I ALWAYS liked it when Hugh Harris would do the countdown from the Launch Control Room at the Kennedy Space Center, I wonder why he stopped doing the countdowns though? I hope NASA will let Hugh do the countdown for the final Space Shuttle Missison, and maybe they could let Gene Kranz be the honorary Flight Director for the final Space Shuttle Mission, that would be a neat idea as well.
Yes, it was after this flight David Walker got grounded for missing the Pan Am jet by 100ft as you mentioned in the STS-53 clip--the incident involved him in a T-38 over Wash. DC.
Hugh Harri's last launch : ( And Billie Deason's first ascent. This one had some unique sounds though..never heard a main engine start sound quite like that and some noisy SRBs in the first minute too.

Dieses ist eine große Raketenführung. Am 1:00 klingt es wie ratternde Zinnfolie...

Davide walker died in 2001 of cancer. He was a great astronaut despite his hot dog flying incident.

I used to have this on VHS long ago, also from NASA-TV. Frank Culbertson is the CapCom. Billie Deason is providing the launch commentary.
