Battlestar Galactica had amazing ship designs, uniquely conventional space combat, amazing visuals, and great primeval music that both contrasted and perfectly fit the space setting.

It's a shame the show used up its budget in the 1st and 2nd seasons and devolved into a theological, soap-opera like space based version of Clue.

"[insert character name here] in the library, with the candlestick... is a Cylon."

It's fitting that an amazing game like Homeworld 2 would save the day with this mod.

@Vaesyr well if you've ever read any books on space battles then you would know that alot of them (not all) take place over hundreds if not thousands of Kilometers, where a near miss is considered a shot within a few Km. just saying that if you take the ranges of the wepons in HW2 as a grounds for scale then the biggest ships in game should be smaller than the scout ships... substancially smaller

You could make your own very easily, if you use the 'folders version' of the mod and edit the files in notepad. It doesn't take long to figure out if you google for modding guides. You don't need to do anything more complicated that edit a load of files in notepad for each ship, and for the unit caps, etc.

Hey bernisweltredsun - unfortunately the mod is a work in progress, so I think probably the build system for the Original Series Colonials is still not done, so for now you cannot build any resource collectors.

It IS still being worked on though.

My friend and I played the mod together on LAN just yesterday. It is pretty damn good, it really does a great job of capturing scenes or making your own BSG scenes. The only draw back I might give is that the computer's AI seems rather dumb. This most likely due to the original Homeworld AI, but even on the hardest difficulty the computer sends mostly fighter craft and very little Basestars/Battlestars.

Still, the concepts and polish make this the best mod I have played in some time.

Nope you only download one installer.exe, but the game must be patched to v1.1

If its not working, you could try reinstalling homeworld 2 cleanly, patching it to v1.1, and then installing it using the .big file installation instead.

homeworld 2 is a multiplayer game. up to six people. the only problem would be finding six other people with this mod.

As far as I'm aware, that would require re-writing it... they use different game engines. I think they perhaps use similar code, but not the same. Not to mention I'm not so sure HW1 would cope with the models or anything like that.

Yes. They have two firing modes for their batteries: Suppression Fire to deal with fighers and missiles, and Salvo Fire to engage captial ships.
