  • Early reviews imply this "Cabaret" pulls punches, but today (2/1) it packed a wallop. Romping through Act I it raises goose flesh--with goose steps--in Act II. The design and execution evokes the hedonistic atmosphere, but stunningly human portrayals expose the gut-churning ambivalence of each character. Even the Nazi, Ernst, looks out at us with a flicker of fear and doubt.

Hard to meet expectations for "Cabaret," but New Rep surprised even this seen-it-all-twice theatre goer. Go see it!

  • I have to agree, everything was excellent about this show; the acting, the singing, the dancing, the lighting, the stage set, and even the volunteers were fabulous. John Kuntz was amazing. I am glad that they were able to extend the run of the show to give even more people the opportunity to see the final show under Guy Lombardo at NewRep.
