Amen! Damn! WTF!!! Such passion...dude has got to have a Jeri Curled soul...and I thought Christina Aguilera's version was the bomb. James Brown has got to be close to waking from that dirt nap....
It ain't "A Tail of 2 Cities"...... got that in front of me. Matt was't playing a super deep pearl kit .....was a Slingerland. Awwwwwsome cut though!!
Mule tore into this song at the Fillmore in Denver a few months earlier to much surprise. I was floored by the presence of Warren on stage during this song. It was huge. God bless James Brown and Warren Haynes!
@recordcastle One of my favorite besides jeff beck live in London jamn with that chic....:) Awseome video and thank you for putn it out there...Peace ~
Warren has an AWESOME voice and plays awesome 2! he nails every cover I've ever seen him do! I also like what he threw in this song! LOL so true! Tell it warren!!!!
I ve seen him with the dead, filling in for Jerry, but also bringin himself into it , and it was a good sound. I ve seen him with the Allman brothers, and the same goes, bottom line this Warren Haynes is a stand up guy.
By deliberately NOT attempting to position himself as a "rock star," Warren...over the course of the last decade-plus...has emerged as one of the most talented rock stars we HAVE. Saw him with the Allmans while Dickey was still in the band (The "Where We All Belong" tour). I've followed the Dead stuff, Mule, all of it...this clip is further proof that he can put his stamp on anything he chooses while still respecting the original. Thanks for posting.
Well said. Warren is a tireless performer. Everybody wants him to play with them that in itself says it all, He not only has the respect of his fans but more importantly his peers. He is by far the hardest working muscian out there & I say muscian because his vocals often get overshadowed by his amazin guitar jams.
DUDE YOU GUYS MUSIC IS SOOOOOOO TIGHT,,im workin on a sample for this song and i was wondering if i cud use ur guitar solo(s) ,, and the tennor player is BEAST! i play the tennor too but not lik that lol keep doin wat u do man u sound great, and i like ur bush verse lol
I particularly like music with a politcal point of view. A lot of the best music that came form this country IS political. Music comes from within a person they play music first for themselves than for an audiance.
Trouble today is that muscians are more worried about making money than being true to themselves.
As a musician I strongly diagree with leaving the politics out of music ....music can and in fact has changed the world ... I grew up in the 60's when just about every group was doing some sort of protest song and I often wonder why practically no groups are saying anything about the world we live in .... so go ahead and keep your views to yourself ...see how far it gets you.... in the 60's it worked ... I applaud him for not being afraid to express his view of things.....
I'm a musician too. I went to college in the 60's. The problem is that most musicians don't know shit about what their talking about so all they end up doing is pushing their own personal, somewhat uninformed opinion's down everybody's throats. Also there seems to be an almost universally Liberal mind set among musicians so they certainly aren't independent thinkers. For the most part I don't like it when musicians and actors push their politics but it's their right to do so.
Whether it's informed or not, it's what they want to say, and I hate it when musicians stifle their own opinions just to please others. It makes the whole thing seem more like business than art. Be it politics, be it religion, be it just general beliefs, I'm always glad when musicians share their opinions with their listeners. It makes everything seem a lot more personal and honest.
Sorry but what does "Art" have to do with politics? The two don't mix well. The fact is that expressing ones political opinions probably pleases just as many people as not expressing them (you're just pleasing a different crowed) so what's your point with that statement?
All muscians/actors whould leave the politics out of their performances. I am deeply rooting in my political views and love music. KEEP THEM APART! Let's just enjoy the music!
p.s I know it's not going to happen, Wishfull thinking.
fantastic version ! Warren the guitar-hero of today : real bluesman...the band is terrific, maestro musos but this is too easy to bang Bush today, no politics comments on stage, play the music, only the music..politics by musicians is boredom, hypocrit, waste of time, pathetic...play the bloody Music!!
im so happy to see this posted james brown was known as the hardest working man in show biz he truly was great but since i started listening to govt mule and saw how many people warren plays with and the long hours he can play for i started calling him the hardest working man in show biz great post
i love warren, but it does not take balls to talk shit about bush. everyone in hollywood does it daily. it is also a cheap way to get the audience on your side. it takes real balls to say you like bush and then watch the crowd turn against you. greg allman for president
