  • If yours turns into wet sugar means you've not cooked it enough and there's still alot of water in that solution. You've gotta boil it longer. To test if it's ready take a dollop of that liquid and put it on a cool surface and see how long it takes to cool and harden. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes. I made this once thinking it was some frosting recipe and i threw mine away... aww shucks

  • Looks like fun. I would just add a MAJOR CAUTION about waiting until the poured molten lava sugar in the dish cools down before touching it with your fingers, otherwise, you'll have some serious blisters goin on. I wanna try it. Thanks!

  • @debbie77debbie Heh yea... if you cook it for too long you may have to stretch it for a really long time to keep it from turning hard again. if you cook it just right you may only need about 15-20 min :D it would be quite difficult to do that tho.

  • @trisha123bansel Just let it cool off. and use a baking sheet on the plate it makes it soooo much easier. but you could also wear gloves if you ABSOLUTLY had to.

  • 15-20 mins is way too long. if it goes above 115 celsius it will be hard. 115 is the temp for english toffee

  • @RayBeWild Taffy is simply sugar melted and then stretched. if you used less sugar it would simply make less Taffy. If you looking for a treat that has less sugar I suggest you get a piece of Celery.

  • @hellohello227 you did not let it cook long enough or you had too much water. You have to boil the mixture unture it is ready to gel similar to jelly making.

  • @Frarped uhhm if ou want it to get hard cook it for slightly longer till the sugar turns a bright yellow. you might want to try different ammounts to see what color works best.

  • Ive tried making this 4 times. Failed every single time cause the taffy kept sticking to my hands even with butter. But it tasted really good with mint extract :P

  • @cutie9325 If you wanted to you can addit right before you pour it on the plate to set. orrrrrrrr, add it into the water before you boil it. try a few different things. see how they go. LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOS ADND WHAT YOU DID.

  • Why did you add the comment that sugar has no boiling point? it "degrades" before... Not true at all. Sugar has a fixed boiling point between 230-235 degrees. it doesnt degrade. its soluble, theres no degradation in it. adding sugar and other impurities to the water raises waters boiling point due to the colligative properties of solutions. Please research before you make claims like that. I can happily show you links to where it shows the boiling point of it.sugar.

    Use vinyl gloves to keep things a bit more sanitary

    dogs and taffy don't mix (dog on the taffy, taffy on the dog!)!

  • im so making this tmrw, but the sticky mess will piss me off... wait to clean theleft over taffy peices on the bowl you should microwave the bowl let it turn back into a liquid and then use hot hot water to get the shit off instead of using cold water wich would solidify it again

  • @MrMuscleman66 Im sory i couldnt get to you sooner but if it sticks to your hands that probbably your butter was glue, or you didnt boil it long enough. please try it again and check the directions, if you heat it up you can burn it and / or melt it into a slimy liquid, i tried it. but again just go over the directions and tho you may need to cook it longer avoid burning it, it will turn into a rock before you can kneed it.   • This was fun to make with my little cousin and we added nutella in the end (nothing is tastier than nutella) but the first time I tried to make it the taffy turn solid after pulling. This time I pulled it less and wrapped it in foil (there was no more wax paper) right away. I hope it doesn't solidify again...
