  • can u send me a link to where i can buy this camera

  • Question, for anyone who owns this camera - how's the audio? Now, I *know* I can't expect the same quality as in a high-end $400 monster camcorder, but... is the audio on the Vado at least acceptable for YT vlogging and short amateur films? Would it be worth it to spend more on a Flip to get better audio, or are they both about the same?

  • @starxcandyx I'd say it's alright but I can't comment on the comparison between the Vado and Flip based on personal experience. Personally, I think the difference is minimal but it's probably not really THAT much better. Either way, I think the difference comes down to if you have a Windows or Mac. If Windows, Vado is better, but if Mac, people tell me the Flip is better and I can understand why.

  • @starxcandyx high-end $400 monster camcorder ? kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • @starxcandyx the audio is some what ok little quiet though but, there is an audio output so you can plug in a microphone which would be great for vloogging i also have a vado

  • great image, but trembling too much

  • The Flip Ultra Definitely Has Better Quality. I noticed that the color grading is pretty bad.

  • Watching in HD for me is overrated on Youtube. It takes a long time for the video to download and it always stops.

  • bad camra sorry

  • sounds like the Vado is a better value than the Flip Mino and the Kodak Zi8

  • awesome in 720P - may order it. Its very small and cheap for the quality !

  • its stunning in 720p

  • Hi, i'm curious...how many MB has become this video you uploaded?

  • @cammello89 I'm not really sure, because I don't have the original file for this anymore. I was able to find another video that was of comparable length and content and it's about 50 megabytes.

  • Artifacts @ 0:30 - 0:38

  • When i watch it in 720p its jumpy (i assume this is my Pc) when i watch it in lower quality its fairly smooth but less sharp..

Can someone tell me wether this is jumpy or its my pc.. cos i might buy one of these.. any help pleaseeeeee

  • @terryfink It's mostly youTube, but also depends on your computer as well. When I play the video straight from the camera or on my local hard drive, it's perfectly fine.

  • I gave in and bought one, should be here tues

  • @terryfink

thats youtube, hit pause and let it load fully (may take abit depending on your connection speed) but it makes it play smoother as its not loading

  • You and your camara LOL

  • Comment removed

  • is this HD plus or HD?

  • @WhoaThatWasAwesome I don't remember for sure, but I think it was just HD and not HD+

  • You must of rendered it wierd.. its kinda blurred and shaky

  • @Voheezy I didn't render or re work the footage at all. This footage is straight from the cam.

  • It is recorded in HD , Press the HD icon on the youtube player and it is the crisp and clear ..

  • I did

Its not rendered correctly, Im trying to help him out.

  • Here is the problem Flash Video in which youtube uses hasn't gone HD yet. The latest Flash Player is 10 which doesn't support the HD H.264 video codec. Wait until the final release of Flash Player 10.1 comes out which will be soon that will support the HD H.264 video codec and when that happens, you will see true HD viewing Flash Video, but your graphics card on your computer has to support the HD H.264 video codec in order to veiw an HD Flash Video.

  • its too choppy

  • just your computer

  • no the camera has like 5 frames per second

  • Nice cam man, good quality ..better then flip, is it as shaky as flip when you move it around or is it just your steady hand?

  • @the2012man I guess the steadiness is the same because neither cam has a stabilizer.

  • Fuck the flip hd it is the worst out of all of the pocket hd camcorders.

  • ikr im getting a vado to and a had a chice of the vado or a flip

  • @11danzizzle11 may i ask y u think that? i have a flip ultra i think its as good as this quality wise.

  • People when are you going to figure this one out.... "Youtube" videos are POOOR not matter what the camera that its recorded on.. I have this Vado HD and love it and the footage connected to a tv or computer Is NIGHT & DAY compared to the footage here on Youtube. There is "NO" HD video on Youtube.. By the time it gets compressed for streaming here its garbage. This is because space and bandwith issues. Its a free site. The best part about Vado HD is the wide Lens. Small size and 124 $ price

  • dude have you seen any of shane dawson's videos or thestation , have you seen how clear they are, and besides if you have a full hd monitor 920 by 1080 youtube videos will look very sharp and clear

  • Are you actually serious.... Those videos of Shane Dawson are far far from HD quality of a Large screen in home HD player. There is no such thing as "HD" on youtube.. Yes there is better res from standard youtube vids compared the HD version labeled by Youtube but its NOT actual HD video. you wont get that here on you tube..

  • @rmstudio and now its under $100

  • @SuperChuck3 I know its been 89.00 bucks on amazon for almost 5 months now. Its a bargain for what you pay compared to the stupid crappy flip. The HD flip is 200 does not have any where near the capacity of the Vado for recording and the size factor. I belong to the flip forum or FB group & twitter and Flip users are constantly complaining about the flip dying. The wide angle lens is seriously the best aspect about the vado.

  • @rmstudio I just bought the vado HD and i have 2 questions

1.How long i need to charge it for the first time?

2.If i recorderd a video and i play it in windows media players is it then also 720

    P?

  • @degrommeisterug I would always charge "Any" electronic device "Fully" the first 1 or 2 times you use it.... On the vado it takes about 1 and a 1/2 to charge it the first time.. I would do that the first 2 times you use it...

The video footage will be played at 720 but only if you recorded that footage of video in the HD setting. If you recorded in "Standard" quality it will not be 720P.

  • good but not impressed. somewhat jerky frames. could it be because sensors are smaller?

  • The frame droppage is YouTube. This same video file played locally doesn't drop frames like it does here.

  • ah i see. is this the one with hdmi plug? how much is this now

  • Yeah, mine came with an hdmi plug. When I bought it, I think it was about $180, but I just saw a sale on it on the creative outlet website for $130 or so. It's a decent pocket cam, but it's not without flaws.

  • Vado is good cause of wider lense. I have kodak hd and it works good too. Look at my 8hour in motion video to see the quality.

  • This looks really good! But why is the thing like not going fast enough..it looks like it's freezing? Is it the camera or Youtube?

  • it's youtube, because HD videos lag for me too.

  • same i cant watch hd videos on youtube because they keep skipping around and shit, i think its because i am still on the old internet explorer and that my computer is 5 years old

  • hey i send my vids with a vado too:P

  • hey, i think i want this. but does the video lag when you recorded it? and what format does it record in.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "lag".. do you mean dropped frames or video and audio not syncing? It doesn't do either of those.

It saves it in .avi files. I don't remember the codec off-hand though.

  • ohh ok, well i didnt either lol just checking, I am trying to find the right camera. does this record in avi? so i can put it in my windows movie thing?

  • i noticed the video lags, is this a symptom of the camera or the youtube transcoding?

  • It lagged for me too, But i just think it's Youtube not the camera :) I hope so O_o

  • i like this cam 2 bad i dont have 1 lol

  • Do any of these HD cameras have an audio input jack? Or are you forced to use the inbeded mic?

  • whats better the kodak pocket video or the Vado HD

  • From what I've seen, I think the Vado HD has better visual quality (more vibrant colors, mostly) but the Kodak had better sound quality.

  • Hey I have a quick question, my windows player is messed up because windows can't update for some god awful reason. I was wondering if there is another program to view your videos

  • Can you view other YouTube videos? If so, then there's no reason you shouldn't be able to watch this video. Also, YouTube uses a Flash video player, which isn't part of Windows or any kind of Windows updates. I would suggest Googling "Download Flash", download the Flash installer from Adobe and then installing it.

  • Oh no, i can view all youtube videos just fine, I'm talking about when i record a video on my Vado and view it on the default program that comes with the camera. The program uses WMP and i was wondering if there was a different program that I Could use to view my videos.

  • Oh yeah, I just use VLC Media Player. It's free to download as well.

  • Mountians in background look amazing

  • the quality is excellent, but it seems choppy. its probably just my computer though.

  • Yeah I've seen that playing on different computers (via YouTube) gives some chopiness, especially on slower processors. Playing via the camera or your hard drive doesn't do that though.

  • Blergh! Would it kill them to just put in some cheap image stabilization?!

    Excellent quality though.

  • wow...this quality is the best i've seen in a pocketable camcorder

    i'm definitely considering purchasing one.

  • This is pretty sharp.

I was thinking of getting this or the Sony Webbie but now with the reviews on the Webbie, I am second guessing.

  • WOW, you hold it really steady! This shows how good pictures can be with this cam. Damn i want one :D

  • im gettinr the ZX1 from kodak!!

  • there's 1 simple answer to all of you about editing Kodak Zi6 or Vado's (which I believe use the same ram video format) - which is HD MOV. I tried probably 10 video editing programs, and they were all terrible at converting to WMV HD - except the best of them all - MAGIX VIDEO EDIT PRO 15. - It flawlessly converts from HD MOV to WMV HD with zero quality loss. I highly recommend it

  • i don't know about the Zi6 but the Vado records HD AVI files (not mov files) - so you don't need quick-time player for the Vado, Windows Media Player works fine.

  • hi i'm wondering what software did u use for editing vado hd videos?, it seems all my video editing software is not compatible with the format.. the vado central and muvee doesnt help either, they dont have feature to combine different clips. do let me know about software that are compatible on vado format for editing.. thanks for ur time..

  • I didn't use any editing software for this particular video, but I have used Pinnacle Studio for others and it works just fine. You may have to install and configure the correct codecs to get it working for you though.

  • I use Pinnacle also, what is the output file type for the HD video's that you have, I can't get mine to look as good as yours :/

  • This specific video wasn't put through Pinnacle, it was uploaded directly from the cam to YouTube, but I've gotten similar quality just exporting it as an AVI.. although I can't remember exactly which codec. I'll let you know when I get Pinnacle up and working on my new desktop though

  • the files from the vado HD -are- compatible with Pinnacle Studio 12, Power Director 7, MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 14, and Windows Movie Maker .. at least i have used these to edit my files (avi - H.264) and worked fine (after installation of the vado-codec .. comes with device).

  • i tried several video editors but the result is all the same, a HD video from Vado when uploaded to YouTube it becomes HQ. Of course it's noticeable that HD is much better than HQ. can you give us a tip on how to restore the video to a HD quality.

  • I didn't use an editor on this video, it was recorded in HD (as opposed to "HD+") and I uploaded it directly from the Vado to YouTube using the Creative Vado Central software included on the camera, If you need to edit the clips, I would suggest making sure that the output resolution is the same as the original video clips (I think it should be 1280 x 720), and upload it using the Vado Central software.

  • My Vado Central only works in cutting the raw video clips. But if I want to create movie specially videos I recently recorded it always say An error occurred when adding the files failed to load file(s) but it works fine on photos & music. Thats why I tried to edit my video clips on several video editing softwares. But I didnt like the results.

  • thanks for responding to my message. i guess the codec is the culprit. i'll try to configure the correct codecs. thanks again.

  • just when you produce the film, choose HD quality... I have Power Director (6 i think), and when i choose to produce a movie-clip, i can click MPEG-2, and then i can choose HD720p of HD1080i... I think the video-editing software has to be able to produce HD

  • yes, thanks. i had already configured the settings & the codecs. and the video editor that i had used is only a trial version. now i have the full version & all my videos now are in hd quality.

  • The videos play back and can upload to video services just fine on a Mac (or so I hear), but the Creative software that comes with the camera (video player/basic editor/video uploader) does not work on a Mac.

  • should i buy this or toshiba camileo s10(FULL HD)

  • I have no idea. It depends only on your camera needs, purpose, and price range. Not to mention, I do not know anything about that specific Toshiba camera.

  • wow! thanks a lot for uploading this. i think i'm gonna get the Vado HD. the video quality in HD is crazy good!!

  • Hi i just recently got my vado hd and for sum reason i can't upload to youtube. like it takes FOREVER it just keeps saying "uploading" and never finishes. i am not messin with the original vid source. it is in .avi format. do you know what the problem is? can u tell me how u upload ur vado vids?

  • I use the Vado Central program that auto loads when you plug in the USB from your Vado HD. Are you using that program or manually uploading the vids?

  • ive tried both. i think i need to be more patient. cuz my vids are like 5-6 min long.

  • youtube doesnt accept .avi

  • This clip here is an avi.

  • i need a camera mainly to video me riding my mortorcycle.

i'll be using a tank mount so the only shaking should be from the motor vibrations. hopefully it wont look too bad.

  • Ok on the creative website it says that their "central" program doesn't work on mac, does this mean I couldn't post videos on youtube?

  • I don't have a mac, but I assume that just means that you can't use their software to upload the videos. I'm guessing that just uploading them directly using YouTube's regular upload service will work just fine.

  • thanks for that and thanks for not scolding me for owning a mac lol

  • Hah, don't worry about it. Use whatever works for you.

  • never have shame my friend. i too have an Apple Macbook. all PC's bow before Mac...the superior breed ;D

  • do you know where i can buy the vado hd not online? i havent been able to find it in any stores.

  • I've never looked for it. I just bought it directly from Creative's website, sorry.

  • no problem, thanks :)

  • I have been using the Vado HD to record a few video projects and I have not really noticed any issues with the lack of a stabilizer. I shoot with a monopod most of the time, however, when going handheld you can still get good results if you are careful. The excellent picture quality from the Vado HD is a definite plus!

  • check out vimeo /1588786

    looks great

  • Argh, again, a camera with an image stabilizer.

  • Are you talking about the Vado HD? It doesn't have an image stabilizer, but honestly the image quality more than makes up for it. It is a pocket camera, after all.

  • A lack of a stabilizer makes a camera unusable. It's easy to get all carried away and get all happy and excited about what a wonderful resolution it has. But when you play back the video on a tv, the noone in the room will be able to stand the shakiness and jitteryness. And guess what, the manufacturers know this. They could easily add at least a digital stabilizer, but they don't, because they release things in small increments.

However, search youtube for "deshaker" - THAT could make up for it

  • You don't think that saying the lack of a stabilizer makes a camera "unusable" is too broad of a statement? I'm not making an indie film here, just decent quality clips of stuff I want to shoot.

I guess it's also a little broad to say that the quality more than makes up for the stabilizer issue, but I've seen a good amount of high and low end pocket cams, and the Vado HD is definitely the most forgiving that I've seen.

  • Put any footage you make on a television ask other people what they think. Yes, there is sharpness, but quickly it becomes apparent that the jittery shakiness is unbearable.

Amateur quality or not, it just is not watchable.

Vado has not stabilizer, not even an electronic one. It's just not an option.

It's a fatal mistake for the manufacturer to *purposely* leave it out.

They could have easily added the electronic stabilizer but they chose not to.

They want you to buy another one later.

  • Two questions:

Do you recommend waiting for the next-gen to come out with electronic stabilizer? I'm guessing about 1 year before they come out with it. I notice all three Kodak,Mino, and Vado have left it out.

The shots I've seen taken from tripod with the "HD" cameras look amazing, do you have a preference for those who don't want to wait?

  • contrary to a1mint's thoughts on the matter, I still think that the video looks very nice, even without the stabilizer. He says that it's been left out on purpose, but didn't really address the issue if the inclusion of a stabilizer would affect the price, possible frame rate, or quality of the video taken.

I've only seen a few clips of the Kodak and Mino, but from what I have seen, I like the Vado's video quality best. It's a very capable pocket cam, don't let the stabilizer issue scare you.

  • Thanks for the response, I think also that a proper image stabilizer would add to the size of the camera, and as you mentioned cost. I want one but I'm having a difficult time choosing. Vado seems least shakey when moved, followed by the Zi6 and then Mino.

  • As for size - not the digital version of optimizers - they take zero amount of space - AND can do a decent job. An optical stabilizer is another story, that would require extra space - I think you're right there.

Each of these cameras without any IS shake just as much; I can't see how they can differ.

But end of day - perhaps there IS a decent option. Stabilizing after the fact! Look up "deshaker" on youtube. If lines up all the frames on your computer. Vado or better yet the Zi6 (60fps) ok.

  • I think that image stabilizers is an off-the-shelf ready to include technology for manufacturers. I might cost a small amount to include, but not very much at all, if it's just the computer code with a small amount of extra circuitry.

  • I would not play along with how some manufacturers want to trickle down and always provide the smallest increment, just enough for you to buy - and then later lure you into buying a better one.

I convinced that these $150+ HD cameras without stabilizers are NOT quite such a good value. Check out some of the normal digital cameras that have 720p recording.

The Kodak Z1085-IS for instance. You get optical zoom and optical stabilization even!

  • It's funny you mention it, I was looking at that same camera just last night thinking it might be a great alternative! I want to make videos of the outdoors where I live, the desert and river. I'm never going to carry a camera full time the way I do my cell. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Since we're both (three of us?) are looking for a decent way to record HD video with at least *some* quality - at the best value dollar wise as possible, why don't we figure things out together, and see what we can find?

I've looking at the Kodak Z1085-IS (IS! so, not Z1285 because it has no IS), Lumix TZ5 (expensive, but 10x zoom), and S2000HD (15x zoom, IS, $300 give or take).

However, none of that do 60fps. The Zi6 does, and makes it a lot smoother.

    Oh, the Aiptek's are *amazing*!!!

  • You *have* to see this one:

    watch?v=Hi0Se8Hz_ys&fmt=22

    I think that's a sub $200 camera, 60fps 720p, 30fps 1080p, zoom even (?).

I'm so disappointed that Aiptek is not available in Canada. In the US, I think Walmart sells them even.

  • I really like what I am seeing from the Kodak Z1085-IS ! The panning at full zoom looks great, and no seizure inducing camera shake. I checked out the deshaker and it makes too many anomalies in the picture for my taste. I haven't been impressed with the Aiptek videos I've seen so far. I'm really liking the Kodak a lot! I agree let's work together on this project. I do wonder about the battery pack though.

  • Deshaker is useful, as long as the shutter speed of the individual frames weren't too long, and there wasn't too much shaking.

Some of the videos deshaker demos I've seen on Youtube were just about perfect! Someone chose to purposely show artifacts - perhaps you're referring to that one?

That link I gave you, was an Aiptek video - you have to admit, it's just about the BEST quality HD video on youtube, period... from any sub $200 camera anyway!

Also check out the Lumix FZ28

  • youtube doesn't do the aiptek justice, on vimeo it looks much better. Aiptek offers a 1080p WITH stabilizer through walgreens for about $207 with shipping. I've found the Kodak 1085IS for $150 with shipping. Thing I want to ask, 1080 is great but then do I have to process all the video to 720 just to post online?

  • Nevermind, the stabilizer doesn't look like it works at all from the videos I'm watching. I'm back to the kodak again.

  • I ordered the vado HD in Japan but I didn't get it. I have to wait for a few days.

  • Hey cool! You got the Vado HD in... I love the mountains in the background. Where do you work? What are your thoughts on the camera? When do you leave for Japan? ;-)

  • Yeah, I'm really liking the Vado HD so far. This was shot in American Fork in Utah. It's a really pretty place, as far as nature goes.

I'm leaving for Japan next week and will be back on New Year's Day.

  • The more I see footage from the Vado HD, the more I think it's better than the Flip mino HD and the Kodak zi6 combined.

  • Sorry, YouTube is being weird with the comments... this is a test.

  • excellent quality wow ...where u get it from and how much?
