not to sound lik a tool but this is actually classified as a ram air intake a cold air intake is away from the heat of the engine bay but for being done at home this guy did a better job then most shops looks clean and adds some aggressiveness to the look of the car
@guerilla619 a gasoline mist will ignite, as it does in all IC engines. But put only oxygen into an engine and you get...nothing...the spark can ignite, at the spark plug, but nothing will happen. That is why when you run out of gasoline, by failing to keep gasoline in the tank , the engine stops running :-)
@guerilla619 I would suggest that you go to the local welding store or dive shop and purchase a bottle of pure oxygen. And try to light it with whatever method you wish. Then please let me know the results. Thanks.
So now you have different pipe and a different air filter. Does it really do anything noticable? I think it is a gimmick. It gets a little more air now. Whippidy do!!
"ignite the oxygen" and " Oxygen actually helps ignite the fuel" where the hell did you guys learn this? first of all oxygen inst flammable. gasoline vapors are flammable with the presence of an oxidizer in normal cases its oxygen.
moral of story is that he SPARK from the spark plug is there to HELP IGNITE the FUEL/OXYGEN mixture. =P
Not an air filter and not a heat shield. Never mind, all you will do is sandblast the engine by allowing huge bits of muck and dirt through. Small surface area means bigger holes for the same airflow as a paper element. A paper one FILTERS the air.
i think short ram has a less chance of hydrolocking your engine. and it might be better in performance cause the air travels a shorter distance to the engine
a Short ram or "warm intake" dose not make as much as a cold intake warm is about 3-5 hp and cold 5-10. the cold air is better but due to it being low in the front close to the ground a water gate is needed to stop water from leading into your motor were is the ram air is just using the warm are in the bay and has less chance of this happening but is also much cheeper and easyer to install
well u get low end horsepower with short ram but mid and high end with cold air..and it more air in your engine at the time with the cold air mean more power..and just get a nylon socks for your cold air
cold air intake is better, short ram makes nice power in the low 2 mid rpms but cold air makes more power overall Bcuz the air is more dense with it being outside the engine bay the air is cooler
People say ram intake because when your driving the air gets sucked more easily into the air filter as opposed to just sucking the same air in the engine bay
wrong uve installed a box and new air filter if u want any increase u take the stock tubbing from the intake manifold to ur box and put the metal one sold for this truck thats just a diffrent filter no mpg gain and probly very littel hp gain at all
@BELLA40692 No its better to keep the stock tubbing because it doesnt heat up as much like metal tubing does...my cold air intake has the metal tube and after like 5 min of driveing the fucking tube is hoter than shit..so its just heating up the air flowing throu it
Dosent it supposed to be alumminum to increase heat exchange? What if you intake pure welding oxygen into your engine? What will happen ?Lol please answer me...Maybe 30% pure oxygen and 70 % normal air?
metal pipes convect heat. metal/aluminum pipes aren't good for air intake systems. the best intake systems use plastic pipes. Iceman for example, is an entirely plastic pipe, and it provides one of the coolest air charges of any aftermarket intake.
for the record, "cool air" doesn't do much for power. it helps a little bit, but not like you think. VELOCITY/FLOW makes power ;)

@psyco180 a heat shield and dry flow filter is the same as a CAI, the aluminum body is a joke really
cb7pwn 11 months ago
a COLD air intake is USELESS!!!
no matter how cold you try to get that air
by the time it gets to the lower intake manifold it is as hot as with a stock filter
no matter what you do if you take the air filter and stick it threw the hood and go 100mph in a Canadian blizzard it will make NO difference.
now getting MORE air in helps alot
so it doesnt matter where the filter is
just get more air in filtered

@hljmesa The oxygen you are referring to is not pure oxygen. The oxygen in "air" is not pure, it has other things in it.

most probably it will melt your pistons and stuff. You need more gasoline injected too to help the mixture not to go too lean
DStylesHanska 2 years ago
If there is too much oxygen, your piston wont fire. The fuel is there to help ignite the oxygen.
Ace28233 2 years ago
Actually, oxygen does not ignite by itself. :-)
hljmesa 2 years ago 3
@hljmesa Correct. The Oxygen actually helps ignite the fuel. Lol. Not the other way around.

Change the plastic tube to metal pipe. This is the next step for Ya.
It helps a lot, decreasing the turbulence, and let the engine get more cool air...
