  • I have the utmost respect for both Robert Plant and Alison Krauss. Both are willing to try something completely out of their elements, both are hard working, talented, and void of ego. The fact that Plant can go from something as vocally powerful and as driving as Dazed and Confused to something as subtle and tender as Polly Come Home is a true testament to his talent. You can tell he isn't content with just standing still.

  • Everyone's gonna think I'm spamming, but what the hell -

HAVE THIS ON MY IPOD, BORN IN 96.

    'Nuff said :)

  • @IJustCanOK cool story bro

  • @IJustCanOK cool story bro

  • @magua4 No shit! I've done that myself numerous times XD

  • @nihonjinonnanochitsu

Dear sir/madam, do you think that an artist like Robert Plant was born in this world only to chase women around?

  • The Dillard and Clark version is like sweet clover honey laced with love, whiskey and longing. I never regret to see good songs repeated.

  • Gene Clark was the better singer/writer by far but good to see plant pay homage to an underrated great,

  • absolutely beautiful, thank you for doing this.

  • mistrzostwo, niezaprzeczalnie !

  • i cannot believe the beauty. we as humans are not worthy

  • @teriseopotamus - verging on the pretentious....

  • Haunting and beautiful, this song puts me in a trance every time I hear it.

  • this song is amazing to get high to lol

  • This is a prayer.

  • so amazing

  • Soothing and addicting. With some beautiful harmonizing and "sittin on the porch at sunset" guitar work.

  • Don't Plant it; smoke it.

  • Robert Plant the real artist of this planet

  • Robert Plant the best

  • Amazeing!

  • T Bone, you legend.

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever

  • Marc Ribot is such an amazing addition to this collaboration

  • Bought the music on Itunes but I'm back for more to see this. thank you for making it.

  • אחד השירים הטובים שלו.... מלך

  • merci! wonderful! thanks!!!

  • For those people who have not listened to the entire Raising Sand album, there is another Gene Clark song on the album called "Through the Morning, Through the Night". Alison sings lead on this one while Plant accompanies her. The end result, much like Polly Come Home, is pure magic.

  • Beautiful.

  • beautiful! so so beautiful! I could listen to this song over and over again all day long if I could.

  • Krauss and Plant artists

  • beautiful, beautiful song. This takes me back to a previous love. I dont know why, but it tells the story so well.

  • @RealDealPhill: Same here. I was on military Active Duty for over a year - 1,300 miles from my fiance' and the distance between us was just too much. I listened to this song a lot at the time as things disintegrated between us. I guess this song will always make me think of her simply because it expresses the phrase of wanting someone you love to "come home again".

  • Unusual and haunting!

  • atmospheric...classy...lights out...enjoy...

  • Plant and Krauss sound fantastic together. Raising Sand is one of the most unique, and absolutely enjoyable albums I've ever listened to.

  • @miragemammaries it is either unique or not unique almost unique is like being a little bit pregnant

  • @hangingrocker First of all, it is for me whatever I interpret it to be. Second of all, if you READ what I wrote, you'll see that I said "one of the most unique", not almost unique.

And, I don't recall soliciting your opinon in the first place. There are enough smartass trolls in the world already-don't contribute to the cause...

  • Wow! How did Plant get his vocal chords replaced! He's more beautiful and clear than ever! Until this cd it was almost painful hearing him perform live, at the R&R HOF etc., his voice was just stripped & raw with no range and shaky pitch.

He was beautiful here though - which is good, since AK has the most pure, clear and beautiful voice in music today. It was actually brave of RP to record with her, but he pulled it off. A triumph. This cd is rightly becoming an all-time classic.

  • @jum1801 I think it's probably Produced/Mixed/Processed better than alot of live performances.

In a studio environment, any vocalist can sound good if treated properly on a recording.

  • @tylertyler420420 I did gush a bit there, didn't I? No doubt the geniuses of the board have made miracles before. And surely there was engineering sweetening and smoothing going on here. Still, I'd hate to think that what I sounded like a Handsome Prince voice was really just some kind of engineered frog.

  • @jum1801 Robert Plant has one of the most recognisable, pure true and emotional voices EVER. He may not be tutored but he's had a lifetime of singing on some of the most iconic tracks ever recorded, It's lovely to hear him attempt and excel at a new (for him) genre. there is nothing this man cannot do, so far as I'm concerned.

  • He's got it back together again. That voice is iconic

  • @jum1801 what you talking about man?? plant alwais had a great voice! he just lost his high pitch that all..

  • @jum1801 Its amazing when 15 years off the hard drugs will do to a guys throat.

  • One of the most important albums of this year just amazing!!!!

  • This tune just keeps playin in my head !

  • So nice

    :)

  • I bet this song was slowed down 15-20% before they've sang... Sounds amazing!

  • @hhobegginernew no it was played this way.

  • rasing sands was one of the best gigs I,ve ever seen. plant tribute to Sandy Denny was amazing as was Alison take on battle forever more. But saying that when she sang Sister Rosetta Goes Before Us. I felt myself melting still do. what a brilliant collaboration. Plant,s a national treasure

  • god put robert plant and jimmy page on this planet for 1 reason!, to educate people realy music! music that has meaning, and such strong emotion, robert plant all the wayy!!

  • i am the 688 588 viewer! :) :)

  • I like the Dillard & Clark original version. This cover ripped the heart out of the song and trampled on it.

  • @micesmeal ..he s so versatile..talented guy

  • Beautiful song by Gene Clark interpreted by two of the greats....

Wish Gene was alive to hear this!

  • It seems to me this would be good soundtrack material for a western movie.

  • @TheTroubledTroubador I agree!

  • @TheTroubledTroubador yes i agree

  • I'd love to have another album by them.

  • so reminicent of his Zep sound! absolutely beautiful and haunting.

  • Wow. I'm a big fan of the original by Dillard and Clark, but this just blows me away.

  • I sang this song in my talent show(:

1st place. Robert plants voice is amazing.

  • Love the pictures. Great selection!! Thanks.

  • Soothing to the soul. Always enjoyed them as separate artist, loving it that they got together!

  • Am I the only one having nightmares of the picture at 1:30,,This is a beautiful song and my favorite from the raising sand, but that picture bothers me, I'm sorry:(

  • My dad was a huge Led Zeplin fan bu her never showed me any music. I'm to young to be a fan but after listening to this song I think I could listen to any Robert Plant Song

  • Mesmerizing and deep, like a Druid's lamentation of love.

  • THIS IS ONE OF THE TRIPPIEST YET MOST EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL DUO'S EVER

  • Man he can sing...oh yes we can talk about his majestic voice in Zeppelin, BUT his vocals are so emotional and sensitive here...very unique i feel.

  • this is so beautiful,,,, robert and alison sound like angel's

  • Thanks a lot, really good.

  • Lovely song and video..Thank you for the joy of viewing this one..Z:)

  • They are very good together... :)

  • wow. heard this song and wow. speechless

  • what a song. sigh

  • Thank you so much foe the video.

  • Again, Awesome job!

    Encore, Encore!

Thank god his new album is coming out!

Ditched the Strange Sensation, and has been working with a new band... 2011 folks!

    :)

  • In drama class we had to have this song as a background song for a scene in our play, In the scene i had to tell a little girl her mother past away and when the teacher put this song on as i went to say my line it caught my attention and i teared up.

The voice of a god I must say ! <3

  • His voice sounds so perfect that it doesn't even sound real.

  • I keep coming back to this song, its just so soothing and sad at the same time.

  • robert plant is like a fine wine....keeps getting better with age

  • Haunting. Beautiful. Sensual. Powerful. Mesmerizing. I heard this song on the radio on the way down to Grand Isle, LA to see the BP Deepwater spill damage first-hand. I had never heard it before. Admittedly, I had no idea who sang the song. I sang the praises of the radio DJ who gave details. I was awestruck and vowed that I would track down the details upon my return home. The power of this song is transcendent and give hope that human genius makes sense of this cruel world. Bravo!

  • @brentjunger YOU are just a cool person and that must have been a hell of an experience. That DJ is the shit and if I heard this on the radio i might just stop the car to concentrate on the music. haha

  • totally atmospheric...lovely song...mmmm

  • great song, great album

    love it!

they literally "rose sands" in this album and put a new twist on old lyrics, its pretty interesting to look at the original versions of the songs that they cover in this album then get into their authors.

  • Love to drive to this song.

    Awesome

  • my teacher showed us this song for some reason? but I righted down the name and i love it. reminds me of a book. good rhythm, nice tone even though its about a million time slower than wat i listen 2.

  • It's amazing how this can be so soft and intense at the same time...

  • I am surprised at how much I like this, even though Robert Plant's sound is a stark 180 from his Led Zeppelin days. Change can be good I suppose. :)

  • A great cover of this song on a brilliant album, gotta love Dillard and Clarks version though!!

  • Sounds very idyllic. Very beautiful arrangement indeed.

  • she is so fine, together they just breathe sexy

  • This song is simply amazing!

  • Alison Krauss is a truly beautiful woman...and they both have such magnificent voices :)

  • i give plant alot of credit for doing this. hes stil got it

  • Yep. This is unbelievable.

I've always known he was great. But this proves it (for me).

  • out on 66 i still see her

    with her thumb out

how far can you take this thing?

    she said

    far as the pacific

well: i'm in a hurry, she said

    lets blow this pop stand

    and in those days

    nobody ever looked back

  • like butta!!!!

  • Still one of my favs

  • @CWSiler

lovely song and a gorgeous arrangement, no?

  • Beautiful.....

  • Check out the Dillard and Clark original version. Very heart felt.

  • @SpectrumRob I just did and you are right! Thank you! Now my musical horizons have just been broadened thanks to you! I'm going to look further into Dillard and Clark as Country/Rock fusion is my favorite kind of music! Thank you again!

  • @sneric401 You're welcome! I love this stuff even though I'm now a Psytrance DJ.

  • Thank You for video! It's really good!

  • My favorite song on the album, I would say. Soup for the soul.

  • wondeful!

  • It's like having breakfast with a lovely lady at a Husky truck stop.

  • @Ypipable.....that couldn't have been said better...

  • I really don't think music can get much better than that...

  • Very Nice..Song.!!

  • This was a fantastic album. Not a pairing many people would have thought of, but they forget that Plant has long had an appreciation for folk, blues and other roots musics. Zeppelin's recording of "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" is said to be inspired by Joan Baez' version of the song, as Plant had been a Baez fan in the early hears of her career. And for a bluegrass/folk singer, Alison Krauss has a much broader musical scope than one would imagine.

  • I just fell in love.

  • I picked up the Raising Sand cd, this song sounds better here than the cd. It took me a while to get into the cd, but it has great atmoshere to it.If it weren'for this upload I wouldn't have picked it up. Thanxs !

  • Very very nice montage.

  • this is my favorite song from the album. still feels good listening to it a year later...

  • THis is really cool.

  • q legal

  • beautiful video,great voices

    thanks :-)

  • i disagree softrance... wanting to understand understanding ? self awareness is tricky, when all u have is a brain...

  • Hauntingly beatiful. Musical poetry.

  • Zeppelin are myths

  • I concur with that thought !

  • i don't understand what the song is about exactly. Can anyone explain?

  • @Silencer84

Spiritual one for asking a girl to come back...

  • This sounds better than the cd.

  • This song is to die for.

  • Play Great Spirit come home from Plants Fate of Nations.. (acoustic version on single) This is basically it.

  • What is that pose at 4:13

  • beautiful

  • if God has a sound, this is it.

  • great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great editing cjoye!

  • shag me cjoye09

  • So deep.. so happy I bought this cd back when it came out!

Robert Plant is my favo singer/songwriter, folk and rock singer!!

And I love Alison's whispering voice as well!

  • unbelievable song..

  • Wow this song is truly amazing!!

  • Thank you for this marvelous video. The melding of Plant and Krauss is excellent. Continued blessings to you.

  • Plant still got it....but please return to led zep for one more tour and come near to my country!!

  • the led zeppelin is OVER, i just read up on it... sad, they couldent find a singer....

i cant beleve led zeppelin is over forever

  • It doesn't get much better than this, thanks for making this excellent video! ;-)

  • I just love Gebe Clark singing this beautifully haunting ballad

  • @aa4018881

he was the byrds' best songwriter... on his own he just sky-rocketed as a writer... but never quite got the attention he deserved... CBS favoured the byrds' younger than yesterday over gene clark and the gosdin brothers *sigh*

i know which album i preferred!

  • I hear this deep within my soul...So very good...

  • Robert come home, Jimmy is waiting for you!

  • That's the problem. JP appears to be stuck in the past. Witness his efforts with the Black Crowes, RP & JP, the reunion, etc.-rehashing the same songs in the same format. RP was the one pushing and experimenting with other instruments and sounds. Witness RP's Rockwell Nordoff-Robbins Concert or Womad-LZ material with new sounds. Unfortunately for now JP is stuck on repeat mode...

  • Robert is agod .,...

  • Still one of my all time favs....thanks once again cj

  • You're welcome, thanks for staying tuned in!

  • It's a soulful dirge. Love it. Plant is timeless.

  • very good song

  • STUNNING!!!!!

  • What a great song.. so magical.. they sound wonderful together..!

  • obviously not that huge, nor a fan of google

  • come on dude gimme a break
