RIP ELLIOTT SMITH U WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN OR REPLACED!! XO <3

  • Thanks a lot.

  • My favorite line

"my feelings never change a bit, i always feel like shit, i don't know why, i guess that i just do!!"

  • wow that was amazing, good song too

  • Thanks a lot :-) .

  • wow that is excellent.

  • Thanks - I'm glad you liked it :-)

  • beautiful

  • Thank you...

  • This song is one of the most meaningful to me. And you kicked it's ass. Great performance. ^_^

  • Thanks :-)

  • Hey Andy! Since recently on youtube, too ;)

p.s. This one is my favorite!

  • Thanks very much!

  • Of the covers I've heard of this song, yours is the best. But hey, why not, you could redo it so you nail the "you once talked to me about love and you painted pictures of" but still, it's really good. your guitar techniques is really strong.

  • Thanks a lot :-). To be honest, there's lots of the stuff I've put up here that I would really like to rerecord - it's just it takes me so long to get close to 'that perfect take'! So I've been a little bit lazy in what I've put up... also, haven't had a lot of time to record stuff recently, due to an impending wedding, but maybe after the honeymoon... thanks again for your reaction!

  • really dig this. you did this by ear, huh? really nice. great how you preserved the classical-ness and such.

  • Thanks :-). I did do it by ear, but I found it easier to pick it out from a piano/vocal version I found (by Elliott Smith himself) on youtube rather than the a Capella version from XO.

  • Amazing.

I've been a bit obsessed with listening to and learning how to play Elliott Smith's music for about 3 months or so now. I love how the particular song I'm obsessing over keeps changing every week or so.

You just cemented this one as my new temporary favourite.

  • Thanks - he is an amazing talent, isn't he? This was always a favourite of mine, but because I only knew the a capella version, I didn't really consider learning it until recently... but very glad I did!

  • I've always thought of this song as Elliott Smith's tribute to The Beatles "Because"...because of the layered-vocal acapella style (although the Beatles song did have some instruments in it).

  • Hey! I somehow missed your comment when you made it! But i definitely agree, it has a very similar feel to 'Because' (which was always one of my favourite Beatles songs). But as with so many of his songs, Elliott's version seems to push past the melancholy of 'Because', right through to the depths of sadness. Such a sad life, but at least he left us with so much...

  • very, very, nice.

  • Thank you very much

  • Nicely done! Do you have any tabs that you could post up?

  • Hi & thanks! I'm afraid I don't have tabs; and, I can't quite recall what strings I was playing (I've only just figured out the song), but the chords in the first bit are E, Am, F, G, G#dim (I think; with 4th fret on the E str, A muted, open D, 1st fret on the G), Am, Bb; Am, Am7 (G bass), F. Then the other bit is G, C, F, C, Dm, Am. I think the original has the last F is played as Dm, but for some reason it didn't sound quite right when I played it that way. Hope that helps...

  • amazing man! im surprised theres not more views and comments!

  • Well, thanks for yours, anyway :-). It's not been up too long, but it's certainly nice to know someone likes it :-D.
