  • best song from them ever!!! I like so much that band, man i wish they could come to canada one day!!! they have everything the be the freaking best band in the melodic ans symphonic!!! thats my opinion!!!

  • @Fo0ck I agree with you completly. This band is amazing. I love the vocal range. One of the few bands who can do a (NAME DROP!) Cradle Of Filth sorta vocal range, and make it sound entirely audible! Much better than CoF. This band is just so amazing. I really love they way they incorporate the keyboards to, theyve basicly replaced any need for a lead guitar, and surprisingly enough, its great!

  • My ears vomited from all the awsomeness flowing in. \m/

  • wow i would love to have that wall where can i find it?

  • the clean vocals are godly

  • haha i wasn't saying Cradle are bad, i was saying that Ilnath are better.

  • Good cause Im a pissy cof fan with psm k?

  • this is fucking awesome illnath is true black metal.

  • Behemot, mayhem, marduk , and others more bands are the fucking TRUE FUCKING BLACK METAL MAN! . XD

  • hey do you think you could message me a list of good artists 0_O

  • whats that word mean?

  • It is a place simillar to Heaven, or the world of afterlife.

  • don't be silly! they're better than what cradle of filth have been producing in the last few years but on the whole its cradles soundnd. Dani's vocal range is just too good compared to this guys but don't get me wrong illnath are decent!

  • Much better than CoF ..

  • This band is so awesome! Anybody know any bands similar in style to this?

  • They sound a bit like Cradle of Filth to me. Though, I don't think they're similar enough to be comparable.

  • yES i DO. YOu need to listen to the song "the departure" by Abigail Williams and also for the vocals like this listen to "Amongst the Vultures" by Agathodaimon and the rest of their songs. I also got into a band called "Disarmonia Mundi " after Illnath and they kick ass. Listen to " Taste of collapse" and "last breed" by them. They got nice high pitched screams and melody.

  • dude, that band is the shit... mind tricks is my favorite album to work out to. fragments is awesome too but some might think it's a little too abstract. scar symmetry is another band to check out if you're not already into them.

  • Yeah, I know of scar symmetry I'll check it out more later though since my i-touch is too full to even get cover art..lame

  • that drawing is fucking sic

  • fucking great song :)

  • Nobody cares what you got say about your dumbass nigger music.

  • I'm white asshole. That's why this shit is embarrassing. At least when niggers rap about killing each other and slingin' drugs

I can understand what they say. This makes good metal look bad.

  • Another example of someone who places vocals, poor lyrics or good, over music.

I don't care about understandability, I take more meaning from the music then from the words. Music can mean different things to different people. But lyrics are blatant, telling you what the song means, with no thought involved on your part.

BTW, at least white people don't make songs about how long their chains are, what they wear or the rims on their car.

  • " I don't care about understandability"

Well, I guess this type of shit works for you. You just ignore that guy yelling like he's choking on a ham sandwich and the dude impersonating a clogged drain since you don't care what dumb shit he's saying. Doesn't that mean it shouldn't matter what rappers say also if it means nothing to you?

  • (1)

I have to split this into multiple posts, sorry.

Lyrics and understandability are two different things. I care about the lyrics and the emotion the vocals bring to the piece in question. The lyrics are, at times, meant to be dissonant.

    A parallel:

    Acoustic guitar-Clean vocals

    Distorted guitar-Harsh vocals

When you listen to the Metal you like do you say things like "This shit is embarassing. I can't clearly distinguish the notes. At 1:05 was that a G# or an A."

  • (2)

Metal focuses of the instruments, and typically has talented musicians, advanced composition, and good lyrics. The wide range of vocal styles, from clean to scream to growl is what people point out as the reason metal is terrible, conveniently ignoring all of its strong points.

  • (3)

Rap focuses on the lyrics, and typically has a lyricist, and another guy who uses a program to create a track. Lyrics, for the most part, are one-dimensional and have a simple rhyme scheme and meter (I said "for the most part" because there are rare exceptions). The track is usually only a simple rhythm pattern, occasionally accompanied by a background melody that is, at best, compositionally equivalent to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star".

  • (4)

Point being, Metal is good at what it is meant to be good at, instrumentals and composition. Rap has a hard time looking even mediocre at what it is meant to be good at. The main focus is lyrics, and usually it is superficial, nonsensical, or just plain retarded.

  • (5)

    A side note:

Metal has deep roots in Classical Music, and is the modern day's answer to:

Composers like the three B's, Vivaldi, Telemann, Mozart, Haydn, Salieri, etc.

Rap has deep roots in tribal music, and is the modern day's answer to:

The last indiginous peoples to bang a hollow log with some sticks while the other tribesmen chanted and jumped around a fire.

  • dude i know you're trying to defend metal but that last comment was a little bit racist to say the least lol :/

  • beautifully eloquated....if i could rate comments yours just got a five

  • you just owned the dude like he's never been owned before, rock on!

  • bravo man i haven't seen an overall ownage like that since thunderf00ts why do people laugh at creationists series!!! lol good work

  • Your comments made my day, and we really do have the same opinion about music, that's for sure. I'm having a hard time calling "rap" music actually, since I can't find out whats musical about it. And rap music/pop music and so forth probably consists of 90% ghostwriters, i.e people who are paid to write the songs whilst the artist just perform them and is credited for them.

    Nevertheless, Illnath is fucking awesome.

  • @brendanfode so true...

  • @brendanfode LMFAO Isn't THAT the truth!?

  • @brendanfode

Rap was born of turntablism, which was born of the ghetto. Rap is simply speaking over a beat. It started with scratching on records by DJs, then MCs would hype the DJ and say he was the best, and it sort of evolved from there. Rap is good if you listen to things like Grandmaster Flash, when it first started, and artists today like Mr. Lif. The shit they play on commercial radio is shit, just like with any other genre. The "metal" they play on commercial radio can't be called metal

  • @billswood420 yeah you are right, the things they play on the radio and on MTV etc cant be called metal, nor music for that matter...imo

  • @Notebook43 I first heard of this band on the radio....

  • If you don't like this kind of music, then why bother searching and commenting on the video? Retard.

  • Too bad Pantera sucks.

  • indeed

  • It could be defined into symphonic black metal in my opinion, but who cares really? It's the sound we're after, and it kicks ass.

  • simply AMAZING

  • they are fucking greAT ..

    LOVE IT

  • I like, great song!

  • I need THIS PIC !!

    ---help me plz---

  • Symphonic progressive Power/Black Metal, awesome.

  • power metal? u don't know a SHIT about illnath!

  • you shut the fuck up fucking moron, illnath said is the original genre of the music they made, is a combination of all, and by the way, you dont know a SHIT about music, pendejo.

  • you say illnath is powermetal, kiddy?

  • Symphonic Progressive Power/Black Metal, not just power metal fucker, and you can listen to it into the MUSIC i repeat, is a combination of all. and stfu please

  • the kiddy gets angryyy :O

  • kay sweetie.

  • I'd say they have a lot of Power Metal to them. But they also have Progressive, Black, Symphonic, and Death Metal. That is, if you want to put them into genres.

  • if anyone can tell me the name of the female vocal... please do (:

  • It's a he and his name is Narrenschiff.

    Search Wikipedia for Illnath.

  • not the vocal :D I know Narrenschiff quite well We even chat in myspace. I am talking about Lena, who had part time sessions in this album. Like in this song between 1:04 and 1:35

  • You're right, my bad.

Say hi to Narren from JJ next time you chat -- he'll be pleasantly surprised.

  • i like 1:04

  • Cast into hell sfthjd

  • pues a mi me parece que se parece mucho a CoF, en lo personal es de mi agrado

  • Any chance of me getting a link for the wall?? xD

  • Sorry, I dont remember where i found that wall ;/

  • too bad, it's cool :p

  • k chingon!!!

  • The girl singing part reminds me of within temptation

  • This band is sick as hell, favourite black metal band for sure. CoF is 2nd for me but that's because Damnation and a Day is one of my favourite albums ever. I'm not a big fan of their newer stuff but i still listen to their old stuff. But that's just me.

  • Denmark can also make black metal.

    my fucking county

  • anyway, 3:28 - 3:48 is fucking awsome

  • agreed

  • this song sounds sucks on youtube... i have it as a WAV file and it's freaking awsome.

  • I want to buy teh CD but my mom thinks I listen to christian music LOL. Look at my favorites.

  • Sorry, but to say Cradle of Filth sucks is to say the root and creator of Symphonic Black Metal (actually called Gothic Metal) Alike sucks. So wait why don't you like them? It makes no sense.

  • Symphonic black metal was created by Ancient Ceremony...and gothic metal by Lacrimosa...so COF sucks!

  • very good song

  • cof SUXX!

  • 3:40 - 3:47

    I came

  • are you serious........ i guess i gotta goto myspace for once.

  • Cradle of filth sucks !!! Are you kidding?

  • i cant find anywhere to buy there albums, anyone know?

  • Doesn't really sound CoF-ish, but the first few lines sounded like a screaming Dani. Even though there's not more similarity, I love both Illnath and Cradle of Filth.

  • muy buena banda, both of their cds are really good, (my opinion)

    Fucking good vocals

  • their best song, from their only good album. but a FUCKING AWSOME one.

i mean, Cast into the fields of evil pleasure is an amazing album, but all the rest they released - sucks.

and this is the best song in my opinion.

its a shame to listen to it in youtube.

the female vocals are so good in here, the riffs are awsome, all this song is just perfect.

    jus tperefect, no words.

  • i think every Illnath album fucking rules!!

  • \m/

  • Illnath is waaaaay better than CoF.

  • Mate if you're referring to the music then as for taking it serious, I don't take it any more serious than you do your Dragonforce and Metallica songs and all the Rhapsody singing about King Arthur and shoving Excalibur up his arse with his mythical dragon and unicorn friend.

I'd love to know what your point is, especially considering on your profile you take the piss out of Slipknot fans telling them to like real metal but you have shit like Rob Zombie on your favoutires.

  • Rob Zombie did his thing back then. Sure, he was a sellout.. But you can't deny that you liked "More Human Than Human".

The point here is, I'm talking about how the music sounds. Rhapsody may be cheesy, but they make some really nice sounding shit. Now, just listen to the voice in 0:17. Are you gonna tell me that it can be taken seriously? Like I said, it sounds like a midget.

  • I didn't like Rob Zombie back then since I've been into Black and Death metal since as long as I can remember, that's where you fail.

Also yeah cheesy, pathetic singing and melody on most of them. I have power metal on my PC too. I've got about 300GB worth of metal on here. There's nothing wrong with the vocals in Illnath, it sounds like old Cradle, if you don't like the genre then fuck off.

Also dwarves don't like to be called midgets, don't mistake them for mythical Dwarves though you tool.

  • lol seriously, if its a midget singing, that midget is my fucking idol. \m/

  • Lol at lame trolling

    xD

  • cheep copy of cradle of filth

  • u kiddin me, narrenschiff shits on dani

  • Figuratively, of course ... god forbid someone puts a link up here proving me wrong.

  • :'(

  • what's the pic, I mean, what do i have to type on google if I want it to show up

  • sorry dont remember where i found that x/

  • ive heard it and it fucking ROXORZ MY SOXORZ

  • great song btw vocal in harsh like dani filth and in brutal like graveworm !! amazing song !! stay black 666

  • The best song of Illnath ^^

  • Amazing ^^

  • I don't like the vocals that start off the song, too high pitched. But the rest is sick.

  • Well, it reminds me of Cradle Of Filth...

  • this song fucking kicks so much ass,i want it to rape me so that i may concieve its child!!!

  • just fucking awesome... but I like their latest album best...

  • this band is fuking epic y they arnt better known i will never know.

btw where did u find that pic?

  • Great pic, urgently need it as desktop :)

    gieb!

  • Illnath is the fucking best at melodic BM.

    Hails forever to them.

This song is their most epic piece to date, I think.

  • black metal on melodic wings, magnificent
