  • I'm lost

  • ok..i was doing good on the first two videos, but now you lost me-.-

  • ???

  • hes sounds like El Bundy looool but hes good do !

  • Thanks

Got my guitar just today so interested I couldn't wait to learn

    So I started today itself

    Thanks so much

  • this helped so much!!!!!! thank you!!!

  • I just started on guitar, my first instrument of any kind. I was REALLY annoyed how every book and video assumes a level of knowledge I don't have. I'm only on #4 of this series, but so far this is the best series for an absolute beginner I've found!

It seems so obvious to me to show a beginner what notes play when you hold your finger on each fret, but nobody else did that, and I really needed that! One book had me trying to read music on page 3!

    Really good series!

  • @asdfgzxcn

Imagine you have have a red cup, blue cup, and green cup lined up in that order. The blue cup is the cup in the middle. You could call the blue cup "the cup on the right of the red cup" or "the cup on the left of the green cup". There are 2 names for the same cup. The sharps and flats are basically the blue cup. Lets say the red cup is D and the green cup is E. Then the blue cup is both E flat and D sharp. 2 names referring to 1 note. It is a matter of vantage point.

  • great lesson... one of the best lessons for beginners

  • LOL He lost me..

  • Comment removed

  • i lost you when you were talking about the note names, dont get it

  • Go slower damn it! I'm switching from a flute for God's sake!

  • @Susukeyup5555555 me too! D: this is practically impossible lol

  • @OOwoahOO lol wtf, me too. Wow and I THOUGHT I was the only one switching from a flute to guitar.

  • NOW I UNDERSTAND!!!! NICE!!!

  • i don't have dots on my guitar :'(

  • @Ambersaurusss use sticky tabs thats what i did and copy where they are on his guitar :)

  • @sarahleighton it's cool thanks, I got a Fender guitar now, it has dots :)

  • aaa

  • Never mind, I found it.

  • Where are lessons 1 and 2?

  • Thank you man, i love your no bull method,I'm learning loads.

  • Google guitar notation chart or fretboard chart and you can see and understand it better.

This guy is teaching like they do for paid courses. Get past the accent and you'll save some dough

  • You should have tuned your guitar to a true E and not a concert E as that is very confusing.

  • fuck me, it works :)

  • obviously you dont know how to watch a video Cozinos you nub LOL

  • its all very well to tell us about the notes....but where do you put your fingers!!!!!!!!!! and wtf is "open"?

  • ok, "open".. meaning open fret, is when you are not holding down the notes on the fretboard. Also, just learn how i learnt, i looked at chord charts that had fingering positions

  • I've been hunting down simple jargon free tutorials on acoustic guitar for ages, finally I've found them!

  • i've got the exact same problem no dots on my guitar because it's a bit old .. so is there any way that i can put a dot or something to identify it ?

  • Just put some stickers where the dots should be

  • @vanessatuga

just grab some white out, and make some dots :P or make markings on the top, with a knife or sumthin

  • @bsloas1987 lolumad?

  • it is pretty good...aye

    nice vid

  • togeTHEE..r!!! rememVEE,,,,r,,, hahaha.!!

  • thanks !

  • my guitR HAS NO DOTS

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hilarious

  • Dude hes explaining the sharps & flats.

Take A and B. they have a sound in between, which is the A sharp or B flat. Thats there because the sound comes after A, and is used when you talk about the A chord. The B flat is called that way because the middle sound comes before B. :) did that help?

  • No..I used to learn the guitar, but I haven't played for 6 years so I'm kinda lost..

  • thanks mate! that makes it so easy! your the man

  • im lost help!

  • huh its a good thing ur wearing those shades. gotta protect ur eyes

  • Comment removed

  • wow this video is so helpful!

i would never of thought to remember the notes like that =]

    thanks mate xoxo

  • its simple !people might find it hard if they have a fingerpicking or beginner guitar because there no dots of them

  • I like his shirt!♥

  • wow thzz soooooo much ur my hero lol

  • @@===* great lesson @@===*:)***** ,i read about a half dozen or so peoples comments "i won't name any names" and almost pi ss ed myself laughing at the dumb asses!.

  • im a tradesman by trade hah funny! eh but why are you a half step down on a tutorial for teaching beginners - it makes no sense!

  • what do you mean exactly by stick together? go in between....

  • what if you dont have the dots on the guitar? pls answer

  • your out of luck? I don't know. I was doing this lesson and I don't have the dots either. I put peices of tape w/ the note name where the dots were on his guitar. (instead of in the middle of the neck-thing I put them on the side so that I can see them when I'm playing and take them off easily)

  • ok and?

  • See, I don't have any on mine either. I was so confused so I took a white florencent marker and put the dots on there myself. The only downside is that later I found out the marker I used was permanent and now it won't come off!♥

  • grab a permanent marker.....

  • follow up on my reply to remieres:

That means that there is no sharps inbetween. Example: open B string is a B note, B string first fret is a C note. So that makes B+C. Do you see what I mean now? There is no sharp inbetween them. They come right after each others on the string.

  • which lesson was wearing shades indoors?

  • i gots it

  • wow i got lost =0

  • Yeah same here

  • think you lost me after you showed the 2 down 2 over maneuver. I'll keep re-playing the clip though. thanks a lot.

  • together? does that mean that they make the same sounding note? or are you supposed to decide which one you prefer between them? or are they sublime in importance?

like are you saying that you need to press on the rib in between them when they're together? or like I said above and they're just the same note every where on the neck?

  • lol... What he means they are together is that there is no sharps/flats inbetween them. for instance; if you play A string open, then play the following note, which is 1st string A, that makes A+A# and then the second fret makes up the B, so A+A#+B. You see now that there is a sharp inbetween them. so E & F and B & C stick together.

  • DUDE! This is day one for me on a guitar and this guy has already taught me every note on the first two strings!! AWESOME! THANK YOU!

  • Oh i understood it now..did not understand it the forst time i watched it

    Thankyou.

    Magic tool indeed!

  • is sliding ur fingers up a steel string acoustic a safe idea? because i tried it gently and it made a small impression on my finger

  • Comment removed

  • i have dots, but they're in different places. this is sort of confusing and quick, i couldn't follow :<<

  • i didn't get it either...=( he goes too fast...idk wtf he was talking about

  • Comment removed

  • hey! i totally admire d way tought how to find the nodes on other strings....but i cnt get d nodes on OPEN, 1st fret nd 2nd fret of the 4th string!!! plz temme!

  • this is so helpful! thanks!

  • Don't infect good sites with this shit!

  • mine doesnt have dots. does my guitar have to have them. and this is confusing. first u list e,f,til like e and then u talk about the dots. i am confused.

  • i found this utterly confusing, lol but then again i had never even held a guitar until thismorning. Im sure itll come to me

  • This is so important, he nails the topic, even though he is fast. It would be nice to see some color-coded diagrams that depict what he is teaching. He should slow it down a bit, though and explain it again as he goes. Nevertheless, he does a fine job.

  • This is a very important lesson, to understand the strings. He does tend to come fast with the words but thanks to the magic of You Tube, it's possible to "re-wind" the lesson and go over it again. Boy is this ever a godsend. The more I look for a good guitar book the more I'm convince there aren't any out there that logically approach the goal of how to play guitar. Good job, mate. Mike

  • I don't have dots on mine :(

  • Awesome..................(five stars!)

  • er beginers dont know this stuff

so mabey go a bit slower

  • Call me Mr thicko but on first listen I don't get it (& i don't hold out much hope for the 2nd hearing either) - i'm sure you think it sounds easy but if this is the easy way then i sure as shite don't want to try the hard way john...i am determined to learn though.

  • uh, i dnt get it but i do, ur better help then my dad tho

  • Wow its cool xD

  • Why the sunglasses.

  • pro'ly coz there is some light-source in front of him....

  • Well, what can I say? I wish I could be a begginer again 'cause this is really easy to understand, jejeje, nobody explained it to me like that so I suffered a lot trying to learn how to play my guitar. Anyways, thanks bro, I just wanted to say that even though I already knew this lessons, I did learn something new this time. Take care.

  • nah its not suposed to be funny its just typical aussi ; )

  • um i had just gotin my guitar and it is so diffrent then urs the tuneing is and i dont have dots or anything so wut do i do

    i am with u wooden potatoes :(

  • really your best bet is to get a tuner from somewhere in town. My friends tuned mine for me.

and remember, you really have to push hard to make the notes sound crisp! Its hard at first, and will make youre fingertips sore and wrist ache - but then it gets easy

  • you have dots man :)))

there is no guitar without dots...but some guitar's have the dots to the bottom of the nek.

  • And what about people who dont have dots in those positions? :(

  • use a sticker to magically create a dot :)

  • Lol actually I just remembered where the notes are on my dots are and do the octave move from there :D

  • I'm confused.... :(

  • i wish if i knew this, thanks for explaining mate. and for those who don't get it just pause everytime when he says something and give it time to digest. its a 9 minute video but if you are a beginner like me you cant have all that in your head in 9 minutes. pause and practice

  • wow im glad im not the only one who found this confusing...it looks so hard to learn em all :S

  • Can someone explain this to me on my youtube channel? I don't get a word.

  • funny accent

  • I dont get how to work the notes out?

  • awesome.. i wish someone would have explained this to me a long time ago..

  • the point of lessons is to teach not show off, so yeah he has to talk alot to explain what he is doing :P

  • Im a newbie myself ..any opinions on the Aria as being a decent/good guitar?

  • i need a new guitar there arnt even any dots on mine X( was wondering why the hell it was so hard to learn how to play

  • Why think about things upside down? Because you're Australian! :)

  • ahh

    im so confused! :S

  • Thax 4 your lessons sir,These r really helpful

  • i'm a tradesman by trade :-S

  • Aaah, i always get confused at this.

  • i thought he said i!

  • All the dots on my guitar are weird...theres only 4 and theyre on the 5th, 7th, 10th and 12th frets, which is kind of annoying.

Apart from that i like this because its in an Aussie accent which I'm kind of used to coz im Aussie.
