  • Nice Chits!! I guess I won't have to worry much about that dark side of fame, LOL! I really enjoyed the song. Are you familiar with an old Phil Ochs song called "The Chords Of Fame"? One of my old favorites. Search for it on youtube... Keep cranking them out!! Great!

  • @churowitz

Thanks, Case, once again for your sweet comments on "I Wanna Be Famous," and "Mary Jane." No, I'm not familiar with Phil Och's song. I'll have to find it and listen to it. :) Janet

  • Hey J....I don't think I have heard this one.....WOW....I have my own views on FAME as well....pretty much goes along with what you have written here. I think Fame can be a two edged sword for certain. Love this song! T:)

  • @agrlfmtx

Thanks, T, glad you liked this! Yep, this is certainly about the double edged sword of fame. I really have no desire to be famous, but unfortunately, if you're gonna get your work heard, it does take putting it out there. I wouldn't mind the money though, hehe. :) J.

  • gday dear Janet i find it totaly amazing you can reach to the clouds and put fantastic

lyrics together right on the button of a very apt subject and put it together so beautifully

so the people listning is put right into the story that so many of us can relate to so glad you are back say gday to hubby for me and have a great safe week janet and peace.

  • @yogifromoz

Aww, what a sweet comment, Yogi, you're just the best! I'll tell hubby you said hello. :) Janet

  • @SimoneLikesYou

Hahaha, I loved your comment. This song is not so much about me being famous as what fame does to people. And yep, I am too old. Wouldn't want to compete with the Mileys and the Britney's anyway. Also, thanks for saying I'm good....that was nice. :) Janet

  • Wow :) Your really good!

  • @Emmma360

Thanks so much, Emmma. :) Janet

  • thanks watch, lord wont you help me!

  • You make tears well up in my eyes. Wonderful. Wonderful sounds.

  • @couchpotatotheatre

Aww, BDM, thanks so much, that's such a sweet comment. Most of my stuff is country and I realize it's kind of hard for some folks to enjoy, but occasionally, I'll do some alternative or rock oriented stuff. :) Janet

  • It's so good to see you back Janet! Another wonderful song from you. Great, thoughtful lyrics.

  • @fourteentwelve

What kind words, Jimmy. I think the same of your channel! :) Janet

  • Hi Janet, great to hear a new song from you. The lyrics are very good.

    Very nice greetings from Anette

  • @TanteA

Thanks so much, Anette, I really appreciate the kind words. Hope you're having a wonderful day. :) Janet

  • Welcome back Janet . It good to see you doing your thing. Giving us a good song with food for thought.

  • @jhankri

Thanks, Barbara, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :) Janet

  • I'm probably getting to sound like a broken record, Janet, but it's your ability to capture the essence of complex ideas in a few perfectly focused phrases that makes your songs work so well. I think you've identified the very essence of 21st century celebrity culture. For all that your song may be nominally about Britney Spears, it's equally applicable to any number of wannabes. I can think of several British examples. Terrific stuff, Janet - it's great to have you back.

    Best wishes,

    Paddy

  • @oldfolkiepad

Thaks so much, Paddy. Oh, you can keep on saying it, hehe. I love it when you say I can capture a whole idea in a just a few phrases, hehe. I always appreciate your very well thought out comments. I think they have improved my writing actually. :) Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.

  • P.S. Somehow I became unsubbed to you?! FIxed that!

  • Isn't it fun to put on some different skin for a moment...and sing somebody else's song? You have a real talent for seeing things the way they look through another person's eyes and I really enjoy that about your songs! Great to hear you singing again! I have been away and was very happy to read your good news!!! You deserve good things and I am so relieved to hear that things are resolved! I agree with my buddy Michael, you're a great asset to our circle! Faved! xo NAncy

  • @nllleonard

Aww, Nancy, you're just so sweet. You always give me such good encouragement, and I really appreciate that! I love being part of this circle too. No prob about the unsub. There are so many glitches in Youtube these days. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :) Janet

  • Hello Janet, you have such a wonderful voice !!! I really enjoyed your great written song !! all stars from me !!! Karen from München :-))

  • @karenmuenchen

Thanks once again, Karen, I hope you have a wonderful weekend as well. :) Janet

  • Sounds like you put some serious thought into this song, Jan, and it certainly paid off. I agree with Michael about that circle of community thing. Nice neighborhood to hang out in around here. Again, welcome back. ~ Mark

  • @manriq47

Thanks, Mark, yes, Michael is right, this is a great community. So glad you're a part of it too. :) Janet

  • Great song....i like the circle of community more and more,,,glad You are a vital part of it.

    Michael

  • @reliablebow

Thanks so much, Michael, you are just so kind. I'm glad to be part of this community too. :) Janet

  • wonderfully done.

  • @couchpotatotheatre

Thanks so much, Couchpotato, I really appreciate your kind words! :) Janet

  • Jnaet - I loved that melody - I have no musical theory so I can't describe what you did - but I just loved how the melody rolled and weaved. superb.

    Stew

  • @StubyStubyDoo

Thanks so much, Stew, so glad you liked it, buddy. :) Janet

  • wow Janet. this is written with such focus and empathy that it feels just like the author actually is and completely understands, the dark side of fame. the verse where you say "forget about the war etc" represents how the over reported situation of one person, contributes to a deminishing value of the rest of us. question...in the first verse, did you mean to print "ain't nothing i WON'T sacrafice? very sensitive, powerful story here. we all have seen it, but you showed it. fine, chuck.

  • @chuxtrux

Thanks, Chuck, yes, I did mean to print 'WON'T', I gotta change that although I somehow left the word out when I sang it too, hehe. Maybe people will think I'm just mumbling it. I'm so glad you liked this one, and you're right, this story is about how fame can diminish us as a community sometimes. Everyone gets so caught up in the celebrity culture, we can forget about the people around us and important events. :) Janet

  • Hi Janet... :o)

It's sooo nice to have you back.

Sing me your song sweetheart I'm listening.

Love this...!!! Thank you for sharing.

    ~Trisha~

  • @trishabrd

Thanks, Trisha, so glad you enjoyed it. I really appreciate your sweet comment! :) Janet

  • Nice work, my friend. Always a treat to hear your wonderful originals. I think the desire for fame is some kind of obsessive–compulsive disorder. I know people who had a little early success in show biz and spent their entire lives chasing a dream. But, of course, we’re all in it to one extent or another. Like the Kinks say: “Everybody’s in show biz”. I really liked your perspective on this. Good to have you back..

  • @karlmahlmann

Thanks, Karl, always great to get comments from you, friend. The sad thing about fame is that if you want to get your work heard, you unfortunately have to make a deal with the devil sometimes. And that's really a sad thing. :) Janet

  • Great song Janet, all so true.

It's a joy to see you back and in good form.

    A big thumbs up.

    Take care

    BoB

  • @Mendips251

Thanks, Bob, so glad you enjoyed it! It's good to be back. :) Janet

  • Oh sweet Janet, such a pleasure to hear your voice and music. I will just rest in that.

  • @oldvision

Aww, thanks, Gary. I hope the day is treatin' ya right. :) Janet

  • Great song Janet....missed your sense of vision. Feeling the sadness for an overexposed starlet and creating a beautiful tune about it. Really amazing. Great song to start off the New Year. Thanks.

  • @PatrickGMoran

Thanks, Patrick, you are always so kind, and you're one greatly talently person too! :) Janet

  • @nidgetucker

Hey, Nidge, yep, the media can be so nasty at times.

Thanks for all the kind words, buddy, I always appreciate them. :) Janet

  • @Hippie1944

    Thanks, Hippie. :) Janet

  • @TheMasterEtheatre

Thanks, Eddie. You are so kind, and I appreciate it. :) Janet

  • @Filiz2805

Aww, Filiz, you're so sweet, I really appreciate your kind words here! :) Janet

  • high Janet

how nice to hear your voice again. this is a very nice song.

    all the best chaitanya

  • @chaitaiji2010

Thanks, Chaitanya, so glad you enjoyed it. :) Janet

  • A very thoughtful track Janet - insightful and nicely delivered as ever.

On the subject of fame - who would the hell would want that? Look at all those who find it in excess - how many of them are truly happy?

Good to have you back Janet.

    Simon

  • @goreedy

Thanks, Simon. I agree, fame isn't something I would want either. I'd like the money, hehe, but the fame part I can do without. It's good to be back. :) Janet

  • You're a true star Janet

This is full of good olde soul!! great sounds

    cool lyrics!

  • @kennymelodica

Thanks, KM, you are so sweet! :) Janet

  • Amongst a select group, I do believe you ARE famous, Janet!

In this song I believe you are presenting celebrity as a public service - entertainment, someone whose mistakes we can learn from, make self-comparisons to, and say, "Boy! I'm glad I'm not in HER shoes!".... it doesn't take much of a slip to trigger a feeding frenzy though!

Nice song, Janet! Strong guitar playing...

  • @cadwalladee

    Haha, me famous?

Good interp of the song, Scott. I wanted to drive home a point about fame being both toxic to the person who's famous and the public as well. And that especially happens with that feeding frenzy as you mention. The celebrity culture can bring out the worst in us all, I think. :) And yet, for creative people, fame can also bring us the recognition for our work, so it's sort of a bargain with the devil. Janet

  • Great song, Janet! Thumbs up!

  • @oniichanrikku

Aww, thanks, Alex, I appreciate that. :) Janet

  • Keep the fame, I'll just take the money :-) I'm pleased to hear you say your heart went out to Brittany - I thought I was about the only one that, for her sake, wished the press would just leave her alone for a while. Plus, I thought there was much more important "news" that should have been reported on at the time. Good one, Janet. It's always great to hear what you have to say.

    Bob

  • @1catbob

Hey, Bob, that's exactly how I feel, I'll take the money, hehe. I did feel sorry for Brittany. I know that celebrities have to court the spotlight to get their work out there, but I don't think it's right that the press can go so overboard with reporting. But it's all about money for them, pure and simple. Bad press sells more than good press sometimes. Luckily, The National Enquirer has had to file for bankruptcy, lol. Thanks, so much for your kind comment. :) Janet

  • Good Song Janet .. Great topic..Its Hard to Feel Bad for People with Bucks Though, at Least for Me..I still subscribe to The Charlie Manson School Of Thought.. Play the Beatles little Piggies ..It allTrue Theyre allways stiring Up The Dirt..and for all the Lil Piggies Life is Getting Worse always Having Dirt to Play around In... I Mean charlie was Nuts But He Caught That !!!

  • @Carlfgauge

Thanks, Carl, glad you enjoyed it. This song has a dual meaning in that it doesn't let the fame seeker off the hook completely. The person who seeks fame knows what they're in for. :) Janet

  • Welcome back -- still writing those great topical tunes of 21st centrury life -- it is good to see different prespectives and that is what you do so well. Keep writing those songs! This was a good one.

  • @Mandolin1944

Thanks, Bernie, I love writing the topical stuff. I really appreciate your kind words. :) Janet

  • very large price to pay. nicely told Janet. Crazy Al ;)

  • @TheDarksEmpyrean

Thanks so much, Al. I appreciate the nice words. :) Janet

  • Hi Janet! Hope things are well with you, and real nice job with this song!

  • @Johnfern99

Well, hey, John, it's so good to see you around! I'm gonna come visit your channel when I have a chance. And thanks! :) Janet

  • Michael Jackson Dorothy Dandridge Bruce Lee Elvis Presley Keith Moon Heath Ledger Anna Nicole Smith Gerald Levert Chris Penn Dana Plato Rob Pilatus Margaux Hemingway Steve Clark
  • @red777photo

Yep, fame is toxic, so many celebrities are destroyed by it. That's a good list, Graeme. :) Janet

  • @red777photo

That list could go on and on sadly. :) Add Freddie Prince to it.

  • Janet, you got me a thinking. So good to hear you again.. Lenny Bruce Janis Joplin Jimmy Hendrix Mamma Cass Tommy Dorsey John Entwistle Chris Farley John Belushi Anna Nicole Smith Judy Garland Margaux Hemingway Marilyn Monroe Jim Morrison Gram Parsons River Phoenix Ike Turner Sid Vicious Just to mention a few....
  • very cool song, nice quality , sound and video! welcome back!

  • @bigdaddytsc

Thanks, Dennis, I appreciate the nice words! :) Janet

  • boy, there sure is a dark side of fame, even on utube.

    lovin it and u.

    michael

  • @mettanc

Hey, Michael, yes, even Youtube isn't immune from the fame monster.

Thank you so much for the kind words; love you and your music too! :) Janet

  • Janet, This is so great. One my favs of yours thus far. Good to see you back playing and writing some excellent songs for all of us to enjoy. Bravo Bravo!!

    Mark

  • @busywave

Thanks, Mark, for your very kind comment. So glad you liked it. I enjoyed writing this one. :) Janet

  • great song and very true but iot is not all the fault of the media I think

if you shave your head or come out of taxi with no underwear being

famous already you must know the effect of those things

I think it is a need for attention

look at lady Gaga, in this way they get attention and attention means

    being noticed

Madonna did a masturbation scene on stage knowing the police would come

why? because a thing like that is publicity, paper articles

  • @7lizet

Thanks, Lizet. This song does have a dual meaning. While I feel sorry for the fame seeker, it's also about the fame seeker wanting fame too, so no one is really let off the hook. It's about how toxic fame is for everyone. Lady Gaga is so over the top, I agree. I like her music, but she's really tested the boundaries. :) Janet

  • @onewomanandsomesongs

yeah thats true and I think it is a pity because people should like you for your music not for your act

    don't you agree?

or shall I make a video dressed up in tape like a nice juicy meat roll LOL

well I don't like a diet of baby food brrrrrrrrr

  • @7lizet

Yep, I agree. It should be more about the music than the act. It's one reason why I don't gussy up so much in my videos, hehe. I want it to more about the music. BTW, I owe you some messages, Lizet, and I will answer soon. :) Janet

  • Janet,...first, the lyrics are perfect. Very well written. After that, I have to say that the time off hasn't hurt you a bit. In fact, it is apparent you're more relaxed, singing better than ever [seriously] with an expanded style of that famous cadence you always had, and it's coming into it's own. Really enjoying your singing on this one kiddo. Your style is coming on!

  • @tomvband

Thanks, Tom, so glad you enjoyed the song. I've been practicing a lot lately with my voice, trying to refine that cadence as you say. Sometimes, it all boils down to which song I'm singing too. Some songs, I can sing better than others. I'm really happy you liked this one 'coz I think it's one I'm happy with. :) Janet

  • Oh, I see you are back in fine form here, Janet - it's a great song with lots of truth in it. Enjoyed your singing & guitar, as well! I always enjoy your songs & lyrics! ps I felt sorry for Britney, too - she seems to have bounced back quite well, though. 8o)

  • @ImOfTheWoods

Hey, Sylvia, I'm so glad you enjoyed this one. I really enjoy writing the topical stuff. :) Janet

  • your back :D

  • @Blacckkfire

Aww, thanks, Blacckfire, you're so sweet. :) Janet

  • Bravo beautifully you play and sing this song Pozrav Janet

    Gipsi Inan

  • @Madzuri

Thanks so much, Gipsi Inan, for your very kind comment. Greetings to you as well. :) Janet

  • So glad to see you back! You're songs are always so well thought out.

  • @scratchingcat

Thanks, Ute, I'm so glad to be back! :) Janet

  • I love this song!!! Thumbs Up

  • @skeletone111

Thanks, Tony, I'm glad you're diggin' it. :) Janet

  • awesome song! great lyrics!

  • @mrBrianlovesmovies

Thanks, Bri, so glad you enjoyed it! :) Janet

  • Great song Janet I have added it to my favourites list to me and all your friends and fellow artist on you tube who love you and respect you to us you are famous .

  • @rockingphil58

Thanks, Phil, you are just so kind and thanks for the favorite too. :) Janet

  • Good to see you, Janet. They say that any publicity is good for people in the lime light. I think in Brittney's case the publicity back fired.

  • @DearestBecky

Thanks, Becky, yep, fame really turned ugly for Brittney. :) Janet

  • very good job!!!

  • @creole968

Thanks so much, Creole, I appreciate the nice words. :) Janet

  • We build 'em up and tear 'em down. Great lyrics, especially the first 4 lines.
