Tim Russert's goal in this interview was to make Ron Paul look like a wacko and a hypocrite; instead, Russert ended up looking like an idiot as his criticisms were shreaded piece-by-piece.
Ronald Reagan has to be the most overrated president. Ron Paul has the guts to point this out. It makes me sick how many fellow libertarians hail him as a great leader. The Soviet Union would have collapsed whether we ran up huge debt or not; socialism is a self-defeating system.
You can see in this interview how beneficial it is to always tell the truth and act as you preach, as Paul had an honest and pertinent rebuttal to EVERY assault on his character.
Every day that passes proves him more and more accurate about the economic and political state of the US.
You're right. Every question Tim Russert asks, Dr Paul answers beautifully and with great detail. No slogans, no generalisations. Absolutely brilliant.
i'm sorry for tim russert's family. but he is a terribly rude interviewer, just like o'reilly and other journalists, who keep on cutting off the interviewee's answers. LET THEM ANSWER!
I think you've been fuckin' brainwashed with Rupurt Murdoch's seed, you blind maggot. See if whichever candidate you prefer is "interviewed" with this much objectivity and respect and maintains their relative views and remains as classy and mature as RP. You deserve an ID chip. Beg for it! Roll over!! Good sheep!
i hated when poeple think that just because u dont support the war then ur unpatriotic. Must i support the soldiers that kill innocent civillians? i dont trust any soldiers.
With other candidates' close-up interviews, you can almost SEE them thinking about every pose and every phrase and every research-proven hand gesture and everything they know about marketing and sales as they talk...
Ron Paul always has like 14 thoughts related to what he's about to say and I hope more shows and interviews keep giving him the time to answer like this one, because he's always tying things together and answering as fully as he can.
Anyone foolish enough to believe that this interview was an awesome success for Ron Paul is either deaf, stupid, naive, or all three. This was a disaster, Ron Paul's extreme views are painfully exposed. A nice guy, but a bizarre candidate...
He didn't misquote anything and it is his job to probe the candidates' records - Russert is always a tough interview and he treats all his guests the same. Anyway, Ron Paul did a great job defending his record and any intelligent person can see he has always been very consistent.
This interview like most I have seen with Ron Paul have a tone of having him on the stand. They try so hard to discredit him while he has the cleanest record/with most integrity in Washington. Compare him to any other candidate (DEM or REP) and they all look horrible. Do your own research! RON PAUL 2008!
Ron Paul is a voice crying in the wilderness... Tim Russert is just the typical status quo mindset. That mind set is sinking this country. Ron Paul is right... We do not need troops in Europe... anymore than Europe needs troops in America... We have to cut spending or go bankrupt... We do not need to police the world... this will exhaust the military and they will not be able to handle a real war if it came along.
He's pretty good at handling these things. His over-reliance on the constitution is a little disturbing. Seeing it as a fixed document is probably a bad idea. Running down Reagan is suicide in republican circles. There is an almost homosexual love of Reagan by that party.
I'm just saying it's not natural for a straight man to be that much in love with another man. I don't really care that much. My point was running down Reagan is political suicide for republicans right now. He is almost a god to these people.
Yes, but Paul is right about alot of bad things happend under Regan/Bush. Irangate, The CIA running wild in South America, trickle-down-economics, union busting, mentaly ill Vets put out on the street ect..
I'm not arguing with you dude. I also think the claim that he ended the cold war is questionable at best. But there is a glossy-eyed affection for Reagan that exists among republicans. It's silly, but it's there.
I'm glad that people ask Ron Paul tough questions & cut him off because it only goes to show how fearful the media is of him. They try to force him to take a position they want him to take. I love how he handles himself. It only goes to show how much he believes in his convictions.
but what happens after ron paul? I will vote for Ron Paul, but I am just worried if the youth will keep their motivation to be free and stop greed of power and control.
I already gave him $100.00. I am going to give more now. Eliminate IRS and Federal Reserve and pull all our troops and federal aid and we suddenly don't need any taxes.
Remember - these guys have months and all kinds of researchers to set their traps on the final day of the interview. Ron Paul has two seconds to respond. Russert got whooped, though, in the final analysis.
If you "spring" a question on someone, with the *intent* to harm him, (evidenced by Russert's hit and run methods), then it's a trap. Give RP a chance to explain before running to the next question. If voters need to know, let RP reply.
I thought the same thing! How much and what does Timmy know! I would like to see Timmmy ask the President some tough hard questions about his disregard for the Constitution!
Republicanism is the ideology of governing a nation as a republic, with an emphasis on liberty, rule by the people, and the civic virtue practiced by citizens.
No, no, no. The most important part of your answer is incorrect. A Republic is Rule By Law, not rule by the people. That is what a Democracy is. People can be fooled, programmed and coersed into doing things (i.e. mob rule, might makes right, etc.) That is why the Founders set up the U.S. as a Republic. For those who keep saying we live in a Democracy, I would ask you to recite the Pledge Of Allegience. It say's in part: "...and to the Republic, for which it stands ..."
Self governance simply means that you are no longer a "colony" to another government. It does not say what kind of government you'll have. At the Second Continental Congress the colonies voted and decided to fight and become an independant country ... no longer "colony's". THEN, they had to decided what TYPE of government they'd have. A monarch, a theocracy, a democracy, a republic, etc. As you know, a republic won out.
So, we aren't debating ideologies, we are discussing definitions.
Yes, and then we had to decide if we would research horseback riding or iron working first, and later on, whether we will win by domination or by space race!!!
It's okay, I learned a lot from Civilization also. :P

artleigh 4 years ago
Republicanism is the ideology of governing a nation as a republic, with an emphasis on liberty, rule by the people, and the civic virtue practiced by citizens.

Well this is the definition that i found. People can debate over ideologies all they like.
A republic specifically is the ideology of self-governance. The factors of rule of reprisentation OF the people still counts, as well as liberty.
Oronare 4 years ago
Self governance simply means that you are no longer a "colony" to another government. It does not say what kind of government you'll have.
