Funny how the rest of the stages were relatively easy in comparison with this one.

Out of all the levels in this entire game, this is definately the one that I despite the most with every ounce of my being.

This nightmarish level pissed me off more times then I would care to count without the aid of a Blue Yoshi to help me, and it still does to this very day.

i think that's it...from memory. it's been 13 years. LOL

It happens when you finish all the special stages, the very ones seen at 0:05, after beating all eight stages the uppermost star will appear, enter the star and the changes will be made.

@Juniorain The changes actually occur as soon as you beat the the 8th level. If you backtrack and leave via the star you entered by all the sprites will still be replaced!

You can get a Blue Yoshi in Star World 2. Its a water level, and Yoshi's egg is right at the beginning, he will start off as baby Yoshi. There will also be a Star floating down at the beginning of this level. Just let him eat the Star to get big instantly, or eat some enemies in the level to make him big.

There is another, albeit harder level in Star World to get Blue Yoshi (not sure which one but I think it's 5). You can also get the Red and Yellow Yoshis in the Star World levels 1 and 3. Star World has some of the funnest easy levels to play IMO. Great vid btw, I might actually be able to pass this one now..

This is the way to do it! Although when I've used Blue Yoshi/Cape Mario, I was a bit more cautious when avoiding enemies, because I know one wrong move and I'd be screwed ^_^.

When I was first playing this, Yoshi always ate the shell just before the end. Took me a lot of time to realize that I didn't need him to complete the level, so I ditched him and finally completed it. This is about as tough a level as Nintendo ever made for Mario.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I did, but not as fast. I hit the P Switch and used the blocks as footholds to get to and to grab the Koopas.

yes but 4 the game boy version u have 2 find all secret exits and beat all levels i 2 have the game boy version and i thought it was just a hack but once i beat all levels and found all secret exits. it shoes mario stealing a koopa shell and a bobble head falling down
