  • i cant tell from images, are the keys rubber capped

it seems as if there is not a single mechanical, green back-lit, rubber keyed, and simple framed keyboard out there

if anyone knows of such a keyboard id love to know, however if the keys on these are rubber coated then im set as the design on this is amazing

  • What's the difference between a DK1008 and a DK9008S?

  • @omg123596 I believe its the backlighting. No other duckie keyboard has backlighting behind every key like this one does.

  • @shukero Thanks for quick reply, subscribed C:

  • Why are the printed characters inverted on this keyboard?

For eg, usually the question mark symbol is ABOVE the forward slash but with this KB the question mark symbol is BELOW the forward slash. What a deal breaker, why deviate from the standard? I don't understand the mechanical KB manufacturer's logic, eg another questionable thing these manufacturers tend to do is remove the 'left windows key' and replace it with a media toggle button. So EXCEPTIONALLY annoying.

  • I've had my ducky shine keyboard for almost a month now (green led's and blue switches :3) and I love it! First mechanical keyboard and ill never go back to a rubber dome. I kinda wish I went with the brown switches as some say the tactile feedback isn't as noticeable as the blues. I really wish mechanical keyboards could be in stores so you can try each switch out (aside from the Razer keyboard at BestBuy), One day Ill own all switch types... one day.

  • @Krazycougar22 The brown switches are excellent on this great board.

  • I got the keyboard today and i noticed it that my LOCK, keys are Blue when i press them. Yours are blue.

  • I ordered my Ducky with blue led but it looks more like purple to me... idk why :P

  • does ur 1x (calculator key) led key ever turn off? mine doesn't. also the 2x, 3x and 4x leds never turn on. is this the case with yours?

  • @Omb101frc I received an email about your reply saying something along the lines of: "I saw duckie... then china... then I pressed stop."

So let me just give you my reply anyway even though you removed it: (1) Duckie is a VERY well known brand all over Asia; and is known as much as steal series is over here. (2) As for china; yes it may be built there but so is about 99% of all electronics... even from steal series. (well either in China or Taiwan)

  • Spamming SD i see ^^

  • @OdiousTea I don't really know what that comment means. but if you are talking about the video quality, yeah... it's not the best since my camera is kinda crappy. Trying to get a better one but the money isn't there.

  • are the keys flimsy? I just sent back my blackwidow and bought this instead, the keys rocked back and forth a little on the blackwidow, which I don't like.

  • @CheeseMoe13 I would not call them flimsy but yes they will move about .5 mm from left to right if you rock they keys back and forth. THis is something unavoidable with any keyboard. Especially ones that have interchangeable keys.

  • @shukero Its from taiwan not china...I'm just saying

  • @HatrednIgnorance You may be right, it might be made in taiwan but I believe the company is chinese.

  • @shukero Yea...I bought one too...Wanted Cherry Red But Out of stock I got the brown too :D

  • @wesley830 it is very nice quality and best gaming keyboard I've had out of the 5 I've owned

  • $145 is a lot to drop on a keyboard. Is it worth it? I'll be using it as my gaming keyboard.

  • does the caps lock light up red whenever caps is activated?

  • @jamin3d Yes

  • So whats the build quality like? I was thinking of getting the rabbit edition 9008.

  • @underlord83 Build quality is amazing, I've had a few weeks now to put it through the paces with gaming, lan party's and basically murder fests, and this keyboard has been through several beatings... literally. I'm not one to say I've never gotten made at lag, hackers, or just plain bullshit. SO I've been known to beat my keyboard out of frustration. (closed handed of course) and it hasn't flinched at all. this is WHAT keybords are MEANT to be built as.

  • @shukero So good quality.. good haha hopefully rabbit is same if not better..

  • 06:41 sucking fucktion.. function that we are goi..

    LOL

  • Is there a reason why they advertise the red back-light keys (Caps to name one) as green. I would prefer green far more than the red. Do you know if there will be any with the green back-light instead of the red?

    Awesome review, thanks!

  • @masteryummy Hmmm, I really haven't seen it anywhere, where it's advertised as green. That might be the retailers mistake. As none of the shine's I've ever seen have green backlight caps locks. The normal Ducky keyboards do have green lights behind the lock keys but I wouldn't call those backlit.

  • I just received this keyboard today and love it. Mine came with a manual on a sheet of paper, that indicates the purpose of the switches on the back. They are DIP switches with the following functionality enabled when the switch is set to on:

    1 - disables Win key

2 - switches Caps Lock and Ctrl keys

3 - switches Alt and Win key

    4 - no function

  • @Cha0ticKinesis Thanks! Unfortunately mine was missing any manual :( but there we go!

  • You're reviewing a backlit keyboard and never once did you turn off the lights in your room. LOL. Good review though.

  • @wesley830 Didn't need to, since the lights are bright enough even on their dimmest setting to be shown in the video, which just shows how great the keyboard back lighting is :) The overhead lighting in my room was maxed out, so people that are worried about how dim the keyboard is need not worry ^_^

  • @shukero Same, the LEDs are so bright it is almost blinding yet it still looks crips and clear.

  • Planning on getting mine from tiger imports soon!

  • I can also tell you all something interesting I just found out about the keyboard; the space bar actually has 1 brown switch in the middle and 2 black switches on either side even though it is a brown switch keyboard.... VERY interesting :3

  • @shukero does it make the spacebar hard to press?

  • @shukero Did some looking into it, those are not actually mx switches, they are 2 proxy switches on the sides of the mx brown.

  • well I think the one video I saw the guy was confused, everything else I find as of right now say ABS.

  • @Ratjack I can't really say as this was the first time I've ever heard of ABS and PBT caps. I just did a little google searching under it and I'm guessing you are asking about the quality of the keys am I right? If so, I can tell you that these keys are indeed of very high quality. The replacement red keys that also come with this product feel a bit more flimsy / unfinished when compared to the others.

  • @shukero ya, the two different plastics had different characteristics. ABS: Solvents will "melt" the keys Keys develope "shine" faster Low Cost Light Weight PBT: Can Survive up to 150*C (or more in some cases) Resistant to solvents Mechanically Strong Does not "shine" as fast Expensive Its good to hear it feels like its high quality, My ducky shine should be here next week!
  • @Ratjack very cool. I believe that the keys are PBT now that you explained it to me. The keys already connected to the keyboard are definitely higher grade quality than my previous keyboard (eclipse 2) which did have ABS keys. (Started shining after about 2 months of use) hope you like it!

  • Does this have PBT caps or ABS caps? I have seen on their website it says ABS but other people making these videos are saying that on the back of the box it says its PBT caps.
