Socialism is a failed attempt at communism. Many will claim socialism is a means to get to communism but it never happens. And I wouldn't say it defines republicans so much as replublicrats and democans. Remember the democrats have controlled the house the last two years and for the next two and they had to approve of the socialist bailouts passed by Bush and the largest chunk of the control over industry parts were added by democrats.

After 3 revisions the Dems can shift blame. Socialism is communism gone wrong. In a socialist government the government controls everything (which I agree we are headed that way and it sucks). Under true communism there is no government as the people are the government, communities are responsible for themselves, picture a republic without the politicians and you have communism. Communism would be excellent but it has never been shown to be effective in the long run the result is socialism.
