I think the UC Gundam series are awesome. I don't like F91, but Victory Gundam was pretty cool. My favorite would have to be Zeta. I love the UC series because of the whole federation vs zeon plot and of course Char, who is definitely the most badass mobile suit pilot ever. As for alternate universe gundam series. I like Gundam Wing(mostly cuz I grew up with it but I do think it was good), X(was okay although some people say it sux) , and Turn A Gundam(a great series worth watching).

The problem with including Turn A is that that show includes mobile suits from other universes. Yes, I know of the debate about Turn A being the conclusion of the UC universe, but it seems like it's the conclusion of the Gundam multiverse (except SEED and 00).

I think gundam would prety much own macross. First of all viretechs have no close range weapons what so ever, secondly their missiles won't do them any good(all gundams and the RGM line of mobile suits have CIWS mounted on their heads) and thirdly Gundams and a lot of other suits have shields and those are handy for blocking the bullets from the viretech's rifle =D

Stardust Memory just blows everything else out of the water, amazing music, and lots of strong animation. Gundam 0083 had two fantastic opening themes. The OVAs always had the best production values because they had the same budgets as a the TV shows but only spaced out amongst a couple episodes.

War in the Pocket was definitely my favorite Gundam. It strayed away from the "only 1 stupid kid can pilot this super awesome weapon! Too bad he's a pussy and cries about fighting all the time and how it's bad!" kind of theme that almost every single gundam was about (8th MS team excluded, until the very end when the OIC turns into a pussy). I think War in the Pocket was able to illustrate the heart-wrenching horrors of war without turning main characters into giant cry-babies.
