It could be leathal but it would have to pass acrossed your heart, most that dies from electric ( lightning aside) get nailed from being part of the wire , not touching the hot , say you have a big motor running and go and cut just one of the line then take a wire in each hand, the motor will try and pull the current acrossed your body and it will shock you 10 times worse than just touching a hot line with one hand. I promise you dont need to test this , ask anyone who works with house current.

yeah i laughed hard watching you get zapped.
high frequency wont kill you.
those flybacks from the plasma balls will jump sparks around like crazy.
why dont you switch the low voltage side of the input rather than trying to switch the HV side?
use a microswitch on your cam.
plenty micro swithces in old microwaves around the door.
