were some of the most poignant and still relevant lines of the song. I wish they were not removed for whatever reasons -- be they reasons of political correctness or simply because this was performed in Australia.
WOW WOW normally I like the young original versions of singers but this guy blows me away, not only did he improve the lyrics but is older roughed looks helps present the sound. How can a man sing a song 1000's of times yet looks emotionally like he is singing it for the first time is beyond me
Wow awesome stuff. He has changed the words slightly from the original but love the part that says '..... hate our next door neighbor but don't forget to say grace'. I saw Barry live way back in NZ Palmerston North in the early 80's at a Christian concert. Wonderful, gentle, Godly man.
Thanks for the heads up, very interesting. From there I stumbled across some guy named Ken O'Keefe. The guy is brilliant. Im now a big Ken O'Keefe fan :-)
Yes THIS Is even more spiritual than thie other versions. I have been playing Eve Of Destruction, I have it on my phone, and just think about how much more time DO we have left?????
Me too - it was one of the only songs that described my anger and revulsion without pushing for violence -I loved all the flowers and love, but some things are supposed to make you mad.
Before watching this video, I watched a video from 1969. McGuire was young and seeing him now, aged 74, is touching, almost moving. I was a little boy when his song made furore in the Usa and Europe. Great man, God bless you. Thank you for all the emotions you have given us.
I can't stop watching this! So good!!

I personally felt that the lines,
"Handful of senators don't pass legislation/
And marches alone can't bring integration" and
"Think of all the hate there is in Red China/
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama"
were some of the most poignant and still relevant lines of the song. I wish they were not removed for whatever reasons -- be they reasons of political correctness or simply because this was performed in Australia.

Sends chills up my spine. The man has a unique voice (something that can't be said for most singers of today).

Barry Mcguire sure doesn't look like he aged well. This song and his voice suck just as bad today as they did 43 years ago.

@brownclown2010
If you would believe in the same values than McGuire then you would have aged the same way.

A lot of lyrics were changed, but it's still incredible. The man has some pipes.

And he corrected his own mistake, that's the way we will ever learn :
"Think of all the hate there is in Red China"
became
"Think of all the hate that's still inside us"
