I love this band. The best memories of all their songs are deep, deep inside of me 'til the day I die. What great times and memories. It's all we have left to reminisce of a time that we will never see again.
Watch the movie a Hard Days Night again and the Dave Clark 5 are in it. When the girl on the train at the beginning of the movie is holding a magazine. It is a Fabulous Magazine and The Dave Clark 5 are on the cover of that magazine. The girl holding that magazine became George Harrisons' wife.
i have their greatest hits on casette 2 casette very rare find but i was lucky to find them i paid only 50 cent for both of them at a yard sale ....boy what a find
@CANARVONKID So you've pointed out. So often--on the many DC5 postings on YT. Francoise Hardy, a very prolific young French singer/songwriter of the same era, chose not to sing her songs live. That doesn't make her any less of a genius, musically. Anyone who's ever heard the countless rock musicians who manage to butcher their own songs live (including McCartney), knows how overrated a live performance of a recorded hit can be.
By the way, at what age did you chose heterosexuality?
@nauort23 ...Let me say up front, that I am a big fan of the DC5, and have always been!
My gripe is that no matter where you choose to look, you will NEVER find any videos of them playing "Live".
This has been Dave Clarks doing, as he has made sure none will ever get to be shown, which is a big shame.
They could never duplicate their studio sound on stage, as they would use every trick in the book to produce that wall of sound, which was in fact before Phil Spector!!
@CANARVONKID In 1964 they were a Beatles knock-off. In 65 they had some relevance. But they were not even close pretenders to the throne. Yyou make a great point about their stage presence. Where you never see DC5 live, with the Beatles, some of their greatest iconic performances were live. And I'm not talking about just Shea. From Ed Sullivan to the rooftops of England the Beatles brought music to us, the people. DC5 in a can is all you ever got. Served up by a manager and a producer
@MrArnold1972 Well. You may personally have thought the beatles looked like 'shit' , but I think music and film history will speak for itself. In keeping with my New Years resolution, seeing the positive side of all situations, I hope you enjoy your minority opinion. The last two lines about 'giving the beatles songs to other bands' made me laugh so hard I farted. I always loved DC5 with their suits, mop top hair and beatle boots. Original.
@MrArnold1972 you obviously were not alive when the beatles were famous. I have never been to a movie (Hard days night) where people were standing and cheering and yelling during the movie. Beatlemania was incredible, from the US to other parts of the world, the beatles made their influence. My wife is from Japan and the beatles were just as famous there as they were in England and the US. Her brother has all their albums. In my life I have never seen such hysteria.
@MrArnold1972 You don't know what the hell you're talking about. 100 years from now, people will still be listening to the Beatles. They were the most innovative, creative band in rock history. They have influenced nearly every one who came after them. Go back to listening to Lady GaGa or Eminem or whatever kind of shit you probably think is music.
@MrArnold1972 I didn't say everyone. I said nearly everyone. Lady GaGa and Eminem were influeced by crap like Madonns and "rap artists" who have such a lack of musical talent that they have to "sample" music by real musicians. What innovations do I mean? The Beatles were the first band to write most of their own songs and play their own instruments on their recordings They were incredible songwriters. And they were respected by musicians from jazz to classical (Leonard Bernstein was a huge fan)
@MrArnold1972 i hate lady gaga and eminem more than anybody but lady gaga has been influenced by the beatles.she is a beatles fan.she even performed the john lennon song imagine in concert.so you are just showing how ignorant you are.all you have to do is look at the music and how things were different before the beatles and after the beatles came.
The dave Clark Five has given me alot of memories when I was listening to them at 19 yrs old back in 1994 they would put me to sleep at night I had some crushes on all the band members LOL they were hot back then my fondest memories is when they said " CATCH US IF YOU CAN"
Great clip to showcase Denny as well. I was so excited to see the DC5 get their due from the Rock Hall of Fame but so sad that Mike didn`t make it to the induction, nor did Denny. Miss them and miss that sound as well.
@CeeCeeable I saw a local heavy metal band a dozen years back and they had a sax in the middle of it. I thought they were damn good. Reminded me of these guys.
He isn't. He never had the time for marriage because he was too busy with other things. He dated Cathy McGowan from "Ready, Steady, Go!" and admitted to having fun with other women during the sixties. Having a serious relationship just wasn't doable for him at the time.
@sapphiretaurus Excuse me sapphiretaurus, but Dave Clark was more interested in Richard Chamberlain than Cathy McGowan!...That was just a front for the media.
Dave liked boys big time, and probably still does!.....nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more!
@CANARVONKID Just because Richard Chamberlain guest starred on the DC5's TV special doesn't mean Dave is a homosexual. He dated Cathy McGowan and flings with many women. There was no front for the media.
@CANARVONKID A person's sexual preference is NOT a personal choice. Who in their right mind would CHOOSE to be gay given all the shit and hassle it involves and indeed who on earth would CHOOSE to be a paedophile? Do you really think that they were offered a choice of being sexually attracted to men, women or kids and decided, "Ooh, I want to be sexually attracted to kids so everyone will want to kill me?"
@abelseeman : Obviously you are not speaking from experience then?
People choose the gay lifestyle, cause from their experience, they like it and prefer it.
I don't want to get into the whole psychological aspect of it, but depending on a persons early experiences with sexuality,it normally shapes which way they are going to head down for the rest of their lives, barring of course, a miraculous change from within!
From my experience I never chose my sexual orientation, the types I fancy, the things I like doing or any other tastes like my dislike of beetroot or my musical tastes all of which were "dumped" on me. Do you really think homophobically bullied school-kids choose it or Dave Clark might choose it at a time when it was illegal and girls were screaming for him. If one could choose then one could choose to change, something Christian anti-gays believe and you give credibility to.
@CANARVONKID We do make choices all the time of what to do, when, how and who with. However we do not choose our orientation nor can that be influenced by others in itself although they can express how you use it.. Are you going to seriously tell us that at age 11 you sat down and decided that you were going to have sexual urges for both men and women. Also gays do not have an identity crisis. they know what they are. the crisis is a social one of fitting in with others prejudices.
Shindig!!! Yep! That & Ed Sullivan brought sooo much excellent music into our living-rooms back in the day! Black & White @ that!

@pillroller88 for a start they were not a beatles knock-off.its the songs that made the beatles not the beatles themselves.
Personally i thought the beatles looked like shit on stage.boring and un-eventful.
if you had given the beatles songs to any other group of the 60s they too would have been what mindless morons would call the best band in history.
they had ringo starr as drummer who looks like a spare cock at a wedding.he doesnt fit at all.
the beatles were way over-hyped .

i would argue with you over what you call "They were the most innovative creative band in rock history!"
What innovations do you mean.?
also you say that they influenced everyone after them.!!!..what utter shit. How have eminem and lady gaga been influenced by the beatles..?
you had better think about the shit you have just posted.

@abelseeman Throughout our whole lives we all make choices, be they for our good or ill!
Sometimes choices are made for us, but once we reach a certain age, it is us who make them!
Our choices, made from within, have all been influenced from without, by friends teachers, family, heroes and villains etc.
I have been bi/sexual since I was 11 years of age, and if people think Gays have an identity crisis, then bi/sexuals are in a worse predicament!
