@Guixpsn I think it's less about topping Heath's performance and more about being a different type of villain. The Joker is like a psychotic child; he has no real purpose for what he does besides for the lulz of it.
Bane, on the other hand, is heavily driven by a purpose. He has ideals, and may not be as one-dimensionally evil as The Joker was. He is cold and calculating, and acts with brutal efficiency. He is a different kind of villain entirely. It's apples and oranges, really.

I think for this to be the definitive Batman, we need more villains. The Joker may be nr:1, but nr:2 certainly isn't Scarecrow or Ra's Al Guhl, it's CATWOMAN.
Batman needs a more epic romantic interest, and Catwoman/Selina Kyle is the first and best choice for that.
The best and most serious romantic interest from the old movies was Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman. Batman needs some exposure to a person who's stuck between good and evil.

@maibale Im rather certain that christian bale will be playing batman in the last christopher nolan directed batman movie because it would be rather odd to bring someone like stallone into the trilogy when christian bale has been in the last 2 film. Obviously they will have to find a replacement joker due to Heath Ledger being unfortunately dead. I just hope that he can be as good as Heath Ledger at this role and not completely ruin the films atmosphere.
