This song was actually cowritten with me,in 1997. The chords are simple--capo on 5th fret, G chord with descending bass to Em, C chord, G chord in the first line, then the same for the second line except change the last G to D.....then C chord, G chord desc to Em, the last line G desc to Em C to D to G
I spent a lot of time with Jackson in Woodstock in the early '70s. I also ran some shows in Highmount, NY and always included Jackson on the bill. It's nice to see he has a presence here.
Such raw talent, great guitar player and songwriter. Simply underrated , it's so sad what became of him but even in his death his words and music have a pronounce effect on me spiritually and musically
Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme was the first album I ever bought, and it was a recent release. I've followed Paul Simon for my entire life, and yet only heard of Jackson Frank and Blues Run the Game this week. I am totally engaged and touched by this man's story and his music. There are songs that cost a million dollars to record that don't have the soul, the passion and the beauty of this simple piece. The rough recording, the rough voice only add to the experience. Thanks for posting!
you were so lucky to get to see Jackson C. Frank peform at Les Cousins... there seems to be only 20 seconds of video of him performing via you tube from Les Cousins.. I wish I got to see this introspective genius perform just once back in 60's
seeing this picture of him after seeing him on the cover of that album...its so deppressing, and my heart aches when i think about the hardships this man had to endure. the fire, losing his son, to losing an eye due to a random act of violence. this man had been beaten down so much, and i can hear pain in his sighs....also listening to child fixin to die. again, gutwrenching. hope he can rest in peace, and that more people come across his remarkable music and story

haunting...stunning..... and simple... .. i know how hard it was for him to just exist at times..being homeless..fighting depression...and the physical challenges from the fire of 1954 at his elementary school.....
Bar 13 is C ,14 is G,15 and 16 same as bars 5 and 6 ,bars 17 and 18 same as bars 5 and 6 aswell , from there on I havent figured out yet and to honest I just heard this song tonight and seen the requests for tabs so decided I would try and figure it out but need sleep now . Hope this was some help. Just started listening to Jackson in the last few weeks most of his songs I still have not heard yet, something to look forward to .
When the singing starts play G same picking as before but bass note moves from the 3rd fret of the 6th string for first 2 beats of bar 5 to the 2 fret (for beats 3and 4 of bar 5)then to the open 6th string this is like an Em minor chord I think or the D string might be open for this chord anyway this Em minor chord is played for the duration of bar 6,then go to C for bar 7 back to G for 8th bar.Bar 9and 10 and 11 are the same as bars 5 and 6 and 7 but for bar 12 go to the D chord. What a song
4/4time in Bflat chords are Bflat Eflat and F but with capo on 3rd fret chords are G,C,Em,D.intro is G for 2 bars then C for two bars. The picking pattern is, play together 3rd fret 6th string and open 2nd followed by the open 3rd then open 4th repeat this and thats the first bar 2nd bar is the same as the first then play(C chord) 3rd fret 5th string together with 1st fret 2nd string then 3rd open then 2nd fret fourth then repeat thats the 3rd bar 4th is the same as the 3rd.
My God! What a voice! "Shot," indeed. I could listen to this voice for hours, and how great is my grief that his life was so hard and that he left us so soon.

;_; His life was a pretty sad story. I wish he could have lived to see how appreciated his music has become.
