This film never got the attention or recognition it deserved. I think the reason is that there's so much going on that it's impossible for most people to appreciate - or even fully understand - the first time they see it. I didn't start to really like it until the second time I saw it, and it wasn't until the third time that I realized how amazing it is. In this underrated film, I think Henry Gibson's performance is probably the most underapreciated. He was really good.

This movie seemed a little too over-the-top in terms of acting, and a bit too - lurid? - in its cinematography - like the rain of frogs, not the occasional spring peeper descending in a light spring rain, but a cascading torrent of heavy bufo toads, smashing car windows for block after block in downtown LA - point being what? Miracles happen? Ask the street cleaners how exalted they felt afterwards - The points were valid, but the story line was too heavy-handed for my taste -

We're often paralyzed by events and occurrences we think had to have been fished from the cosmos and thrust on us from some sort of vengeful God. Magnolia was one of the great films of all time. Paul Thomas Anderson (director) also wrote the screenplay for this in his late 20's. The connections made in this film, the feared confrontations, the inevitable meltdowns, and the brilliant resolve. One word: encore.

The singer is AIMEE MANN, singing WISE UP. This is a nice movie...I enjoy it...I love Julianne Moore and she´s great here. Tom Cruise is surprisingly good in action here. The director was inspired by many of Aimee´s song...he even directed the clips from her songs one can find here on youtube. Enjoy it!
