Sorry but I wasn't a big fan of this show. I remember watching it when nothing else good was on. After seeing Voltron I thought this was silly. I was 10 years old when this came out and I was really into Voltron and thought this was similar. I wasn't a fan of Dragon Ball Z either for it's silly style of animation. If I wanted lame violence I would have watched the Banana plits at least I got a laugh from those guys. :)

I noticed,back in the day that they used lots of Great Mazinger scenes. Why they'd do that is beyond me. There was no real apparent reason. It's obvious the differences between Hover Plider and the Jet Plider/Brain Condor plus the uniform Kabuto Koji "Tommy" wears. I still love the show. Mazinger Z's short life in the U.S.

I wish there was a TV channel that would air old Japanese Anime like this.

But Tranzor Z wasn't a HE, but more like an IT. Tranzor Z didn't fight for anything, it was the pilot. LOL! Yeah I remember this show. Used to love watching it in the afternoon when I was a teen long ago.

... was that at anytime Tranzor-Z wanted to, he could instantly kill his opponent with a simple "chest-fire", yet he made the battle last for more than half of the show. I guess they had to fill the time with action to keep viewer interest. This was my most favorite show when I was 7 or 8. Seems so silly now...ha ha.

Never heard of Mazinger because it wasn't shown to us. We took what we got. My city's toy stores never had one single toy of either Tranzor-Z or Mazinger. There were rumors about a 3-foot figure that I wanted to believe, and kept dreaming about, but I dismissed it as attention seeking by my deceptive childhood playmate. "So powerful that he cannot be destroyed"? Where's the plot in that? No wonder it didn't last. One thing I never understood...

He can not? Those were silly lines added in North american version. Actually he can be destroyed and that is a thing I never liked from the series. They destroyed Mazinger and ntroduce Great Mazinger... Good but I never liked the Great version the way I liked the old one.

Mazinger (TranZor) Z was my VERY FIRST anime memory when I was 5 years old. Show was broadcast on AFN (Armed Forces Network) in then-West Germany in 1984-86. It blew my tiny little toddler mind. That and Getter Robo (Starvengers, lol Jim Terry Productions).

I agree @ nightweaver1, I'm not much on that japanese anime stuff....actually never have been, but Tranzor Z takes me wayyyy back to my childhood when I was about 5 also. I think you and I may be of the same age. Back then, the cartoon market wasn't overly saturated as it is now, making anime a bunch of nonsense. And what few anime shows that existed (eg; voltron, Tranzor Z, and 1 or 2 more I cant think of off the top of my head) really meant somthing because it was a rarity. WHO'S WITH ME???

I think the people thought of you as crazy is because the show was actually called Mazinger Z(the real series), so they were confused as shit of this "Tranzor Z(the crappy edited one)" you said to them. GOD this is why I hate censorship, thats like saying Battle of the planets(butched version) was not Gatchaman(true series). I take any original series any day than EDITED, CENSORED, CUT versions of them.

It's the other way around; MAZINGER Z started the super robot craze in 1972 and VOLTRON was a cheap imitation (from the same company, Toei Animation, BTW).
