  • Some constructive criticism (and I am in no way a musician), the tone was spot-on, but it's too slow compared to Cooder's movie version. I still like it, though! Btw, the ending, I believe, is left open to interpretation. One of the theories of the plot is that the military was in on the whole thing. So, do they get out, who knows? That's what makes it great, thinking back on what all happened to them. Great movie, in my Top 10 of all time!

  • Thanks for your constructive feedback. Be sure to check out my newest "Southern Comfort Final Cover" and let me know what you think about that one. take care

  • @christianfff , your Final Cover is much better than the Theme Improv. Nice job!

  • Much appreaciated :)

  • Im on Cajun side those city boys shuldnt fuck with them!!!!

  • good movie I am used to the swamps though i been in them all my life. I would not want to fuck withthem cajuns

  • I didnt get the ending of the movie.

I mean, was it just US army picking them up,or is there more to it?

  • yeah, as i get it, they're being picked up, and then it's kinda disturbing to "think back" on the whole operation, which was just supposed to be a training mission. ..somebody shot rudolf ;)

  • I was confused by all the slow mo and stuff.

  • hehe, imagine how confused those trainee soldiers would be in such a situation :D

  • @ManSmokingACigarette Those guys NEVER made it out of the swamp.

  • yeah it was casper who made the bayonet charge he was a good soldier but he died foolishly

  • Great tone...

I first, I thought this was the actual soundtrack...

  • thanks man! i can honestly say that i've reached the mood tone-wise, even if this quite a simple interpetation of the tune. Sonn tohugh, i will upload a new version, since i've learned half the song now. I'm looking forward to recording it!

  • I have the VHS version it gives the movie a classic feel

  • totally agree!

  • Well, I will check it out. How long you have played the slide?

  • not for too long, its been kinda on and off, but ive returned back to it more, its really fun

  • This is great! Nice and simple. I can see the movie in front of my eyes. Great film, with action and somehow disturbing atmosphere. In the middle of woods. Freaky!

  • Yep! couldnt have said it better myself :) check out the newst take! with more authentic sound :D

  • den filmen rule

  • jepp, gjør det :)

  • "You lose yourself in there no?"

  • stucky rules! bayonet charge, all is forgiven.

  • That wasnt stucky, stucky was the one who (Spoilers)drowned in quicksand.

  • Hello from France : were the cajuns realy like that?

  • hello back, from Norway! I don't really know how to define the cajun sound, except that it is built on slow blues and slide sounds. muddy/dirty sound effects helps too, and this video is as far as I got to creating such sound. not quite there, but you catch the drift ;)

  • Fan of this movie since I was a kid, don't think Boothe & Carridine did something together again till Deadwood. No scenes together though.

  • ..not searching for your soul

you'll never know where you left it or when you'll find it..or who will bring it back to you.....i feel comfort listening to you play...you got it...i think you brought it back

  • that means a lot! thanks

  • i wish someone would post the whole movie of this i really wanna watch it again its never on tv and i cant find it 2 buy it

  • not even on ebay? I used to have it on DVD, loong time ago, then it got lost from lots of moving to different homes.

  • yeah its shame my dad used to have it on vhs

  • i just wanna buy it in a shop i get fucked over too much on ebay

  • I have bought a few copies off Ebay... one of my favorite movies of all time. The other copies went to like-minded friends.

    Enjoy.

  • Hi,

    It is available. OnDVD even.

  • believe it or not I found it at Wal-Mart. you can order it rom any big chain store ,Barnes & Nobles etc. it's a Samuel Goldwen Mayor (sic) film fairly easy to find. Classic R.C. colas an Moonpies

  • Interesting interpretation, I enjoyed it.

  • Nice! you really captured the feeling of the film! I found that tuning to DADF#AD and just nusking along numerous times really got the atmos too...but brilliant...nice original version. Right there in the swamp...remember the Cajun undertones are worthwhile trying to capture

  • Thanks alot! This was done with regular guitar tuning, but watching your vid helped me more on my way. Maybe soon I will record a version with electric guitar and bottleneck, to really get the feel! got some experience there as well :)))
