  • Is it possible to set up wifi with a DSL modem already installed in your PC? Like.. one DSL modem on one PCI slot to hook up all the cables and shit, and a Wireless Network Adapter on another PCI slot, instead of getting a wireless router setup?

  • how do you check whether u have wireless g or n connection? and does it matter for wifi pci adapter too? or do they have to match? wireless G pci adapter and wireless g network?

  • @krnfootballer

It's going to depend a lot on which device you have and drivers and operating system. If you hover over the connection you can usually see the speed, which i believe high for G is 54mbps. N is higher and you should see pretty much the same speed as wired, maybe just a tad slower. G would be noticeably slower than wired. Do some speed tests... Also wireless N is backwards compatible with wireless G and B i believe for that matter. Most N routers have a mixed N & G mode.

  • @ethernetkid go cisco .ili.ili. they have been around along time and they are one of the main front runners in communications and to make you life easier, buy a wireless USB adapter. it will save you the hassel of opening up your computer. with the usb wireless adapter you just run the disk it will come with and hook up your adapter and bang your ready to surf in less than 5 min. the one i got cost $92.00 with tax but they got some cheaper ones starting @ around 30 bucks.

  • @CIVICMAN2784 Yeah, after writing that comment, about like a year ago, I went out and bought a Linksys N USB adapter. Isn't compatible with Hackintosh, but works pretty well otherwise. My desktop is hard wired now, but I put it to my moms, and it's working great. PCI = pain, but sometimes better than USB connection.

  • thx man =P

  • yea thx man

  • Hey , thanks for the info. I'll try it out later on.
