  • I can't stop watching this! So good!!

  • I personally felt that the lines,

"Handful of senators don't pass legislation/

And marches alone can't bring integration" and

"Think of all the hate there is in Red China/

Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama"

were some of the most poignant and still relevant lines of the song. I wish they were not removed for whatever reasons -- be they reasons of political correctness or simply because this was performed in Australia.

  • Excellent, fantastic, great

  • WOW WOW normally I like the young original versions of singers but this guy blows me away, not only did he improve the lyrics but is older roughed looks helps present the sound. How can a man sing a song 1000's of times yet looks emotionally like he is singing it for the first time is beyond me

  • Wow awesome stuff. He has changed the words slightly from the original but love the part that says '..... hate our next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace'. I saw Barry live way back in NZ Palmerston North in the early 80's at a Christian concert. Wonderful, gentle, Godly man.

    Sutto

  • Sends chills up my spine. The man has a unique voice (something that can't be said for most singers of today).

  • Conservative minds are a ball and chain on societal advancement.

They fought - emancipation 150 years ago! - science 500 years ago - ending human sacrafice 2000 yeas ago!

  • Barry Mcguire sure doesn't look like he aged well. This song and his voice suck just as bad today as they did 43 years ago.

  • @brownclown2010

If you would believe in the same values than McGuire then you would have aged the same way.

  • Have you seen this video yet? Colorado Man Renounces His U.S. Citizenship?

  • @sharlenemusiclover

Thanks for the heads up, very interesting. From there I stumbled across some guy named Ken O'Keefe. The guy is brilliant. Im now a big Ken O'Keefe fan :-)

  • the song sounds better the more barrys voice has aged

  • timeless and as valid as ever. ...and one of the first songs ever banned on US radio

  • Still so f---ing Relevent!!!! and what a voice for someone in his 70s!!!!

    love it!!! georgia & brian

  • Real nice!

  • Yes THIS Is even more spiritual than thie other versions. I have been playing Eve Of Destruction, I have it on my phone, and just think about how much more time DO we have left?????

  • A lot of lyrics were changed, but it's still incredible. The man has some pipes.

  • And he corrected his own mistake, that's the way we will ever learn :

"Think of all the hate there is in Red China"

    became

"Think of all the hate that's still inside us"

  • this song has 45 years but it seems today

  • i like how he changes the lyrics everytime and fittingly too

  • Barry inspired me decades ago.... still does....

  • I remember when this song was fresh on the radio in the 60's......and it is even more meaningful today.....

    a real classic tune.......with a real story

  • @dustyrustee

Me too - it was one of the only songs that described my anger and revulsion without pushing for violence -I loved all the flowers and love, but some things are supposed to make you mad.

  • quality.................................

  • Many thanks for sharing !

  • i am 58(almost 59 years of age) and have the original LP album.......priceless!

  • I do believe we are on the eve of destruction. Only we've been there for too long...we've been on the eve of destruction for decades.

  • @frank47hammer lol wut.

  • Spicks and Specks? suprised they allowed the name Spicks in it,here in the states we would be call racist

  • @tatethompson1234 Its from the Bee Gees single - Spicks and Specks!

  • @tatethompson1234

and THAT is a major problem in the US

it is the people who are PC crazy!

  • barry was 73 here

  • Barry sang this much better than he did back in the 60's.. his voice is not as broke up.. I like this version. Thanks.

  • you can leave for 4 days in space but when you return it's the same old place.

  • We know.........

  • Powerful stuff, Mr. McGuire, powerful stuff!

  • TUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ha! Go Barry McQuire. Still has such a beautiful spirit. :)

  • Wow hes still got it.

  • barry siempre fue la neta con esa rola...

  • This guy is not Barry McGuire, it's José María Iñigo!!!

  • @siatodo the old man next to him is barry mcguire idiot...

  • i heard him do this live 25 yrs ago and this brings back lots of memories

  • The end after the curtain closed was true, when will we ever learn eh?

  • lovely

  • After all these years, this song still sends a chill running down my spine.

  • Damn....after all these years still sends a chill down my spine

  • he´s really sympathic to me

  • If you don't know history , you will have to repeat it .

  • great post

  • superb record. voice better with age

  • WOW!!!!! OVER AND OVER AGAIN !!!!!!!! Still gives me the shivers! What a song!

  • It is even more passionate and minimal than the earlier version.....super stuff!!

  • He's still got it!

    My all time favourite song!

  • Wonderful is his last part sung taken from "Where have all the flowers gone"...

    ah.. a wonderful song!

  • Would have been better by himself and done like the original.

Still one of the all time best songs.

  • Original lyrics are much better but still love this song

  • And also....I loved McGuire's song "You were on my mind", great song

  • Before watching this video, I watched a video from 1969. McGuire was young and seeing him now, aged 74, is touching, almost moving. I was a little boy when his song made furore in the Usa and Europe. Great man, God bless you. Thank you for all the emotions you have given us.

  • 74 years old

  • Lovely!

  • how old is he?

  • great =)
