasts that day, though I ended up bashing 417 again seven months later. Cheers D335Media!

  • English Electric music! Nothing better!!!!!!!!! Give it the beans!

  • They must have eaten more that one can of the stuff, LOL! Cheers sd70ace1!

  • No one was "flailing" as it was distinctly average that day...

  • Thought so to. Thanks D664!

  • Why the hell was nobody on the platform flailing?!

  • The lack of flailing that day was strange indeed. I don't really know why no one was flailing either, on the platform or on the train. I think those on board must have waited till they were out of sight before letting loose with the flailing. Cheers for viewing and commenting anyway rickstakeboard!

  • No no, cheers for posting the clip - It's ruined me (in a good way)!

  • Oh, you're very welcome. Ruined you in a good way? Oh dear. Btw, check out my channel for more 37 action, including a photographic tribute! And also, more on my fotopic site, follow the link in my channel description.

  • I'll do that. If I'd have been there my arm would have been very tired. EE type 3s rule!

  • You're darn right there! Shame they're on borrowed time with EWS.

  • Cheers FlyingEnglishman. Possibly one of the greatest English Electric products, after the 50's, 40's 55's and other things EE.

  • Yeah man, Clag it all the way. Excellent stuff.

  • Yep. There's only seven of 'em left working for EWS, but they're still doing the business as they should! Cheers gronkstergronk!

  • Spot on, carl1892. Cheers!

  • Brill-as you say Crank up the speakers.

    Nice one.

  • That was the most appropriate piece of advice I could give for this; they really kicked out a fair bit of clag as well. Cheers tambarum!

  • Think You should change to theprofessionalbasher.

I used to live in Preston.

    Will favoutite This.Thanks.

  • theprofessionalbasher eh? Like the idea, but it'll be some time before that happens; I'm still an amateur videographer and photographer for the moment (but gradually improving) and I wish it was possible to edit your username. I'm not from Preston btw, I'm from St Helens; I was just visiting the station primarily for this.

I also have a fotopic site, check out my channel and follow the link.

    Thanks tambarum!

  • damn my spare turn keeping me away from such fantastic locomotives

  • Oh dear. If you check out my fotopic site, there's a couple more treats as well. Thanks olympian2174.

  • woww!!!! hellfire!!!!!! 5/5
