Chrono Trigger was the first game that I went into not knowing what to expect at all (only saw the title, really), and I was COMPLETELY blown away. It will always be up there with my absolute favorite games.

If they remade music and the graphics, if they only changed the name of the game it shouldn't be opposed to any copyright issues, it would simply make an indie game. @Massacretalitor No not only did Sqaure cancel it on them, they sued them also. They are not working on it undercover. But i had a lot of hope for this game before it got shut down. It makes me sad it had to happen this way. They should have just spun the entire world around. Like a mirror world on everything. Changed the name of the game and the characters. And they can be happy the developers were so polite to actually stop their work. If I'd had been the producer, I would just have said f*ck off and continued with the project, maybe under another unrelated title. I would bet my head back in the old SNES-era this would've never happen...
Whatever, Chrono Cross was great, you just have to give it a chance...

@777neotamakachi777 What's your problem? Final Fantasy, I must say, is a very interesting series. I loved the older versions and do enjoy some of the newer kinds. However, the new one, didn't deliver what the brand was known for over the many years of its lifespan. Yes, Chrono Trigger might not have been as great as some of the Final Fantasy games, but it was very good on its own level. It's obvious the company has neglected many franchises that could have proven very useful to Square-Enix.

Well, Activision just allowed Pheonix-Online to remake Kings Quest, granted them a non-commercial lisence to the property. I think, Square should contact these folks, help put the team back together, pay them, and make this quiet possibly the best Square Game since the original CT. All it took was public outcry, us, the people, the fans, saying hey, we want this game, so why not.

Honestly Chrono Trigger has not received the praise it deserves, it remains as one of the best rpg's of all time, and definatly deserves a remake, whether Squaresoft will realise this is an uncertainty, in my opinion its right on level with some of the best Final Fantasy's in the series.

I mean, it would be just like FF13, a rpg with a hi-tech feel, I just think they could go in another way, making the series return to that "epic" kind of storyline (FF1 to 5) and forget the machinery for some years. And, with this, they could easily make a remake of Chrono Trigger of even Cross, both have a wonderful storyline and would work great on actual platforms.

@darkstylezvideo The reason why Square can't make a remake is because various members of the team who created this VG are not part of Square anymore. The creating members still hold partial copyrights. They are now called monolithsoft. Xenosaga who was made by Monolith team who at the time was owned by Namco was also given a cease and desist warning for the 3rd installment to the infringement in likeness of Xenogears which is a square product.
All the Square-Enix stuff aside. I love there graphics style. I wish they would have made there own RPG, with there own story after square stopped this one.

Squaresoft has no idea how big of a mistake this was. If they bought this product out it would have been an epic marketing venture and a good move for the business. Maybe one day we WILL see Chrono Trigger again, but it's a shame it wasn't sooner rather than later.

Final fantasy was Great from 7 - 10
1-6 had good story lines but lacked the game play graphics to keep me interested.
10-2 had a fun battle system.
11 forward I gave up on. I've been thinking about getting 13 but... NAHH!!
As for Chrono trigger as well as Chrono Cross.
I would JUMP at the opportunity to get it
As long as the only modification was to the Graphics.

I just beat CT for the 4th time. About to do New Game + and I lament that there hasn't been a real remake.
I guarantee that FFVII and CT would get a real remake... if Square-Enix ever is about to go bankrupt.
Also, was anyone depressed after playing Chrono Cross? It was alright, but I have no idea why they changed the battle system... it is awesome.
Chrono Cross could have been done in SNES sprites and the same battle system... and I would love it.

Honestly Chrono Trigger has not received the praise it deserves, it remains as one of the best rpg's of all time, and definatly deserves a remake, whether Squaresoft will realise this is an uncertainty, in my opinion its right on level with some of the best Final Fantasy's in the series.

awesome video clip. this game is my all time favorite rpg. this was the first rpg that took me by surprise (storyline wise). does any of you know if an anime was ever made based on this game? and has anyone ever wonder why the hero doesnt talk throughout the whole game?

It;s sad Square Enix stopped the development. I would really like to see more. (About remakes in 3D. I most cases the game play would chance. Especially FF7 and Chrono Trigger.

Square should take the hint that its fans want chrono trigger and final fantasy 7 remade, they could even use the new final fantasy 13 engine and the games would look absolutely amazing and would get terrific sales

I gotta feeling though, that we'll see quite a few EPIC remakes in the next few years. Square is just playing it right. if your gonna make an epic remake of an epic classic game, you cant rush things

@dsoulja85 I understand your opinion, but i don't think a remake of FF7 would be good. I mean, it would be just like FF13, a rpg with a hi-tech feel, I just think they could go in another way, making the series return to that "epic" kind of storyline (FF1 to 5) and forget the machinery for some years. And, with this, they could easily make a remake of Chrono Trigger of even Cross, both have a wonderful storyline and would work great on actual platforms.

@darkstylezvideo The reason why Square can't make a remake is because various members of the team who created this VG are not part of Square anymore. The creating members still hold partial copyrights. They are now called monolithsoft. Xenosaga who was made by Monolith team who at the time was owned by Namco was also given a cease and desist warning for the 3rd installment to the infringement in likeness of Xenogears which is a square product.

Squaresoft has no idea how big of a mistake this was. If they bought this product out it would have been an epic marketing venture and a good move for the business. Maybe one day we WILL see Chrono Trigger again, but it's a shame it wasn't sooner rather than later.

the once mighty square enix has fallen, i have been discontent since ff11. radiata stories and ff 12 were ok, but they were wrng to cancel this and ff7 remakes( why didnt they buy this??). if they fail ff 13 then my faith in the company is gone.

there was never going to be a ff7 remake. it was just a demo as far as i know. all the fanboys went crazy over the idea as a few bad parts of the game (graphics, text, etc) would be fixed with the remake
