Thank you! I only read the English :-) and I wasn't sure about 'Nagai' because it sounds like the word for 'long'! Which are the Nagai district's patterns?
@susansashiko > the Nagai district's patterns which I know are 1) >>>>> <<<<< ← horizontal and vertical, I don't know its name 2) hutome-zashi and 3) hutometsunagi-zashi. Chieko Hori copied these patterns from Nagai district to Yuza and Shonai district.
Dear Izumi, can you e mail me some more information from Mrs Arimoto's discussion about the patterns? I watched it twice but there is so much information, it is difficult for me to understand the main points! I'm also really interested about the Nagai patterns - long patterns - which ones are these? Thank you for the video. I made a link from my blog. Susan
I never had a chance to meet Arimoto san, but I always include her name when I'm teaching sashiko, because she taught Chie Ikeda who taught me! Arimoto san's 'asanoha' stitching displayed at the Yurari, where she used colours, helped me understand this complicated design. She is a great teacher.
