This series isnt ment for anyone younger than 16, or 18 in the US, as ALOT (about 99%) of the characters die, some to resurrect and possibly die again later. SPOILER ALERT.

Honestly, when watching this, I was confused about what happened with the boy and grandmother. They had a joke, a police officer rode past them, and then nothing. They were minor characters to begin with, so I just went along with it anyways.

He's kind of not, though. It's right there on the tin: Naruto is a Shonen Jump anime. Shonen. As in, "boys." It's aimed at older children, sure, and I wouldn't want anyone younger than, say, 10 watching it, but it's still ultimately a kids' show.

That doesn't mean adults can't watch and enjoy it, too, but they're not the primary target audience.

The demographic the publishers of Naruto are aiming at is about 8-15. The blood etc does not matter, it is not regarded as such a big deal there. Example being in Gantz, Kato says to Kei along the lines of "You are braver than Goku and Kenshiro!" Dbz and Fist of the north star are both regarded as children's shows tbh but in their original uncut forms they have a lot of blood.

Damn, we started a random flame war, haha. I know how graphic this show gets. Most of us do, but when trying to watch this, ignoring the actual show's scenes and just rolling with this story, they really do just die off (without dying off) without any explanation.

Again, we've all seen the show. The torture clip was about three seconds long, but it's at a low volume and not easy to catch, and it's not exactly the grandmother's voice, nor is it the boy's voice, who is still on screen. You, the creator, have what you wanted in mind, so you understand your own thinking process, but we, the audience, will not always get they've died. I think Cliff's Notes wouldn't be as obvious as the actual scene, anyways, but it's understandable why you didn't show it.
