This Stupid,S-! on The McNeill/Lehner Report. He talks like Mr.Bakshi has never worked on "Mighty Mouse"or on any "Terry Tunes"cartoons. This Jerk doesn't know that Mr.Bakshi had worked on"MM"and the other "Terry Tunes"..long before he began work on this new version.
@143AC Well when John went with the character in "The Ripping Friends", he changed it to the Indigestible Wad. Which I think is better than Billy (which I think he just came up with at that moment, so he came up with a quick and dirty name).
For the last time, Mighty Mouse was inhaling a flower- NOT COCAINE!!!! It was one of Reverend Donald Wildmon's "faithful flock" who supposedly saw the alleged scene on TV, reported it to his organization- and that's why CBS caved in to pressure from Wildmon's group to eventually cancel the series.
I think it was the coke scene (although Bakshi defends it was just crushed flowers). I read on Wikipedia that despite favorable reviews, recieving a television award, and a ranking in Time magazine's "Best of '87" feature, the show was canceled by CBS following the controversy.
That particular scene is actually shown in the DVD release of the show. I'm not kidding.
:O Thank youuu.

So was it the ratings that killed the show, or the scene with Mighty Mouse snorting coke?

It's not a documentary. It's from the McNeil/Lehrer News Hour on PBS.
The full clip of Bakshi shows him meeting Judy Price at CBS about Mighty Mouse.

Thanks, Kelly! I'll add that to the description.
I didn't recognize the voice of the narrator! I'm gonna try to track down the full clip.

Wow, everyone looks so young! It's almost hard to believe it's been 20 years since that footage was recorded.
Thanks for posting this. From what program was this excerpt taken?
