First of all the east bound bike lane doesn't end at Riverside and Strabane, it takes a left on Strabane and right on Wyandotte and continues east till George. I agree the city needs continuous but why do they need to be on Riverside Drive? The drive is a narrow road in very poor condition, Wyandotte would be a more suitable road with the ability to tie the bike lanes into the existing Ganatchio Trail. The true issue should be bike lanes "not bike lanes on riverside".
The city should have never allowed building on city property. But they did, allowed and ignored it for years. So whose fault is it? Once you let that happen taking it back decades later is extremely difficult. Its like knocking on your 1985 college roomates door today and asking for your walkman back.
I find it hard to beleive all the people who built on "city" property did so without permits.
yes, but on a road that is so hazardous to ride your bike, I think you could employ some common sense in order to not risk your life. No police officer will give you a ticket for being safe :-)
Yes, We shoudl have bike lanes on The Drive. But until we do, I'll be riding that sidewalk - not the pot-hole ridden street with cars zooming past. I value my life.
Thank you, 'scaledown', and may I return your compliment. You are keeping an active, honest eye on bylaw infractions that do need attention. As far as the Riverside Drive sidewalk snow removal goes, I have often wondered why home-owners along the 'Drive' never got together and paid a small annual fee to have someone in the private sector run a snowblower up and down both sides of that road whenever it snows. I guess it would take the city to suggest such before tickets are issued.
To put it in perspective, imagine your child riding their bike along Riverside Drive and being as close to vehicles travelling 50 - 60km/h as the person in this video.
I ride my bike in the city year-round. Many drivers respect cyclists and I appreciate the majority who do, but it's the inconsiderate ones that make bike riding on the road so dangerous in Windsor.

My only complaint: What's with the sepia tone throughout the video? It serves no useful purpose.

Bikes are vehicles, and by law, aren't supposed to be ridden on sidewalks.
