you must be mad!! the R8 has a 4.2 V8, the Exige has a tiny 1.8!! Maybe if the track was very small and tight the Exige may have a chance, but on any real circuit the R8 would totally destroy the Lotus.

The R8 has a lot more weight to it. It needs a bigger engine to haul ass. On an average track in the UK/Europe the Supercharged Exige (220/240/260) would run four rings round the audi.

Google Top Gear lap times to see a list of cars times round Dunsfold. Audi R8 on a damp track 1:24.40, the Exige S 1:25.1 on a dry track. And thats not the V10 Audi either, its the one i mentioned above. On a dry track the R8 would have made an even bigger gap in lap times. The Exige is an amazing car for sure, but its no competition against an R8.

However the Exige S shown was the standard 220 variant I would like to see the Top Gear Team feature the 240 or the cup 260 which is a more powerful and lighter Exige.
