  • That was a very interesting group of videos. I thank you for taking the time. You are sincere and eloquent. I was absorbed by the thoroughness of your videos in telling the story of all parts of your religions 'journey'. I also wonder how it is for you now as the videos was downloaded 2 years ago - how you have managed to fit in with the very religious people in your town? I love your obvious intelligence & appreciate how hard it is to navigate from a religious upbringing to atheisum. Thanks.

  • heck message me back or i can call ya

  • you forgot hun he that endureth to the end shall be saved. i say hold on dont let satan take your heart ill help ya

  • Pretty good video.. her christian identity seemed self consumed, but she went through the same I did when I stopped being a christian.. Its written all over her face at the end.. She's free..

that what I realized.. I am Free..

  • first i like to say the only good thing in me is the christ jesus .anything thats is nastie is me.here it goes this ones for you .i owe you one o yea jesus said this will be in the end time churches1.lie in the church today.a guy goes up to be healed they touch him on the head or where every.he falls on the ground and jerks around he's healed .the christ heals.2. the guy is on the ground jerking around he touches him he stops and is healed and stands up.

  • @greg22458 this how i research for the truth.he tells us what and how to tell the truth.if youre not looking for it you wouldn't find.he said three thing we'll see in the end time to tell the truth.but the blind believe the lie and they'll find the lie and believe it's the truth.he gave 9 thing to tell the beast power.i could believe blindly what they told me.so i ask god to show the truth and the lies.he knew my heart and i wanted the truth badly.do know how many churches kicked out.lol

  • @greg22458 think on this .first 4 comments love god, last 6 love man.4 comment the only one that says remember, and at one time the whole world foregot.the sabbath the 7th saturday.where did sunday come in.look in history. i love history.the roman church again.them pagans.it's history.but it's the truth like it or not.some say but paul went preached on sunday so it changed.bullcrap.but you say god doesn't

  • @greg22458 change.right, right .jesus says if you love keep my comments!!!!!!!!!!! but not the 4 one.read history .the bible and history go hand in hand.all other religions too.i could go on for day on lies in the church.but that doesn't make the true god a lie .it's man thats the lier..why so many denominations.you want the truth or the lie.to be answered tomorrow.i'm just a dirty rag that wants to be used to clean up some the water down truth.forgive me religiousfiction but i do understand

  • @greg22458 (i couldn't believe blindly ) sorry

  • @greg22458 (kicked me out)sorry

  • why do we blame so much .you're to be so smart and all i hear i don't want to see the truth that maybe man has done this.let's blame god for everything evil.and for religion that's not of god.that's man.please get that right .playing god will give you power.like you said that rush.you are right about 90% of churches today are religieous and they follow man.god said they loved the lie so much he lead to believe it was the truth.this is where the lie got in the church.

  • @greg22458 i was just like you if not worst.i just can't believe the stupid shit that came out of mouth.someone from a research back ground.did you eat lead paint chips as a kid. lol sorry but it's just how stupid you sound. 1.god judges you for what you know not what you don't know.i think you're safe there.lol2.he has a soft spot for the retarts.safe again.lol 3.he feels sorry for weak minded people. you got all your bases covered .now all you need is a home run.

  • @greg22458 sorry i had to say that.just having fun.watching you i thought lol omg.lol it's sad you don't know how to research the truth.and religion has put anger in you heart.this is not how you get to know god.some day look back over your life you may see how he has blessed you and your love ones.have a child and see they will know him even if you don't say his name.but if you're blind you'll miss it all.sad thing, you may teach your kids to be blind.sorry that religion is what you found .

  • minute 01:56 we all must search and research for the truth !! before to convert ourselves whether in an atheist believer or a christian Believer or a believer of any kind

Watch : Zeitgeist Refuted (8 of 10) skip to the Resurrection part

hope you'll find the answers . blessings - Bendioness

  • It is great that your intelligence has obviously helped you overcome your indoctrination. I too overcame mine by years of studying about where the books of the bible came from and the discrepancies in the actual history of the middle east. I know many have doubt about the truth of their doctrines and need to be shown evidence of the lies of the bible. I suggest that you read Caesar's Messiah by Joseph Atwill. His Theory shows how the Romans created christianity to co-opt Messiah from the Jews.

  • @cameradanblack wrong again dam you people dumer then a bag of rock.read history.the roman's brought pagan beliefs into the church.they killed 90 million christians and thats where religion came in.this is history.not some book .why did we come to america.lollololool

  • @greg22458 you only see or what you want.they found the books that go back way before caesar was born.get your history right.just blinding yourself makes you a fool in front of anybody who studies history.1.the word of god has changed many men when they tried to prove it wrong.good men wanted to find the truth.not men with a hard heart or lie on there tongue.

  • I saw all three of your videos and congratulate you on your intellectual honesty. You look like you are still on the way. I started as a Christian and came upon the same hurdles as you. However, I still believe in a God that is totally compatible not only with science but also the big question of why we have a universe full of pain and suffering (and not because of free will or punishment from a so-called 'fall'.) Keep going gal, I know you will work it out.

  • There's nothing more interesting than when that blindfold falls from your eyes. I was in a state of shock I believe and so I walked that way for a some days possibly a few weeks until it set in, and then I realized how lost I had really been all this time. Great video. :)

  • I'm an atheist and I don't know any religious people (I'm in the UK). I have never met a christian turned atheist and it is fantastic to hear her story. It's unbelieveable that there is somewhere in a civilised western country that has 'freedom', that can have such fundamentalist degrading views. The pope has accepted evolution! I know catholosism doesn't equal christianity, but how has it not reached Texas!!! Fantastic video

  • Matthew 7:14 is a great example of an omniscient God knowing few will find the way. An omniscient and omnipotent God CAN NOT hold responsible those he knew would sin against him.

Free will is just a way for God's hands to remain clean when he allows you to go to hell.

And he knew that too before space and time began.

  • Matthew 7:14 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Does everyone see? Its not about the "Law", but the WILL of the Father who is in heaven.

    John 6:40

40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

If you don't believe I'm sorry, but you are living in DEATH.

You were living by the Law, not by the LORD

  • @RICCIO5000 amen.he wants us all.he is saying to us this is not what i planed or wanted for you to live like. but you wanted it .now to come live with me.i'm the king of kings.and you will have no other kings before me.when a king makes a promise.if he lies ,it was off with his head.most people in church don't know why this is .they don't know the whole story what happen in heaven.and why we're going through this.and that sad they can't tell people.so lady you're right as far as religion goes.

  • "Just want to know about Jesus"

So does everyone especially everyone back in the day when he supposedly performed miracles everywhere. No one but one dude has any testimonials .. that fact alone speaks volumes. Not even a birth date when three wise men were on hand who's job was to record it .. makes sense.

  • This video reflects how I feel as I go through deconversion. The bible is toxic. This book is one of the most violent books I have ever read. Mass killing including children. Smashing babies against rocks. Stonings.Taking their murder victims daughers for themselves. Raping then paying off the offence in cash is ok. Selling your daughters as a sex slaves is fine.A guide on how to beat your slaves.Oh! and were going to burn in HELL.Did I mention the devil,I thought he was the bad guy in this book

  • THAT'S the one thing that keeps me believing in God... I cannot BEAR the thought of DEATH being the end.

  • i know u tried to get back to jesus its hard do u know why its so hard cause the cecular world and satan doesnt want u in heaven he wants u in hell he thinks hes going to win! against God!!

  • Great videos and well it goat me thinking on becoming one but the only thing realing stoping me is that whole fear of death thing.

  • Much of the world is hard to face now; I agree. And I had a dog that was my best friend. It broke my heart when he had to go away. Hobbes... (I didn't talk to my mom for a week. I was 12).

Christians don't use theirs brains enough. I am a Christian; but I respect what you have said here. You are very WELL spoken and WELL thought. It's refreshing to hear someone speak who is trying to make a positive difference.

I respect that you continued to work with the youth for THEIR sake. :-)

  • Very good videos! Truly heartfelt and emotional. Welcome to the world outside of Christianity. Stay strong through your process and be a positive articulate voice for those going through some of the same experiences.

  • Watching the three videos of your narrative of de-conversion I couldn't help to think about how many people will see it and be moved by it. The world needs people like you. Keep speaking up as you do, without the arrogance that a lot of atheists (myself included) argue against believers. I have learned though to understand that spirituality is not religion, and that transcendental gods are not the same as immanent gods. These concept are really important to grasp in order to understand da issue

  • @TheOzomahtli the good thing about spirituality is you get to play god.if you haven't found that out yet. you haven't researched that makes you a follower of the blind.in the late 1400's is when spirituality in it's self came out of the church, and it is a religion.you need to learn history.just because we're told something doesn't mean it's the truth.please get your history right.don't study from people who write books to make money off you.

  • @greg22458and think it's the god's of truth.sorry but the truth hurts again. look it up.don't believe every thing you read.research both sides of a coin not just one .and always check history twice.

  • Read The Qur'an, it may answer a lot of ur questions

  • I was not quite as dedicated as you where, I didn't create any groups or anything, I did do 3 retreats, went to church up to 4 times a week, was involved in the charismatic movement, but as I got older I kept questioning things, and very, very slowly I moved away. It no longer made any sense in any practical way. Ironically, I had way more questions than answers. You can't be an analytical thinker and continue with just faith, it doesn't work very well on ones conscious. Wish you the best

  • Albeit stolen from Platonism, if Xist existed, and were standing next to these keyboard Xstian soldiers, NONE OF THEM WOULD CLAIM YOU WERE HEADED TO HELL, CUZ XIST WOULDNT APPROVE! Hypocrites pull the splinter out of your eye Mrs, to avoid dealing with the LOG IN THEIR OWN EYES! How quick weak Xistians forget THEY DONT SIT AT RIGHT HAND OF FATHER! Saying also origonates in Egypt, for the uninformed armchair theologians making judgemental comments!

  • Xstian apologist admitted plagarizing, predominately Plato. EVERYTHING UNEDUCATED XSTIANS CLAIM UNIQUE TO THE GOSPEL, CAN BE TRACED TO CULTS AND PHILOSOPHERS, 1000s of years PRIOR! Osiris, Dionysus, Mithras, Egyptians, etc! Communion, Jesus ridin donkey, palm leaves, etc, WERE DIRECTLY LIFTED FROM STORY OF DIONYSUS! Scholarly study of these ancient stories, writings of Sextus, Pythagorus, Celsus, Ascelpius, with TRACEABLE EVIDENCE, proves were Xstian Apologist ADMIT THEY STOLE THEIR TENETS FROM!

  • @PayneReceptors here another person who forgot history.look before your pagan gods and philosophers these books are over 3000 could go back as far as 5000 yrs old not bull, history they got them you read them.you touch them you smell them. do you know where plato sets today no i mean really.it's in history.it's in rome.there's your other god's set there too.another book sells

  • Faith without works is dead, right? ;)

    ACTION!

People who claim to do God's will are often not, as we see from muslim fanatics who blow themselves up for Allah.

I read somewhere that humans have masks of animal and take on their personalities. So I imagine that some people are sly as a fox, others are harmless and beautiful as a butterfly, others as ferocious as a dinosaur. But they all look the same.

I tend to judge denominations and groups by their 'fruits'.

  • I think the "Why do people believe the way they do" is not that important. There are a million factors going into why a person does what he does. And you know, a person convinced against his will is of the same opinion still, as Dale Carnegie said.

It seems to me that arguing with reality ("Why?!") is always the wrong question.

I think setting a positive difference, in the world, as a goal, is good.

  • I'm glad you point out Jesus' last words. If Jesus was forsaken what hope is there for the rest of us?

But I beg to differ. I think, it was a very unfortunate mistranslation.

Here it is, from the Lamsa Bible:

    "And about the ninth hour,

Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said,

    Eli, Eli lemana shabakthan!

My God, my God, for this I was spared!"

  • I felt terrible when my dog died. But I'm not going to pretend that she's "in a better place now." She's dead. That's just how it is. She's decaying in my back yard right now if the maggots haven't already done their work on her. I think some people become religious when they see someone die. They're weaklings. They're willing to sacrifice their goodness to cope with something that hurts them. These people I can only pity.

  • I mean, I can only imagine the agony and terror my grandmother must have felt as the hail crashed against her home and her respirator shut down. The helplessness she must have felt. And she isn't in a better place. I think it would be unjust to diminish the pain of death that our loved ones feel for our own emotional weakness. It's easy for me to say this, because I didn't feel all that bad when she was gone, but I do know how it feels.

  • About death.. I'm a Nihilist, and sometimes I sort of feel like psychopath. Maybe I just haven't learned how to feel bad about certain things or I've asked myself why enough that I just don't see why I should. When my grandmother died, my mother was saying how she died peacefully, how she chose to let go, and she'll be happier now [in heaven.] This mentality bothers me. People are so weak that they'd shrug off death and pretend it wasn't all that bad.

  • Everyone around me is christian, I have no friends who are not christian or religious. Just ironically my boss at work, he is atheist. My whole family is super christian. It's stressing, I've told my husband and he took it well... considering everything. But he still believes. This whole thing sucks, I hope to resolve it soon because it is eating me inside. So awful, thanks for sharing your story, it gives me hope!

  • @porolita22 If he doesn't treat you right, divorce him. Simple. Walk out the door, leave him behind and don't look back.

  • Wow, I don't know if you read your comments or not. But say THANK YOU for this video. i swear we have so many things in common is scary, it's like you're telling MY STORY. Except my husband still believes, and we have the youth group, and I am agonizing because I don't know what to do. I can't do it anymore, I can't... I feel like such a hypocrite. I roll my eyes at the sermons and all the things I once held so deeply :'(

  • Your videos are rather intresting lol

  • Thanks for sharing this, in a deeply personal way and with no bitterness about the time you have wasted on this rubbish. You are young enough to have most of your life ahead of you - & now free of religious shackles I hope you & your husband enjoy it to the full. What is particularly disturbing is how so many people waste their entire lives on it - that time is lost & can never be recovered. As a lifelong atheist I've always been perplexed how people get duped by it - keep up the good work.

  • Noa's Ark short meaning.

God is imperfect and he makes mistakes. He also loves his reboot button to much.

  • You and your husband are wonderful and beautiful human beings, thank you very much for sharing!

  • Excellent video :)

  • You are an incredible, intelligent, radiant, loving human being and it shines through in your videos. Congratulations on your journey, my own was nowhere near as arduous.

Quick question. What would have happened with your husband had he not been going down the road of deconversion with you? What if he had maintained his beliefs or, 'God' forbid, regressed into fundamentalism because of his surroundings? Thanks again.

  • I fail to understand why the Christian church has failed to stand up against war. I repeat, I fail to understand why the Christian church has failed to stand up against wars. I repeat, I fail to understand why the Christian church fails to stand up against wars and does not uphold the COVENANT of "THOUGH SHALT NOT KILL". As the Christian church is wide and broad I must conclude that their faith is lip service only and do not act with what the Bible instructs. jsf

  • I can't believe I just watched all 3 parts of your video...I think the main reason I watched and kept watching is because you sound so smart, I'm sure you are smart. I'm glad to see that you aren't trying to convince everyone who watches your video to be atheist. I understand for the most part how you changed your mind overtime. Don't be entirely close minded to the idea that God may exist though, perhaps one day you'll have a personal revelation and believe again?

  • @theweaz Thanks for your feedback, and for watching all 3 parts! I'm definitely not trying to convince people to be atheists, but I do think that the more people hear how others have questioned their assumptions, the more likely they are to question their own.

I'm not closed to the possibility of god(s), even interactive ones. I think my qualifications for a revelation would be high, though, not unlike the experience Thomas is said to have had. What would it take for you not to believe in god?

  • @theweaz This is one of the biggest misconceptions of atheists and atheism, that's we're 'close minded' as to the existence of God. No thinking atheist would ever consider the existence of a theistic deity impossible we simply refuse to believe in things for which there are no evidence. I am completely open to seeing and accepting evidence of a deity should one present itself. As for 'personal revelation' we've seen enough of those to know they can't be trusted as any measure of authenticity.

  • @theweaz be careful when saying close minded. Perhaps the wrong term to use here. Are you close minded regarding to statements that the toothfairy exist? You would be open to evidence the toothfairyist presented, but not compelled to be open minded if they had nothing to substantiate those claims. I might not be explaining it right, but I hope you get my point

  • @11avv - Actually, the catholic church allowed the shroud to be dated, and it was dated to around 1350 AD.

  • There are two things that if christians would honestly consider would virtually wipe their delusions from their mind. 1) Actually read the bible. The god of the bible is a murderous monster. 2) Know that you are only a christian by a random accident at birth. Had you been born in Iraq, Iran etc you would be Muslim. Had you been born in India, then Hindu. Had you been born in ancient Greece then you would have been a follower of Zeus. .

  • Great video, thanks for posting.

  • Good luck on your journey.....you'll most likely get some surprises you didn't expect.

  • @1Disciple0FJesus - as will anyone alive, regardless of his or her journey.

  • Instead of turning on God , why not seek Him for the answers and comfort we need. We all know that people throughout history have a way of changing "historical reality" to suit their needs. So yes, the bible itself has been re-authored along with history books. We aren't tossing out history as a total lie because we discover that parts are. That people lie doesn't mean that God does not exist. I don't focus so much on the bible. I pray a lot and allow God to guide me.

  • @Justagameweplay - We don't "need" gods for answers and comfort. Some people lean on that mental crutch. Some people lean on drugs, or mysticism, or psychic hotlines. Why not find comfort in more constructive means? But I am glad to see that you are not a bible literalist, and are more interested in internal guidance. But that's what it is - internal. You have no way to show me that your god isn't just a construct of your mind. That's not a good reason for me to believe.

  • Thanks for sharing your reasons and feeling about how you discovered religions are manmade.

  • Loved your series. I have found death can be seen two ways for most people. Either they hold closer to God, or they reject God. Everyone has their doubts, bc no one really knows for sure what happens after we pass. Some can't imagine there being nothing. Others are sure scientifically, but again who can be absolutely sure? I'm a believer, just not religious. You seem very sincere with a good heart, and I wish you all the best. Your love shines.

  • @Tonithenightowl - Thank you sincerely for your honest and kind response. I think we're facing the world with similar worldviews, even though we have different answer to whether or not the supernatural exists. Keep on reaching out to the world with that love.

  • @ReligiousFiction Just finished watching your 3 videos. And my question is did you ever have any experience with God? Going to church doesn't make you a "Christian" anymore than going to a gym makes you a body builder. It is my great experiences and relationship with God that has keep me loving and believing in God. Not all the organized religious junk that is out there. As far as science I love it!! Just can't buy into the from the goo,to the zoo and now its you theory. :)

  • @OnenessApostolicMan too many missing links. anything they do find turns out to be lies.plus more has been found to prove it less then a theory.it's own founder knew this before he died.but you won't hear about that.even though they read it they won't say it.they leave it out.they hate when everything points to a loving god.but how can there be a loving god.thats means i can't have it my way!!!!!we have had it our way and look at it!!!!!!!!!we turned it this way not god.

  • Wow. So your husband deconverted too? That's great.

  • Thanks for sharing! :)

  • I just finished listening to your personal story on letting go of your faith. All I can say is.....Fantastic. It practically mirrors my own journey.

I find it ironic when I come across Christians (or any religion for that matter) who, in the course of proselytizing, invite me to experience "The Truth" and discover "Freedom from Bondage" in a relationship with Jesus. It's good to know that I'm not alone and that others have found genuine "freedom" from the mental bondage that religion truly is.

  • I just finished this series, you made me "mmm" many times as you hit it right on the head. You are very reflective & honest. I was especially connected to how your faith became more personal as you were less able to accept certain parts of it. I think that is common for people as they deconvert, and it can be so isolating, that's why speaking about this is so important. Nice video!

  • @tobintom1 your people were ready to burn galilée for saying the earth was revolving around the sun. Religion is the plague of humanity, you are right, embrace jesus because ignorance is blessed.

  • The bible can only be understood by a believer. If it were not for the flood, we would not exist. God saved humanity from evil destruction. Yes the world is still evil, but not to the point of extinction.

Are you willing to forfeit salvation because you can't understand it all?

  • @3161029 let me be honest when i say that your comment is full of bullshit :)

"The bible can only be understood by a believer." if by understanding you mean having blind faith and ignorance then youre right.

"If it were not for the flood, we would not exist." what flood? the flood that christianity talks about or the flood that earlier religions talk about?

"God saved humanity from evil destruction" lemme add that hes the one who created evil. hes god! he created EVERYTHING right?

  • @RancidAkuma

Thank you for proving my next point that everyone is a sinner and needs a savior.

  • @3161029 how about you define "sin" and "savior"

  • @RancidAkuma

If you seriously want to know about the God of the Bible, you have plenty of ways of finding out.

  • @3161029 - If the bible can only be understood by a believer, you can't use it to convince nonbelievers, therefore mentioning bible stories is pointless.

IF the flood happened, god might have saved humanity, but he also destroyed almost all of it, forcing everyone left to inbreed in order to populate the world. Incest.

I'm not forfeiting anything. I'm gaining a real life. And I'm certainly not losing imaginary salvation from an imaginary torture chamber created by an imaginary being.

  • Could I ask what denomination of Christianity you were?

  • @DeathToTheseWalls - I was Methodist for most of my years as a Christian.

  • stumbled upon your channel because one of your videos was featured on another atheist's channel. Thanx alot for sharing =)

    the videos are really inspiring!

  • I watched all 3 parts, and all I have to say is, "Bravo young lady!"

  • I'm not sure why but I kept thinking of the people who say video games desensitize you to violence. The bible did it for me ;o

  • Life makes sense now...no truer a statement has been uttered by we who have become born again atheists.

  • This is a wonderful 3 part video, thanks so much for posting it. I too was on quite a journey that took me from Christianity to Paganism to finally becoming Atheist. It feels so good to be free from the shackles of religion.

  • If I were to tell my parents I was an atheist they would freak out on me I've gotten out of going to church and cadets i'm 14 by the way don't judge I've read throughout the bible and And I just couldn't accept it my grandma acually tryed to convince me that the only reason the dinosuars aren't alive is because Noah didn't accept them onto the ark I've been lied to my hole life and I'm acually kinda pissed off about it

  • @snowboarderdude96 -"I've been lied to my whole life and I'm actually kinda pissed off about it"

I totally, totally understand. Even though the people lying to me weren't doing it on purpose - they believed most of it! - it still frustrates me that I dedicated so many years of my life to something that people made up and guessed about, and hoped was true. I hope you've got some good support, like friends who will listen.

  • I just really love your videos. You're a good person and a real inspiration for a rounded education. I hope you don't mind that I shared this series on my facebook page.

  • Life does make sense now. Its soooo awesome .

  • who will be future athiest. not because they didnt believe its because they never heard God it could be a number of reasons why one doesnt hear Heb 4:2 calls it a lack of faith. if God is real why wouldnt you hear him! Heb 4:7

  • @Iamleast - Exactly. If god is real, why wouldn't everyone hear him? And the answer is that god is not real. That's why not everyone hears a god or gods. People who *do* hear gods, angels, aliens, demons, etc, are hearing their own inner turmoil. This is not evidence of anything other than mental instability.

  • @ReligiousFiction And the answer is that god is not real.... that is why you never came to faith, because the extent of your belief Heb 11:6 its foolishness to you.

  • @Iamleast In Acts 5:32 it clearly states that God gives his Holy Spirit to those who obey him Heb 4:7 and by your statement your faith was not rooted in hearing him! If Rom 8:9 is truth then you never were his you never were a Christian!!

  • im a christian and always will be till the day I die no one can move me. ive been watching the same thing over and over again from christians on here as well as athiest. If at any time you did believe in God it was limited to just the written word its the same thing with many christians on here and their selective in what they choose to believe. If God exist wouldnt he have a voice? By the way some christians act if you mention his call they label you a calvanist these are the same people cont

  • seeing this made me realize its time to stop wasting our time having faith in something that we know cant exist and actually make things happen.

people need to know that all the prayer in the world isnt going to solve the worlds problems.

  • @DonKazadr - Quoted for truth! "its time to stop wasting our time having faith in something that we know cant exist and actually make things happen. people need to know that all the prayer in the world isnt going to solve the worlds problems."

  • My story in becoming an atheist is very boring. Don't ask me about the loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong story.

  • ReligiousFiction,

I bless you lady! I think you are lost, your soul will still search for God because he is your loving Father, he will not that easily give up on you. I pray that one day you would come back to God's family, where we your brothers and sisters will rejoice with you. I would really want to talk to you and pray for you. If you want write to me: svetmiru@yahoo.com (Sergei)

  • @svetmiru - Thank you for your very kind and loving response. I wish more theists were so comfortable with themselves and their concept of god that they felt they could reach out like you did.

  • It's too bad that Christianity didn't turn out to be what you wanted it to be. That goes to show it's realistic, rather than dreamed up fairy tales.

I wish, though, that you'd have taken a look at what the Bible says about those questions you were asking. Why does God let bad things happen? B/c people have free will. If He intervened and stopped all bad things, He'd be a hypocrite-- telling us we can do as we please, then turning arnd and circumventing our choices. Blame man, not God.

  • @peachtable966 -Thanks, but you wish I'd read the bible? I feel like you didn't listen to this video at all.

Does God remove free will? Read the Exodus story. It says yes.

Why do bad things happen? Read Job. And Isaiah. It's god.

"The Bible" is actually nearly a hundred books written by various authors over aeons of time, spliced together. "The Bible" has no one stance on any issue. Not what day Jesus died, not free will, not murder, not suicide, not whether men or animals were created first.

  • Thank you for sharing your experience. It made me realize once again that although I may feel alone in this path that I have chosen, there is no going back. I can't delude myself and believe in any of the bible being true; it just won't work. It's best for me to make a decision right now to go further ahead on my current path, with courage, wonderment, and eyes wide open.

  • Should you make your decision of your faith on something/someone taken away from you? Instead, perhaps be thankful for the time you were allowed to spend with your companion. Each breath you take is a gift. Becoming, and being authentic is important however. I admire your willingness to explore and seek truth for yourself. Eventhough, you've made a proclaimed change, keep your mind open to the possibility that somethings could occur you won't be able to explain with nature or coincidence. ;-)

  • @100benjamin -And I likewise admire your optimistic approach. An attitude of gratitude does make life better. However, it's nonsensical to ignore all the bad things that happen and only give gods credit for the good things that happen. Watch Edward Current's "Give God Some More Credit!" watch?v=8-vhyqx_Duc

Something I can't "explain with nature or coincidence" isn't necessarily Zeus. Or Voodoo. Or aliens. Or Yahweh. Maybe we just can't explain it yet, like we couldn't explain rainbows 300y ago

  • @ReligiousFiction unfortunately this and the commendations and insults on this page are fruitless. Faith can not be proved or disproved. I appreciate your epithany but I must respectfully disagree with the conclusions you have drawn. You stated, maybe there are things we can't explain, and it isn't necessarily a god or God. Why did you use the term "necessarily"? Because, yes there are things we can't explain. Faith (or the lack of) is a choice and an excercise not a discovery.

  • @100benjamin I do believe many who call themselves Christians, cast a shadow on those attempting to genuinely follow that path. Unfortunately, they do a better job of deterring people from Christianity than do most others promoting their religions. Take care.

  • @100benjamin I used the word 'necessarily' because many theists panic at the thought that their gods might not exist. Panic and fear shut down communication. So rather than claim they don't exist, sometimes I try to pose things in hypothetical terms so the conversation can be more productive.

  • @100benjamin Faith cannot be proved or disproved but truth claims can and every truth claim in the Bible that could be falsified has been.

  • @limericklad2000 Who's truth? I don't view Christianity as many do I suppose. Their are as many paths to that faith as their are individuals willing to accept it. Each must arrive at their own truth. As we mentioned in the previous post there are many things that happen in this world that we don't understand. Whether bad or good, I don't see this as a opportunity to blame God, or deny his existence, just as something I cannot fully comprehend yet.

  • LOL @ Atheists trusting in the flesh and the flesh only.

How sick to live that way. This girl must be fighting with her last 2 brain cells if you think the flesh provides all answers.

  • @jihadjared - "LOL @ Atheists trusting in the flesh and the flesh only"

Riiiiight.... what a thoughtful and convincing response. You must be using your 'last 2 brain cells' if you think that's going to convince anyone.

  • good for you doing the right thing and staying with the church, once you realize its BS it dose not effect you in the same way, sure its anoying, but the kids were more importent. thats awsome.

  • This is excellent stuff. It really captures what its like to lose one's faith when one is exceptionally committed to the idea earlier on in life. It reminds me of my own deconversion experience and I thank you for sharing it.

  • I had to edit my answer to your question to get all to post. I had used scripture but now in this I just have verses.

I am sorry but no one that truly believes in Jesus Christ can leave him. Your problem my be answered in John 6. this is part of it: John 6:66,69 John 8: 47

I don't know but maybe you were not chosen by God. read the parable of the sower. You should find yourself in this parable somewhere. Then read the next parable and see if you are in there.Matt 13:10 -23

  • It could be that God was testing your heart like he did the Israelites in the desert. He has been testing mine for three years now with this horrible disease. This life is hard but it is a short time compaired to eternity. A man named John Tiliton said, “The man that makes provision for this life but takes no account for eternity is wise for now but a fool forever.” I could go on and on but it is hard for me to spend too much time typing because of my CFS disease

  • Just remember though,

Luke 10:62 Jesus replied, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Once you have put your hand to the plow and look back you may not be able to return. I pray you will wake up and see what I am saying because the Lord had you contact me for some reason. I know that for sure. Take Care and my God Bless You again with His Mercy and Grace, Rick

    .

  • @susejselur - I feel like I've already answered this claim... have we had this conversation elsewhere? In the same posts, you say that no one can be Christian and leave the faith. Yet you also say in your very own holy text that people can be Christians and then turn away. So which is it? What Jesus said, or what someone told you?

Either way, I think Jesus was a cool guy. He was probably misquoted, and people definitely changed his story, but he was still a humanitarian. Thanks for responding.

  • Most Christians I know in Australia has never read the bible. But they tell me that they know Jesus exists because they can feel him. They tried hard to make me a Christian, infact four different Christians tried. But I said that I would only go if there were hot looking girls. Well, I never got invited again after making that statement.

  • I think it is quite important that Christians living in moderate and liberal society don't read the Bible - what if they don't get that it's horrible?

    \sarcasm

    Nice story, thanks

  • its just kinda like why God why? Ya know? I eventually realized that if I need evidence to figure everything out then I don't need God at all. If I knew everything and never had questions life would be pretty boring bc I would know it all. I hope you understand what I am saying. Anyway id love to talk more with you about all this just e-mail me or something at dameonmarcus@hotmail.com id appreciate your input on this.

  • @thewisenashvillestar - Thanks for your responses! I apologize for not getting to them sooner - sometimes I'm swamped with responses to other videos, or PMs, or life other than YouTube, and I get behind on answering comments. Thank you very much for watching. You're right - the emphasis on evidence or faith is a pretty big, life-changing decision. I chose to emphasize evidence and logic, because faith can cause people to fly in to buildings or bomb doctors.

  • I really loved listening to these videos. I was so absorbed into them lol! Wow I have so much to say that I wouldn't know where to begin with everything. As you were talking I just saw a young woman who by a slow fade her life took one little compromise after the other and eventually kinda shut down spiritually. Often our own logic and reasoning gets into the way spiritually because our own logic says we need to figure everything out and why dont we know this or why God this or that..........

  • Absolutely wonderful deconversion story! I really enjoyed listening and I learned a few things. Thanks so much. I am an atheist in a sea of fundamentalist christians.

  • It is scary how these cycles of ignorance are perpetuated in the south. Religious or not, a life filled with fear is a horrible one. There is no free will in christianity as someone is always scrutinizing your life and controlling you with threats of violence (hell). Thanks for your story.

  • So many ditto's between our experiences . . . . amazing! Sometimes when we are going through the change, we fail to realize there are a million more somewhere experiencing the same thing. Thanks for sharing.

  • The story of Noah and the ark could very well be an allegory which explains how Jesus (the ark) will save some people from judgment (the water). The bible talks about confusing the prideful people of the world. It is possibly using simple stories to do that very thing!

  • You are a remarkable person. It's refreshing to hear your journey, which mirrors my own, as well as your thoughts.

  • @ReligiousFiction Saved from the wrath to come. God in the book of Daniel said that in the last days, there will be a great increase in knowledge. In the last 100 years we have advanced technologically than in the previous thousands of years. God opened the minds of man to understanding, but man in his arrogance now uses the little knowlege he has to disprove God. Irony, don't you think? :)

  • Thank you for this series.

  • @Textra1 - Thank you, Textra1, for your uploads, too.

  • I love listening to people's deconversion stories. I don't think I've talked too much about mine, but I should. Maybe I'll record some stuff today.

  • @PluralOfEverything - I bet I'd love to hear it. Do consider sharing. The more ration out there, the more support oppressed freethinkers have.

  • @ReligiousFiction I have it recorded and actually ready for upload, but I've been having technical difficulties. I think Thor doesn't want me to upload it, but I'll keep trying to defy him.

  • Can you please explain how you feel more purposeful? How are you at peace? I really enjoyed your videos, thanks for posting.

  • @theFriendlyHughes - Thanks for your kind response and questions.

I feel more purposeful because I have truly admitted what is important to me (among other things: children, education, science, peace, democracy) and I have chosen to support them in my way and at my pace. I am no longer waiting for a subjective 'ok' from any deity. I waited for years and never had clear direction. Now I have direction, goals, and more.

I'm at peace when I don't try to believe things which I just can't anymore.

  • If you are an athiest, and you intend to be one, then fine... though maybe you may want to hear another perspective. Everyone and every living being will die utimately, but your choice I respect for humans are created "free" and they have a "freewill".

  • @TheIslamicthought - thank you very much for your respectful response.

I don't intend to be an atheist. Let me explain: I didn't want to be one in the first place. If I see evidence that there's a supernatural realm, I'll accept it objectively and see if I can interpret what it means. I'm always open to evidence and experience.

  • @ReligiousFiction -- With regards to your situation, I suggest you a book, called "The peak of eloquence" or "Nahj-ul-Balaghah" which is the original and Arabic name of the book. I hope the book can help you become a better person if that is what you are after.

    May you find your answers!

    Peace

  • @TheIslamicthought - Thank you for the suggestion and for your input. Peace to you, too!

  • @TheIslamicthought Freewill :If God is omnipotent, then the assumption that freewill is necessary for happiness is false. If God could make it a rule that only beings with freewill may experience happiness, then he could just as easily have made it a rule that only robots may experience happiness.

  • @TheLustfulgirl - I didn't make any assumptions; this is your assumption!

  • An inspiring story, I'm glad you had a supportive husband to help you through it. I love your hat too :D

  • right....God saved the world by impregnating a Jewish virgin, then had his son killed in a horrible human sacrifice in a somewhat remote region of the world where it would take centuries for the news of this event to spread around the world....and still hasn't reached some places (Amazon, Papua New Guinea, etc).....this was God's perfect plan?....I could have done it much better....shit, having the crucifixion in ancient China would have been a start....many more people would have been converted

  • prove it...

  • In every case every person who claims to have been "formerly known as a Christian" turns out to be ignorant of Bible prophecy, and then claims to know more than the average Christian. I find this deplorable. Can you tell me what the five parts of the statue in the book of Daniel represent? No.

  • @DebateCrusher - How did I miss that you posted this response? I guess my PM settings are whacked.

    1. Can you tell me what the INTERPRETATION you either created or were taught is? Yes. And that's all you've got. You have your subjective interpretations of ancient writings, some of which you learned from people you trust or feel you were inspired with from the Holy Spirit. That's just not convincing.

And free will isn't the issue; if the point of the flood was to eradicate evil, it failed.

  • "God didn't do a good job because after the flood the first thing Noah did was to get drunk" yada, yada, yada. You meant that mankind didn't do a good job with his FREE WILL and choice, just as you are using your free will to down God. Correct? Are you now going to say that God didn't do a good job with you because you chose to down Him?

  • @jesusourhealer - Yes, but if a god doesn't give everyone the same ability to subjectively experience those warm fuzzy feelings, yet expects people to make up their minds without the same amount of evidence, AND punishes people who don't choose "right," that's not just.

I don't know if you believe in a god who would punish people for rejecting it. If such a god existed, it would be the worst example of injustice since parents who torture their children. Actually, the metaphor works.

  • @jesusourhealer - It's interesting that you call a relationship with god "much more tangible" than the rituals of religion. From the outside looking in, the exact opposite is true. No one else can experience what another experiences. Personal experience is usually the least convincing way to convert someone else to one's world view.

Evid3nc3 pointed out in his deconversion videos that we may be running simulacrums of what we think god is, and when we realize it, the 'program' breaks down.

  • The only thing we know for sure is we know nothing for sure.

  • @TheKratnoff - Ramen! Er... right on!

  • Thank you for sharing your story, it is very similar to mine and many others.

I think it is very important for atheists to speak up as you have. It's very important for everyone to realize that atheists come from all backgrounds, ages, both men and woman.

My best wishes to you and your family.
