I would guess that they don't feel pain like we do. I'm a pretty rugged guy but if someone put a hook through my lip or jaw and pulled on it, I'm going to go wherever they lead me. We put a hook through a fish's lip or jaw and they pull the opposite direction with everything they've got. Yes, they probably feel pain but not like we do. I see trout get swallowed whole by birds to be digested alive. This is a normal end for them. We kill them quicker and with less suffering than the birds do.
