I'm going to safely assume you've never watched a single Mel Brooks movie all the way through, so you can't truly appreciate the comedy you're making reference to. Also, Young Frankenstein was filmed in 1974. It was filmed in black and white to pay homage (that's respect, so you don't have to find the dictionary), to old horror movies of the 20's and their actors like Bela Lugosi and Boris Karloff, both of whom I would heavily wager you've never heard of.
