  • who scared you 00:00

  • This song is so good. The body's temptation for excitement replaced by the sound of the song, making it lead on.

  • this is also on the compilation album "weird scenes inside the gold mine"

  • I also think the word room works better poetically...

  • Thank God for compil cds otherwise I would never hear this incredible song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song with great sound! Thanks for posting this!

  • @TheScrappyCat You're very welcome :) It is indeed a great song.

  • This is the BEST doors song. Not just a good one. Listen to the lyrics.

  • EXPRESSION IN ITS PUREST FORM. . . Point! Blank! Period.

  • One of the greatest bands OF ALL TIME,from the first few notes almost every song they did would grab and hold you ,there were no throw away songs on their albums!

  • Anyone know why they cut out the 'bed is so cold' bit in the final mix? just seems like an un-morrison thing to be doing, cutting out lyrics like that...

  • @Aoroszvari

Maybe Jim decided to change it to "room"; lyrically it expands the reality beyond just sexuality and into a deeper sense of loneliness.

  • happy bday jimbo...drinks on me tonight...

  • oh yes robby sexyyy...! :D

  • johns drumming is slick, robbys guitar is eerie, rays grooves all the way, and jim leads the song with his peotic style. The Doors are awesome

  • Not one of Jimbo's finest efforts. Ray and Robbie shine, as usual.

  • @namhie94 you kiddin me? maybe he was drunk but he sounds great if you ask me!

  • I'm glad that I came <3

  • yea ! this must be a good day. last time i listen to this song was in the beginning of the 90ties. it was in our free (sub-)culture centre. the gouverment blew the whole building overnight - and in there was my sound system and an old doors cassette that somebody brought and left...the last decades i tried to find out on which album it is and the name of the song - nothing. sometimes i thought it was a dream... the search is over.. and the dream.

i read it.. good to be not alone with this song

  • @beminomusic

    Cool story...

  • @beminomusic The only cassette tape this could have been found on was the now out of print "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine", short of someone making a dub of the B-side of "Wishful Sinful" 45.

  • I was talking to this kid who I have chemistry with and he says, "I don't like the Doors, I don't get them. And I hate that fucking synthesizer solo."

I then gave him a small rant about the introspective meaning of the lyrics and how they've impacted my life. Not to mention the fact that Ray is the reason I took up piano. I just can't be friends with people who think of music as pretty noise instead of emotion, art, and philosophy expressed in many ways.

  • my favourite song by the doors.

  • The doors were one! One body just trying to help people break on through, see things for the first time. Morrison deff lead the way but the band would be nothing without Ray, Robby, and John. Jim even said so himself he hated when people announced the band as "Jim and the Doors" they're the Doors..one group one body

  • @KrazyKen44

    Amen to that.

  • @KrazyKen44 Well said and succinct.

  • Aldous Huxley + Jim Robbie John and Jay taking a run with a book = The Door of perception being ripped off its hinges. Also, Pink Floyd is classified under a different genre of music mate, compare the two and you'll see what i mean. The Doors do what The Doors do, Pink Floyd does what Pink Floyd does. Both make your serotonin deplete out of your ears, both are fantastic, don't try to compare great music to great music. It just doesn't get anywhere except to overthinking.

  • sweeet i love bobbys hairrrr

  • greatest band to play on this planet...

  • Ah this version is different to the one i have on the doors boxset. I hate when you have every album from a band and then they decide to release new and improved versions.. Damn it

  • the doors are the best better then all the restt .

  • I just love it when I'm talking to someone about music and I mention the Doors. Nine times out of ten they blurt out "Oh yeah! I love Jim Morrison!!" That band wasn't all about Jim. A lot of people act like he was the only one with talent.

  • @whiteclaudia9

Right on! The Doors are quite underrated as a band...

  • @whiteclaudia9 ever listen to the album without Jim??? It fucken sucked. The Doors aint the doors without Jim

  • @K0MBATICUS The Doors would not be complete if they were missing one member. Each member contributed something special that completed the band and made it unique.

  • @whiteclaudia9 Exactly. I think Jim was a genius. However, Ray, Robbie and John have to be the most underrated musicians. The four of them together was indeed magical.

  • This song is sexy

  • Who scared you?

  • I have soft parade on vinyl wish this song was on there

  • qur rola tan cabrona, es de lo mejor y ellos son la mejor banda del mundo

  • @celebrant9 - I love your P.S. note under the song!! Go you!! I agree 100% The Doors are simply magnificent and the soundtrack to my life. Thank you for posting this song..I love it :)

  • @LaRazor123

    You're welcome:)

The Doors are the soundtrack to my life as well!!!!

  • @celebrant9 why cant everyone be the same :)

  • Man i like ur coment in the description... Have opend the door of perception for all of us. They that dnt wn enter simply Fuck Offf... Hahahah

  • esta es una de las canciones que más me gusta de ellos, son mi banda favorita, Morrison es mi poeta favorito...

  • I have always wondered why this song never made it into the soft parade? Maybe cause it's just too good ...

  • People shouldn't forget that The Doors weren't just about Jim Morrison... What about Ray, John and Robby?

I love Doors and I always will.

And now if you excuse me I'm gonna dance slowly across my room, beacuse I can't help myself, I adore this song so much..

  • @Ester789 jim was one of a kind. there will never be another like him.the band was vital. but jim could have made it without them. peace

  • @urmydarkstar Of course, that's without a doubt. I was just trying to say that Ray, John and Robby are also unique and even though they're not as genuis as Jim was they definitely deserve a huge admiration. Even if it should because of keeping Jim alive...

  • @Ester789 oh yeah. i agree with you on that . the boys do keep the spirit of jim alive. especially ray. he is olso still very well compensated. more so then the others

  • @urmydarkstar

Jim could have made it without them but these three music GENIUSES were the reason he was able to unleash his talent to the world. All four of them equally created the magic that is the Doors.

  • the doors well atleast james said that he does blues and not all their songs ar eclose to blues

  • Jim Morrison made a new world <3

  • @monadasmoinas

So fuckin'true. The Doors created a unique place of solace for which I'm forever grateful.

  • @celebrant9 The Doors is our safe and magic island in the sea of mediocrity that modern music vomits everyday on our minds.........Rock is dead!!! The Doors is alive!!!!!!!!

  • jim morrison showed the world not the true him but what they needed him to be the doors are the beat band but like all others they sold out

  • @losernutty

Morrison bared his soul to the world, every single side of him is in his lyrics- the angry, the tender, the lover, the jerk, the visionary, everything. He lived "κατὰ τὸν δαίμονα ἑαυτοῦ" and that's something that society never accepts.

What do you mean the Doors "sold out"? I don't think they lived (as a band that is) enough time to sell out! Listen to "LA Woman", their last LP. If that's what a band sounds when it sells out then we need more of these sellouts!

  • @losernutty Please elaborate. How did they sell out?

  • wow ive never heard this... i guess i dont have the 40th edition cd with bonus tracks :(

  • @1chamberlain1 well spoken...well spoken

  • Personally I think the Beatles are original in their own way but I think if you compare the message the artists want to bring across; the Doors have a more deep and intense meaning to their songs.

  • Hi,

    the beatles are the beatles.

The greatest emotional impact on me have the doors.

For me Jim is the greatest singer ever.

  • plz people stop arguing about what song of the doors is the best... When I listen to any of their songs im like this is the best than when play another than that one is the best... You dont have to decide which one is the best, they are all THE BEST!!!

  • Don't be comparing the Beatles and the Doors, they are both very different bands and are both fucking incredible.

  • @1chamberlain1 exactly.

  • One of the sexiest songs ever written.

  • stoned sex with my gf and this song ... epic win

  • "Thank you very much gentlemen"

  • Some insightful, if not awesome, comments by the likes of xxBlindxx12, PhilosophicalViking and seedofvision. Yes, there are some who love the Doors like no other band can be loved --- that is my belief, too. Some can rightfully argue the Beatles were the greates band ever on many criteria and not be wrong. Others as these folks and myself might respond "Dear God thank you for Jim Morrison and the Doors, the words, the incomparable beautiful mysterious music, and the one and only voice."

  • @brisbane44

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the Beatles are way overrated.

Eh, I guess in art it all boils down to personal taste and the Doors are by far better imho.

  • @celebrant9

Beatles were the first really popular bands and I agree that they are overrated..they can't compeer with Doors..they took what Beatles brought and took it to another level!

  • @celebrant9

I'm with you brother. I think that the Beatles are overrated.

The Doors are just unique, mystic, surreal, poetic and profane(in a positive way).

Jim Morrison is just my favorite artist, he is 'the special one'.

The Doors are just so much better, but don't get me wrong, I think that the Beatles are good, but not that good.

  • @celebrant9 No....I second that motion...

  • @celebrant9 beatles were the very best, period. But....so were the Doors...

  • @brisbane44 And that's just peoples opinions, so quit comparing. You should be thanking god for the Doors, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and every other great band so we aren't stuck listening to all the shitty music.

  • This song give's me the chills like the Shaman's running through me. I love it!

  • Buhuhuhu... pore Densmore... :'(

  • @MultiPticica

    Um....why?

  • load your head, blow it up, feelin good baby!!!!

  • @tony281sc2 yahhhhh.

  • Crazy stuff man. I truly love this version.

Sounds outstanding. Thanks for sharing with us!

  • Loving it man, thanks for the great upload. Good clip, good song!

  • Count Chocula scared me!

  • @RockCleric420

    Lol!

  • best song ever. my fav of all songs by the doors or anyone else.

  • Great tune...also to be found on Weird Scenes inside the Goldmine

  • The Doors Epic

  • didn't know that this was a bonus on the Soft Parade (not on my lp!)...but always been one of my faves since hearing it on the Wierd Scenes Inside The Goldmine LP...nice its not edited...I hate when they remove the line...my room is so cold... :)

  • @hendrixnut64 Yeah, must be included on one of the newer CDs. It was never on any of the early CDs (I bought The Door's CDs as soon as they became available in the '80s). I first heard this on Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine too, on LP.

  • Well my room is so cold, you know you don't have to go

  • never heard this...thanx for the post

  • HI! THIS IS MONTGOMERY SHRAPP! HAVE A LOOK ON OUR SONG "JIM" (DEDICATED TO JIM MORRISON&THE DOORS)!

  • one of my favorite doors songs. kreiger the most under rated guitarist to ever live.

  • It´s not about The Doors it´s about this legendary poet once called The Lizard King.

  • it's a fucking awesome song, top five definitely!

  • Simply put the DOORS are the most unique band ever to put music to paper. What they created was a sound that was and is incomparable. The persona, aura and poetry of Jim and the under-rated musical talents of Ray, John and Robbie are something that bands of today have no idea of how to recreate. Reviews aside, I totally enjoy the music, lyrics and feeling of the music. Nothing will ever come close to the perfection of the DOORS.

  • @PhilosophicalViking Right on man, your so right.

  • @PhilosophicalViking I'm sorry, but isn't that a little extreme? What about Pink Floyd. I feel they do what The Doors do, but better. And don't pick a fight with me, I love the Doors too.

  • Do you hear Densmore's playing here?! You talk about being in the pocket--he owned the whole pair of pants here! Why this song didn't make it onto Soft Parade I'll never understand...since it's a masterpiece of the pop/art-song form. The lyrics are a gorgeous symbolist love story of sex and terror, the arrangement is near perfect and the performances, well, just listen, you hear the rider coming down the road, glistening jewels in his sack

  • @seedofvision

    Right on!

    John's an insanely underrated drummer...

  • @seedofvision

this song would have outclassed most of everything from Parade

  • @seedofvision yes--it SHOULD'VE been on Soft Parade--who knows why it wasn't

  • @seedofvision agree 100%

  • @seedofvision So perfectly said.

  • @seedofvision you said it!!!

  • @seedofvision Yes, this song was wrongfully witheld from Soft parade--it is so superior to other songs on the albu, that made the final cut.

  • amazing song how come this was never released

  • I LOOOOOOVE THIS!!

  • awesome band, awesome song

  • This song is awesome. One of their most unique.

  • Runnin Blue and Do it are great songs. To say they shouldnt have been on an album is just stupid, there The Doors, any sound they make sounds great. I wasn't expecting Robby to sing when I first heard Runnin Blue, but the song is just as great as the rest.

  • @Aic1944

    Whoa,hold your horses there.

Just because "they are the Doors",it doesn't mean that they are some kind of holy cow that we are not allowed to judge.

There's nothing stupid in pointing the obvious; "Who scared you","Build me a woman","Universal mind","Someday soon" are wayyyy better songs than "Do it" and "Running blue" and deserved a proper release.Unless you believe that "Do it" is equal to these songs (music and lyrics wise).

  • @celebrant9 Of course anyone can judge them as they please, thats fine theres nothing wrong with that. I thought it was stupid to say they shouldn't have been on the album or released, when in my opinion I love every single Doors song, I think each deserved their place. Im sure im not the only one. Do It is the only song that isn't as great as every other song. Runnin Blue is such a good song, except Robby's Folk Rock sound throws fans off.

  • @celebrant9 I just don't think that should stand infront of the song itself as a whole, because the song, like all The Doors song's, is just amazing. Anyways, The Door's aren't holy by any means, their just one of my favorite bands, if not the favorite.

  • @celebrant9 I don't know why they didn't release them, and released the others instead. All I do know is im glad we have them now to listen to.

  • @Aic1944 "All I do know is im glad we have them now to listen to."

"The Door's aren't holy by any means, their just one of my favorite bands, if not the favorite. "

    Agreed,mate.

  • @celebrant9 helllll yyyeeeeaaaahhhh celebrant way to represent man. that guy has no shit in what hes talkin about. every single doors album is the best. they are so good that they are all equal in value of greatness. literally every day such as now i listen to all of their studio albums, and a lil live

  • @xXBlinDXx12

    I'm kinda confused here...What guy?

I also listen to the Doors every single day, I can't live without this music;)

  • @celebrant9 Aic1944, he was sayin that runin blue and do it were not very good songs he was sayin a bunch of stuff and you showed him up and explained why every song is great or sumthin like that. it used to below but its gone now. idk where it went.

  • @celebrant9 ...every day... yes...

  • @xXBlinDXx12 the guy named Aic1944 below

  • yeh iggy do it should,nt be one any album, and as for running blue i cant believe they released it as a single, like i,ve said before if who scared you and universal mind,some-day soon and may-be gloria were put on the album ,it would have been a classic, cause all the other songs are really good.

  • you-know if the doors would have put some-day soon and universal and gloria on the soft parade it would have been a classic album

  • i listened that song and it's so cool

  • your both right do it and running blue should never be on any album and also why was,nt someday soon on an album or universal mind.

  • @jimmorrison752

Oh man, these are two of the BEST Doors' songs for me!I'm talking about "Someday soon" and "Universal mind".They are brilliant.

"I'm the freedom man that's how lucky I am"

  • @jimmorrison752 But Robby Krieger's singing is just too awesome to pass up!

  • @iggypoprhcp

Lol, I swear he sounds just like Bob Dylan!

I actually like "Runnin' blue",it's not a "good" song for Doors' standards but it's enjoyable (unlike "Do it).

    "Aaaalright,look at my shoes...."

  • great song

  • who scared you ur momna father wat ever this song is the shit wen u look in the mirror and realized ur sum one else you scared ur self

  • never really liked the doors but cool song

  • Love It!! <3

  • my favorite song by the Doors<3

iCould listen to this song for hours and still not want to change it :)

these lyrics are thee best ive ever heard.

  • Why do the best songs never make it on the album? This should've replaced Do It.

  • @iggypoprhcp

In my humble opinion, "Do it" is the only song that the Doors should NEVER have recorded.Honestly,I adore every single song by them except for this one.

  • @iggypoprhcp pff do it es muy buen tema! pasa que no le captaste el mambo me parecio re moderno que hayan echo eso los doors para la epoca : /

  • @Apemaniaco No comprendo, mi amigo. Hablas en ingles, por favor.

  • awesome

  • which album is this ?

  • great tune!

  • This was on the flip-side of "Wishful Sinful" 45 rpm single. Didn't make it on the album "The Soft Parade" but was released in 1972 on a double greatest hits album called "Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine"

  • One of Jims best. You can hear his passion in his voice.

I cant get enough of this song.

  • Who knows?

  • I wonder why they left this off of the original Soft Parade album.

  • Awesome song to say the least, why isn't music made like this anymore?

  • one of my favs ever!

  • these songs are fun

  • love it sooooosososososooososososososososososososososososoooooooosooooososoooosoooo much!!

    :):):):):):

  • nice change in style. the guitar also got a chance to shine

  • The spider doesn't scare me.... only creepy lonely people on the metro that stare at one like the dull look of a trapped animal... centuries will come and go, but people will have fear and not .....bring us back to the tmes of lessened dispair, euro bs, trash,,, bags, under the eyes, pushing me..... no more..

  • march 6, 2010 --- Who scared you Why were you born, my babe. In two-time's arms With all of your charms, my love. Why were you born Just to play with me, To freak out Or to be beautiful, my dear? Load

  • this band is so diverse for the time; this song is relevant even today!!! god bless the doors!!!!!!!!

  • Load your head, blow it up, feeling good, baby

Load your head, blow it up, feeling good, baby, ahh.

  • I love the first video picture...hahaha they all look so awkward

  • im gonna love you tonite my love

  • Back in the vinyl days, you could only find this song (and "You need meat") on "Weird scenes inside the goldmine".

  • cool never heard this before , waiting for the theatre in london , i found the gravestone marking a policeman whose name was jim morrison , murdered outside the israli embassey in the seventies or eighties , near the old vic

  • You don't say...

    Irony;Jim of the Doors hated policemen's guts,LOL

  • people are strange

  • de la ptmdr would mean de la putain de merde wich mean it sucks hard

  • this song i gave to my ex girlfriend!!!!!!(SHIT)

  • This is one of those obscure songs that only a true fan of The Doors listens to. Not like some of the cellophane idiots you get on here.

  • I don't think you can be an idiot,PhilosophicalViking,if you like the Doors,no matter which song.I don't think it makes you any more clever than you already are either, but their music surely helps expand your mind.

  • This song is awesome.

  • one of my favourites...

  • great song!

  • jim morrison de la ptmdr! (L) Love you jim!!!! <3
