  • De Horlepiep - or Hornpipe. It's a north sea sailor dance - originally it was danced by men only. It has lots of Irish influence to it.

  • It has not Irish influence, the tune is the real Scottish classic "Robertson´s Hornpipe". And the dance to the Horlepiep is a homemade choreography for a sports club at Gorssel near Zutphen in the 1930s....

  • @alpenfrauchen Which sports club would that be (just curious as I live near there)

    Cheerio

  • @superkjellbomberman Hello ! my source is a booklet of the Belgish series "Dans met ons". Unfortunately I don´t possess this book at home, but found it only in the Royal Library Albert I at Brussels. There the story of the choreography is told, the choreographer was a certain Hendrik Jan Eume from Gorssel who made it in Scottish style. The identification with the Robertson´s Hornpipe is mine, I found it in a Scottih Country Dance Group at the Dortmund University...

  • @alpenfrauchen wow, you know a lot about this stuff. Thanks for the info!
