At 40 is the top of the Big Hill, Rhymney Railway from Taffs Well. The old Barry Railway line crossed overhead. From our left came the Walnut Tree Viaduct line from Barry and on the right came the Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport from Pontypridd. A unique railway spot in South Wales. See on You Tube 'Lost Railways. Taffs Well Walnut Tree junction to Aber junction' This has more shots of this line.
I'm pretty sure they are auto-coaches. Those triple windows on the end are quite distinctive of a driving cab. An early solution to problems nowadays solved by DMUs.
My grandfather worked at Wattstown pit and I spent the first year of my life in a cottage on Incline Row, about 200 yards to the right of where this was filmed. The pit, the railway and the house are all gone now.
this is the first and last time im watching this!!!

Filmed at just the right time - note the Taff Vale A class at Penrhos Jt , the Rhymney tank engine
Taffs Well , Upper Boat and a newish 94xx tank with a Stanier hooter - priceless gem IMHO
