  • Can anyone give me an idea what these lyrics say in English please?

  • I feel even more irish when i listen to this.It gets to the soul.

  • Tiocfaidh Ar La!

  • I'm a scotsman, e'ry time i listen to liam sing this, i grab my smithwicks, and get into a very anti-english mood. This song has many meanings to us scots, and to our irish brothers and sisters to the south. I see 3 dislikes now, must be the bloody sasonach's ( black and tans)

  • i heard them in chicago in 1962--afterward, i went backstage and they all signed my program...i wanted to go to the bar with them afterward, but my ma wouldn't let me...i was 12 years old...still crazy about irish music...but the clancy brothers are gone...thank goodness for the technology that preserves these performances

  • Glad to see a peoples heritage mattered once.

  • Liams voice is just awesome

  • Lets not forget our culture, lets not forget our language, the onus is on us to preserve it, stop blaming the schools, the state and the teachers.

And let all the people of Europe do the same, but lets not let the the riches of the Union blind us from that fact that our countries have lost more than they gained.

We have stood on these shores and watched many come with swords and later empty promises. From now on we'll harvest what we have sown, be efficient, be noble and Ireland is yours.

  • @thejuice2003 in the words of Monty Python "What have the British (sic) ever done for us?!"

  • @BretWinters Lots of things. But also some pretty horrific things too.

  • THATS what hes singing....

  • May it please the King of Miracles that we might see,

Although we may live for a week once after,

Gráinne Mhaol and a thousand warriors...

    Dispersing the foreigners!

  • Gráinne O'Malley[5] is coming over the sea,

Armed warriors along with her as her guard,

They are Irishmen, not French nor Spanish...

And they will rout the foreigners!

  • Oh-ro You're welcome home,

    Oh-ro You're welcome home,

    Oh-ro You're welcome home...

    Now that summer's coming!

Welcome oh woman who was so afflicted,

It was our ruin that you were in bondage,

Our fine land in the possession of thieves...

And you sold to the foreigners!

  • liam has such a powerful and amazingly convincing voice

  • Young Charles is coming over the sea They will be with him, French and Spanish Armed Volunteers with him as a guard And they'll make the heretics dance!

  • Oh-ro You're welcome home, I'd rather you to a hundred milking cows, Oh-ro You're welcome home... Now that summer's coming! Young Charles, son of King James It's a great distress – your exile from Ireland Without thread of shoe on you, socks or shirt Overthrown by the foreigners Alas that I do not see If I were alive afterwards only for a week Young Charles and one thousand warriors Banishing all the foreigners

  • @Cal4niatropics thats not what hes singing you gombeen

  • For one of the truths about the many lies told about Germany.

    Google:

The Liberation of the Camps: Facts vs. Lies by Theodore J. O' Keefe.

If you want facts that go against all the other lies go to Institute for Historical Review (ihr.org) and click on their archives. Start reading and researching.

Germany has been lied to and lied about. The proof is all there and documented.

  • @LogNaSionna i saw one of your videos ,, keeping it simple , do you not think the holocaust happend, the nazis are famed for keeping books and writing everything down, ive heared many ex ss and camp guards and eye witnesses saying exactly what happend , from mass shootings to gassing to murders and destruction of villages and towns,up close and personal, why would you want to say it never happend ,you sould be transported back ,im sure you,d think differently ,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Do you remember the Birmingham 6? All testimonies were got under torture. Read how they got the testimonies of those at the Nuremburg trials - none of them would be allowed in court today.

Have you read the article I referred to, in my 1st comment?

  • @LogNaSionna ,come on, what have the birmingham 6 have to do with nazi war criminals , theres just to many documents ,to many eye witnesses, from all sides to have not been a holocaust , im not going on about jews , but disabled ,anti nazis, communists, the murder of POWs, the murder of millions of civilians in poland and all over occupied europe, the behaviour of the nazi regime went beyond war , i know to of polish atrocities, of czech atrocities of sudaten germans, and the russian atrocities also

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

If you calm down and think, then the point about the birmingham 6 is obvious, 6 men accused of terrorist activity and murder. All were tortured and confessions made under duress.

That is exactly what happened in the Nurembourg trials. All the German testimonies would today like the B6 case be stricken off.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Documents you say. In fact there is not one document. That is the actual truth. I mean, we are taught to believe that everything is as it should be right? And that due process is done, and that that due process obviously meant our side had the documents and witnesses to prosecute properly right?

Well thats just it, thats what we are told, thats what we accepted blindly. No proper process was conducted

  • @LogNaSionna so its not all anti german sentiment, the atrocities of the japanese also well documented to , of course the holocaust happend , and im no friend of zionist jews , as today they are almost as bad in their actions, was any of the main prisoners tortured, was goering ,, as for the birmingham 6 ,i remember the birmingham 21 ,they may not have commited any crimes ,but were all republicans and were on their way to an ira funeral,

  • @LogNaSionna the kommondant of belsen, was he tortured , think the fact you had 40 thousand dead and buried bodies surrounding belsen was enough to have him hanged , it wasnt just the holocaust but acts like shooting 200 british pows dead on the retreat to dunkirk, by SStotenkopf troops , acts like the oradour in france and lidice it was no secrect that needed acts of torture to know what the likes of heinrich and co were doing, what about the murdere of italian pows by german forces to

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

"the kommondant of belsen" - and just what was in belsen? It is now accepted not one gas chamber was on German soil. And that accepted by Simon Wiesenthal- the Nazi hunter.

The bodies you see in the famous photo of bodies being dumped into a pit, can you tell me, what that is a picture of?

  • @LogNaSionna belsen may not of been an extermination camp like birkenau , but what were thousands of innocent people doing there , most were not even german, that was a crime in itself , they shipped thousands of dutch jews to belsen, including anne frank, a school girl, was she a criminal, no ,why were children sent to camps ,children of other countries , it was mistreatment , malnourishment and desease that killed most at belsen,

  • i never said that there were gas chambers at belsen, the pcture you saw at belsen ,was actually film footage , footage of bulldozers pushing thousands of emaciated bodies into pits , you miss out the accounts of witnesses of certain camp guards who beat people to death to, did ex SS men lie when interviewed years after the war , when they admitted what they witnessed, there is documents ,witnesses and footage of nazi behaviour , youve been brain washed to deny it

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

yet you said "it was mistreatment , malnourishment and desease that killed most at belsen"

So what accounted for the rest? if we go with your account.

"the pcture you saw at belsen ,was actually film footage , footage of bulldozers pushing thousands of emaciated bodies into pits "

could you elaborate on those pictures please, who, what, where and when, thank you.

  • @LogNaSionna ok lets stick to the holocaust then, the footage of bulldozers i saw was from the award winning series world at war, the episode about the holocaust, with interviews of SS guards and high up officers , who had meetings with ,,whats his name, the one israel hung in the early 60s ,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Footage of bulldozers and photos of "gassed" jews.

Yes, so I was asking, do you know of the footage of the bulldozers and all those corpses. What is it showing exactly, I was wondering what you can tell me in your opinion and from what you know about it. Thanks.

  • @LogNaSionna i never said the jews in belsen were gassed , the footage of bulldozers ,are from the episode, genocide , from the world at war series, , i bought it last year, but remember it when it was first shown in the early 70s, you see a british soldier on a bulldozer , pushing mounds of emaciated bodies into pits,, there was extended dvd added to the original series , with eye witness accounts of SS men detailing the gassing and shooting of jews and others, during the war

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

The world at war series. I am tryiny to tell you that there is the history that is allowed. And then there is the real history and truth of what really happened, and that is not allowed to be told.

Mainstream historians, are fired and have their careers destroyed, if they deviate from the script of what is acceptable to say in their books and theses.

  • @LogNaSionna one who gave detailed accounts during the documentry was himmers adjuntant SS Obergruppenfuhrer karl wolff, these interviews were taken in the early 70s , not under duress or interrogation, , in the dvd , it shows footage of mass shootings in eastern europe , and many photos of hangings, and footage of germans gloating and smiling over ther victims bodies

  • i could say the same about thenumbers involved in the irish famine , theres no film footage, no recordings, not a lot really to say so many died , what about the footage you see of a nazi dragging an old jewish woman around by the hair , footage of women and children being forced to strip, before being shot dead and thrown into a ravine , just forget the name of the place, and witnesses of local people who saw these jews killed , you sound like the serbs who denied sebrinica never happend

  • its well documented how the nazis rose to power, how they even turned on themselves, the night of the longknives ,they occupied the rhineland, britain did not want war , and appeased the germans , and let the germans take sudatenland, if that was all they wanted, they ended up taking it all, they attacked poland , useing an excuse that polish were attacking germans , we cracked the german code and knew what they were up to, they invaded poland, they started it

  • yes we declared war on germany ,as france did, but germany invaded holland, luxumbourg, and belgium, unprovoked, they invaded norway who were neutral, the ussr was attacked and they had a treaty with germany, germany declared war on the USA , if germany did not start ww2 , who did

  • as for atrocities on jews and others ,, have you watched that german documentary , the maker uncovered lost recordings of german generals , the recordings were taken by the british of captured german generals , who were held in what was a country mansion, free to move around and associate with each other , the british had bugged the mansion, and recorded everything ,the german generals in these conditions talked openly and freely , many times about the atrocities the germans commited in ww2

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

You are watching to much TV my friend and not doing enough reading of primary sources.

You did say "think the fact you had 40 thousand dead and buried bodies surrounding belsen was enough to have him hanged "

Why? If they did nothing wrong. And if supplies and supply depots in Germany were constantly bombed by the allies. Then the ppl died of typhus and malnutrition not any deliberate attempt to kill them.

  • @LogNaSionna the people in belsen sould not of been there in the first place, a high percentage were not even german, what right had they to take thousands upon thousands of civilians to germany , and put them in camps, their aim , for the jews anyway was to eliminate a whole race

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

More than 9,000 Jews with citizenship papers or passports from Latin American countries, entry visas for Palestine, or other documents making them eligible for emigration, arrived in late 1943 and 1944 from Poland, France, Holland and other parts of Europe. During the final months of the war, several groups of these "exchange Jews" were transported from Axis-occupied Europe.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

German authorities transferred several hundred to neutral Switzerland, and at least one group of 222 Jewish detainees was transferred from Belsen (by way of neutral Turkey) to British-controlled Palestine

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

During the final months of the war, tens of thousands of Jews were evacuated to Belsen from Auschwitz and other eastern camps threatened by the advancing Soviets. Belsen became severely overcrowded as the number of inmates increased from 15,000 in December 1944 to 42,000 at the beginning of March 1945, and more than 50,000 a month later.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish Many of these Jewish prisoners had chosen to be evacuated westwards with their German captors rather than remain in eastern camps to await liberation by Soviet forces.

  • @LogNaSionna so jews who were force marched from eastern camps were volunteers, thats a new one, the germans pulled the fit ones out, to cover up whyat happend, and to use any prisoner as labour ,back in germany, , they sould not of been transported, put in camps, and ghettos ,just because they were jewish in the 1st place , why did they take 200,000 or so jews from holland , transport them east, and only a relative few surviving the war,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

"jews who were force marched from eastern camps were volunteers"

Actually it is not new at all. Like everything else it is buried and the lie gets airtime, that is why you believe what you believe. You are actually believing the war-time stories and propaganda of the victors etc.

Yes it is fact many of the jews from the eastern camps rushed to get to the german camps when they heard the Russians were coming.

If you read more into it, you will discover the truth

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

If we go by your logic, then the british who took over belsen should also be hanged as they presided over 14,000 deaths in belsen. Perhaps they are even more guilty in your book as they had supplies and no bombings of the roads?

Lets go over 1 topic at a time, that way we can be more clear and debate with more clarity, shall we. I will answer all and any queries you care to bring up. Thanks.

What first issue would you like to discuss?

  • @LogNaSionna yes many deaths happend in belsen, after we arrived, look at the state of the prisoners , they were foolishly given solid food , they were killed with kindness, it wasnt until , what was known ,that feeding them was dngerous, that we bought in ,a receipe used in india for famines, a type of gruel, easy to digest , it was after that the death rates slowed down.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Just going to answer the few things you commented on before you talked about the bulldozers, ok.

Although still occasionally referred to as an "extermination camp" or "mass murder" center, the truth about Bergen-Belsen has been quietly acknowledged by scholars. In his 1978 survey of German history, University of Erlangen professor Helmut Diwald wrote of

... The notorious Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where 50,000 inmates were supposedly murdered.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish Actually, about 7,000 inmates died during the period when the camp existed, from 1943 to 1945. Most of them died in the final months of the war as a result of disease and malnutrition -- consequences of the bombings that had completely disrupted normal deliveries of medical supplies and food. The British commander who took control of the camp after the capitulation testified that crimes on a large scale had not taken place at Bergen-Belsen.

  • @LogNaSionna bergen belsen was a crime ,as thepeople in there sould never of been there period, most were foreign or jewish , it was a crime to take them from their countries, to put them in camps like belsen, even when they were given food , it was far less than a normal intake, the germans did not care wether the prisoners lived or died, what about the 2million russian pows who died to.. plus in belsen the accounts of brutality , setting dogs on inmates ,beatings and maltreatment

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

So are you saying now that people were not gassed at Bergen-Belsen?

That is a big change in what you were saying before, that people were gassed and deliberately executed there.

    Could you answer that please.

  • @LogNaSionna ive never ever said people were gassed at belsen, i did say they were gassed at certain death camps in the east, and there were mass shooting of jews ,not in camps, or is every ex SS man ,every eye witness, every local person who eyewitnessed in numerous places atrocities, are all these people telling lies, faking photographs ,faking documents, all the evidence of nazi speeches ,from the 30s to th end of the war , all show that the nazi aim was to eliminate the jews and others

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

A revealing account of the circumstances under which the British took control appeared in a 1945 issue of The Journal of the American Medical Association: (note 21)

By negotiations between British and German officers, British troops took over from the SS and the Wehrmacht the task of guarding the vast concentration camp at Belsen, a few miles northwest of Celle, which contains 60,000 prisoners, many of them political.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish This has been done because typhus is rampant in the camp and it is vital that no prisoners be released until the infection is checked. The advancing British agreed to refrain from bombing or shelling the area of the camp, and the Germans agreed to leave behind an armed guard which would be allowed to return to their own lines a week after the British arrival.

It was typhus which continued to kill long after the handover.

  • @LogNaSionna of course it was mainly typhus that killed people at belsen, but it was the mistreatment of them prisoners that weakend them, belsen was just one camp in the west, they started out in the 30,s as internment camps for political inmates but later during the war many other inmates including jews were put there, as well as extermination camps futher east,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

There was no mistreatment of prisoners. You have come from saying that they deliberately killed prisoners to saying that they died from mistreatment.

So already we have a change from the common image that the world has been told to believe. What else is not true?

For starters, it is fact the authorities did everything possible to prevent typhus and disease, hence the zyklon B disinfectant. Supplies were interrupted during the bombing, that is what led to the conditions

  • @LogNaSionna what are those films then of german soldiers baiting jews on the streets, physically cutting the hair and locks off old jewish men in the street and laughing about it, ,the footage of dragging an old lady down the street by her hair, the footage in riga, i think, it was somewhere in the baltic states , were you can see germans encouraging local people, one man beating a jew with a plank of wood , while many other bodies can be seen laying around ,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

But you still have not answered about the belsen bulldozer and the corpses it is pushing. What is that picture? What, where who and when does it show?

Could you answer that without going into other issues first, thank you.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish i see you're still hanging around republican pages. Talking about having no life.

  • these were german generals , living comfortably ,in a mansion being taped, not tortured , talking about the camps , the atrocities , of others mainly , straight out of the horses mouths ,, theres to much evidence all round about the nazis and crimes,as there was japanese crimes who deny nanking happend to , why would people make up such a story ,

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

What were Japanese doing in American concentration camps? Why did the British invent concemtration camps? So what is the purpose of conc. camps?

Jews were indeed in more influential positions in Europe as a whole, out of proportion to their numbers and just as today where they control world banking and have played havoc with the world finances- they did the exact same in europe and america, read about it.Hitler proposed to expel them to another land of their own.

  • @LogNaSionna brtish concentration camps ,we did not invent them as it has been used by others before us, the purpose was to cut off the boer commandos supplies and support , and it worked , but a disaster as we know , with desease breaking out, its intent , were did not intend to kill anyone , but the died , we did change the conditions but for the ill , it was to late , german camps were totally different

  • @LogNaSionna yes its true jews held high up places in banking and business, but is that a crime, german jews were german, and fought in ww1, most of the jews who died in ww2 ,were poor eastern europeans ,without 2 beans to rub together ,so why were they victimised , i know hitler wanted to send the jews to madagasker, but with us in ww2 , we controlled the atlantic sea lanes, so he came up with the plan to resettle them, elsewhere , who quoted ,the final solution, what was the final solution

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Not one person was gassed at belsen. You suggest they were, the facts show and it is now acknowledged even by nazi-hunters that that is the case. Plz read the links on my site. These are the facts.

  • @LogNaSionna i never said they were gassed in belsen , at all . if there was no holocaust , tell me were all the jews went in europe , there was 11 million according to nazi lists to start with , including the uk and ireland and spain etc,, if few died, and if there wernt many left in eastern europe after the war, were are they, they all didnt go to the US or palastine, what was the purpose of ghettos

  • @LogNaSionna the americans to , days after malmedy massacre , shot captured german pows , and under the geneva convention were supposed to give shelter ,food to pows , the americans herded over 300,000 german pows into a field fit for 30,000, underfed and no shelter , thousands of pows died , you could say a war crime , the fact was germany started it, and 70 million died ,so were as they to had crimes committed on them , were under their policies and acts were guilty

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Actually Germany did not start it, this is all total propaganda by the allies - they won the war, they wanted war, they got to write the history. But this is for another day, there is too much to discuss already

how about we take it 1 topic at a time?

  • @LogNaSionna how did you come to the conclusion that germany did not start ww2 , yes they did , the seeds may have come from the harsh treatment after ww1 ,the loss of territories and conditions put on the germans , but hitler and the nazis all along wanted pay back , reclaim lost territories , they blamed the jews , rearmed , broke treaties by rearming ,built an airforce and tested that air force out in spain,

  • @LogNaSionna i dont believe today in hunting very minor ss guards down, the main people of the nazi regime were hung, others are dead and many only served time in jail , if stalin had had his way ,he would of had all nazi party members and high up military killed , the germans ,especially in the west got off lightly , especially being in the front line against soviet east europe , they were quickly rebuilt with american money as were japan , both recovered more quickly than the uk

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

You are wrong, America loaned britain millions. Britain has only just finished paying America recently.

  • @LogNaSionna most of that that was paid was war debt ,2006they finished

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

Britain actually received more than a third more Marshall Aid than West Germany - $2.7 billion as against $1.7 billion. She in fact pocketed the largest share of any European nation. The truth is that the post-war Labour Government, advised by its resident economic pundits, freely chose not to make industrial modernisation the central theme in her use of Marshall Aid.

  • @LogNaSionna how come we had rationing until 1950, everything we had from america was paid back with intrest ,taking until 2006 to do it, yet america still has uses of strategic uk bases around the world, i wonder do they pay rent, doubt it. ,at least the labour government bought in the national heath service, if we got most money how come even in the 1970s we had bomb clearence sites , america were the only country in the world ever ,who came out of a war in profit , a good part our money

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

As stated:Britain actually received more than a third more Marshall Aid than West Germany - $2.7 billion as against $1.7 billion. She in fact pocketed the largest share of any European nation. The truth is that the post-war Labour Government, advised by its resident economic pundits, freely chose not to make industrial modernisation the central theme in her use of Marshall Aid. This is fact.

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

"yet america still has uses of strategic uk bases around the world, i wonder do they pay rent, doubt it. "

I do not see what that has to do with money that the U.S gave britain or how it disproves it. There are U.S bases in Germany, Italy, Japan (all 3 axis powers) Greenland, Korea, Philippines, Saudi Arabia.

So for Britain it does not prove any less the fact that U.S did give money to Britain.

  • @LogNaSionna the us bases question, my point is , we paid everthing back, debt cleared, 60 odd years after ww2 , the americans still use british territory today , is the ships for the use of bases still in force, or do they pay rent on the use of those bases, strategic bases lke ascension and the mid indian ocean base,, a few ww1 obsolete destroyers for the use of stragegic bases 65 years later seems a bit one sided

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

    @TheMightOfTheEnglish

I already told you, you paid everything back. The point you were making is that Britain got nothing from America, and that Germany got loads, thereby aiding it's recovery.

I already told you that is not the case and now you have had to admit that Britain did get money, more 1/3 more marshall aid than Germany.

I have already said U.S have bases in 3 former axis bases- no idea what point you are continuing with here. It has nothing to do with aid

  • @TheMightOfTheEnglish

The evidence is overwhelmingly against any holocaust, if you were to go back, I am sure you would think differently.

  • Lmao i need to get me a Clancy Brother jumper.

  • love his beautiful laugh at 0:54

  • @sobr21azzaro That would be a smile...not a laugh.

  • Could anyone translate this for me pls?

and does anyone know the song South Australia? parts of it sound like parts of this

  • @nextlifearotti : see Wikipedia ( search for Óró Sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile)

Not only two translations to two different versions... But the history of the song as well!

    Enjoy

    M

  • @Martennl thank you for that...it's always interesting I think to read the history of some of these songs. thanks

  • They are genuine, traditional, hand made, EXPENSIVE, Irish Sweaters from the Isle of Arran (small island off the west coast, about 30 minutes boat ride from Galway Bay).

I have been told they do keep you warm and will last forever.

  • @GlasgowCeltic88 You are correct they wear like iron and are warm where you need it but allow a breeze where needed as well. Truly they are marvels of woolen engineering. I have two, one has lasted over 17 years (gee I feel old now lol). They're pricey but worth every penny!

  • R.I.P. & Thanks.

  • R.I.P. Liam.

  • Forgot the final verse:

May it please the King of Miracles that I might see,

Although we may live for a week once after,

Gráinne Mhaol and a thousand warriors...

    Dispersing the foreigners!"

    Come on Ireland!!! Eire abú!!!

  • chorus again.

    second verse:

    Chorus

Gráinne O'Malley is coming over the sea,

Armed warriors along with her as her guard,

They are Irishmen, not foreigners nor Spanish...

And they will rout the foreigners!"

The woman is an old symbol for ireland, grainne mhaol(o'malley) was a famous queen of the west of ireland,a real person who rose to such prominence that Elizabeth the first took it upon herself to learn irish in order to negotiate with her.enjoy a 500 year old marching song.

  • I can surly understand that, living near New York City and going there alot when I was young, you could tell whet part of the city they came from. But Ireland a whole country! Kind of like America I guess.

  • Se do bheatha a bhean ba leanmhar! B'e ar gcreach tu bheith i ngeibhinn, Do dhuiche bhrea i seilbh meirleach 'S tu diolta leis na Ghallaibh. Ta Grainne Mhaol ag teacht thar saile, Oglaigh armtha lei mar gharda; Gaeil iad fein 's ni Gaill na Spainnigh, 'S cuirfid siad ruaig ar Ghallaibh. A bhui le Ri na bhfeart go bhfeiceam, Muna mbeam beo 'na dhiaidh ach seachtain, Grainne Mhaol agus mile gaiscioch Ag fogairt fain ar Ghallaibh.
  • Please translate mate, for us new Gaelic students

  • No problem, best weapon we have against imperialism is our language and culture, better than any gun.

    The chorus simply means:

    "Oh-ro you're coming home(x3)

    Now that summer is coming."

Verses:Welcome oh woman who was so afflicted,

It was our ruin that you were in bondage,

Our fine land in the possession of thieves...

And you sold to the foreigners!

  • ya its gaelige! Éire Féin!

  • It's spelt gaeilge

  • spelled*

  • Comment removed

  • I forgot to add, I hate it when people call Irish (language) gaelic..it's just Irish or gailge... lol

  • gaeilge

  • Well it is a Gaelic language, so I don't see why they're so uptight about callin' it Galic back home! Haha :-)

  • when people call it gaelic they are people that dont know the difference between what we speak and what the Scots speak

  • is brea liom mo teanga!

    ta se ana mhaith!

just learned this song on the tin whistle this morning.. trying to learn the words again (I used to know them) this is the only version I can understand...there are so many different accents and in each part of the country has a different dialect.

  • well it is true to a point, many of us americans have some part of irish in our blood, just because we americans have not kept traditions of many "motherlands" doesnt mean we cant claim some sort of background

  • well done , your dead right.

dinny from kerry.thats in ireland by the way. bluegrass rocks..

  • kool deal, my great grandmother(my grandfathers mother) her name was Geniva McCarty...i was wondering if that is a common irish last name...and yes bluegrass does rock haha

  • any american with an irish name or irish ancestory can claim to be irish will always be welcomed home, after all they did leave the country to escape tyranny, hunger, the right to educate themselves and to religous freedom etc.

  • Thank you for saying that. And thank you for being so friendly! You are completely right, that's why my great-grandparents came over!!

  • You're welcome, what was done to our people was one of the most disgusting inhuman acts ever done to a people and the nation that did it will always get away with it.

They caused 3 holocausts in this country,

starting from elizabeth, cromwell, and then the so called potato famine.

Anybody with iIrish blood etc are Irish.

  • I agree!! It started even before Elizabeth. I want to say Henry II of England. The abuse has been going on for more than 800 years

I have nothing at all against any of the English but I think Tony Blair and other important English leaders should learn a lot about their past with Ireland and sincerely write an apology letter to all the Irish and their ancestors.

How come you say "so called potato famine" it was every bit real and many died because the english gave potatoes as their only crop.

  • The blythe affected all euorpean countries not just Ireland but Ireland was the only country to suffer from famine.

The landlords who basically owned Ireland were producing all sorts of food stuff grains, cereals, meat, poultry etc.

before famine broke out there were 200,00 british soldiers when famine broke out an extra 100,000 soldiers were brought in to protect food convoys that were being taken to ports around Ireland.

Loads of food but it wasn't here.

  • @frolicwitme Well, isn't that what the celts did? They fled mainland Europe and went into Britain and Ireland to escape the Romans and just wanted a place to call home. Celtic irish, Celt American...it's all Celt to me. I'm glad you accept this, because there are a lot of Irish that don't feel the same way. Many think all Americans are fulla shit. My friend Tommy from Galway believes that traditional Irish music is dead, but not here mate. Keep Gaeilge alive!

  • @frolicwitme It is good to see a true Irish man! My family left many years ago and now we are considered to be (full) Americans... But I was born (FULL) Irish at heart! And some day I will return home!

  • or 1 eighth

  • AVF nothing annoys me more then Irish like you. I won't apologize for the fact that my ancestors left Ireland during the Famines so that our family would survive. Nobody was saying we "claimed" to be Irish when members of my family went back to Ireland out of loyalty to their mother country in the 60's and 70's to join the IRA and try and force the British out. And nobody "claimed" we were Irish when we were raiseing money for the IRA to keep going even if it ment we went without food

  • In fact, AVF it was just the opposite. My family has given more then most have that still live in Ireland. I could continue if you like I would be happy to debate this with you since im just getting warmed up lol Slàinte
