  • This is what happens when you mess up in the Grumman Goose :L

  • Frozed, panicked and tried to horse it in the air instead of doing a Rejected Take Off.

Ownership and Airmanship don't go together most times.

  • that's a textbook landing on the flight simulator!

  • Poor turtles..........

  • Not bad for the first time.

  • Dad, can I take the seaplane?

    Sure son, be careful though.

  • Grumman Goose... When flying this bird in Flight Simulator I always wondered if those high wing floaters could, under certain circumstances, pose a problem in real life, or was it just me? Or was it Microsoft?... Now I know the answer... FSX is not that bad after all, this happens also in the computer, when things go wrong :-P :-D Hope no-one got injured

  • pose a problem? the only reason that plane wasn't upside down in the middle of the lake where the floats.

  • @shaundiedrinksdew Sure... But the fact that , when fully extended, they're still higher than the central floater (the fuselage) makes the plane tilt either to the left or right when stopped (or at slow speeds), this "height gap" under certain circumstances might produce a violent oscillation (like the one we see in the movie), that's what I meant.

  • YEh boy hang on ay

  • at the very end of the clip around :13 you can see the No. 2 prop is feathered, evidence of engine failure...amazingly strong plane!

  • Perfect example of letting the plane get ahead of you. Could have turned out a lot worse. Thx for posting.

  • ¡¡¡¡ uauuuhh!!!! Terrible el quia. Parece un potro desbocado ese avión. Un capo igual como corrige el boncha. Soy alumno PPA. Argentina, Bs As

  • Looks like a typical FSX multiplay kid

  • Pilot and Plane must be drinking!!!!

  • That's a Grumman Goose G21A!

  • Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. I guess that you're from soviet Rusha, huh? (jk)

  • Gomer Airlines

  • ..That should be good for $1.5 mil.

  • @vachief He was just trying to demonstrate the versatility of a land/sea plane.

He was still at full power???

Amazingly, that plane may have flown again that day. Prop strike to the sand may not have damaged the engine or bent tht prop. It didn't look like it bent the wing. Those Grumens are tough.

However, you do normally have to rebuild the engine after any prop strike.

If the wing strut was bent, major, major repair.

The pilot, however, is probably flying Piper Cubs again.

  • @mark0454 ..To much airplane for the pilot, looks like he paniced and cut power to late. At the end of the clip you can see the port wing is bent up at a 20 degree angle from the flaps outboard. #1 engine looks like toast, probably bent the crank as that prop dug in deep. Main spar at the wing root, more than likely tourqed up a few fasteners. Looks to me like you would have to pull the wings off an crane it onto a flat deck. I'll bet they were drinking early that night. lol

  • @vachief Yea, I see that wing now after watching it again. You know your airplanes. Are you an A/P?

  • @mark0454 ..I was...I retired after 22 years in aviation maintenance. I kind of feel sorry for those guys...hope they had deep pockets.

  • @vachief Hey, can you come down and do the annual on my Arrow so I can take it out of the hangar? I will buy you two hot dogs for a dollar at the convenient food store.

  • @mark0454 ..No way...for that I would require 2 regular Tacos, a medium fry and a large chocolate shake from Jack-in-the Box or half ownership of the said airplane. Why don't you read the book and do it yourself? Nobody says you have to take your wife with you on the check ride. lol

  • @vachief I do a great deal of the annual myself. I take off all the inspection plates, take out the spark plugs, take off the couling, change the oil, send off the oil sample.pressure wash the engine, put the spark plugs, change the tires, belts, etc.

All my mechanic does is inspect, scope and chech the cylinder pressure, torque the spark plugs record and signs the books.

I put it all back together and we take a test drive, and I trade him out for something. Problem is getting him to it.

  • @mark0454 ...Yeah....a lot of guys do it that way. I'm not a small plane guy anyway, but my understanding is that if actually own the plane yourself, you can sign the book off. Doing a compression check is relatively simple and a good tester can be had for $100. same thing with the torque wrench. Being a small plane mechanic sounds like a tough way to make a living, if you need the guy to come out, you want to sweeten the pot a bit. Gold coins or cash work well. lol

  • 100 perfect landings so far, make that 101

  • Was that a Grumman Wigdeon??

  • this is endlees summer 2 the surf movie

  • @fakedreams25 i noticed.. as soon as it hit land, it wrecked lol

  • Is it real? If it is, its amazing, one video in a million!!!

  • No really. I always fly better when I'm stoned.

  • even a monkey or a woman would have shut down the throttle at the first drift.....

  • i like the look of the plane and damn its a tough one to!

  • Captain announcement "Please fasten your seatbelt, we may encounter some mild turbulence...."

  • is that how the terrorist land their planes?

  • @fintogive

terrorist dont land them they use them to crash into things lol

  • @lambymx69 i konw that why i said that cause they don't land ^^

  • hold on to your butts...

  • FAIL ^^

  • "honey, I'm home!"

  • tremendo piloto que no se murio nadie jajaja

  • This is from Endless Summer II

  • JIIIIIIHAAAA

  • Shit! just a few more seconds and I would of had it airborne.....:)

  • Ah fuck , i almost had it .. :L

  • lol opps did i do that?

  • ahh grumman gooses are pretty unstable

  • this was captain balu :-)

  • dude !!! you just broke ya plane !!

  • TO HELL WITH POT I NEED SOME COKE LOL

  • i tryed to sniff coke once but an ice cube went up my nose

  • god damn it i missed those inocent bystanders i was trying to runover well im gunna go back to boats

  • Wow...thank God they walked away from it. Could have been a tragedy.

  • what a shame to wreck a classic seaplane like that :(

  • it would only have been a shame if no one was there with a camera !

  • grumman goose. there are bigger gooses, but this ones is the easiest to fly. i dont understand how it happened.

  • nice park job!! "thats good leave it right there!" totally meant to park like that.

  • if you noticed, the floats on the wings weren't fully extended, that could've been prevented if they were

  • Every crash you can walk away from is a good one

    Rotor McKvakk

  • any landing you can walk away from...........

  • wow what a fail.

  • definitely not bad for winding up in the sand

  • could have done without the stupid sound effects...

  • what sound effects?

  • wholly shit.

  • Gota shit Gota shit !!!

  • the pilot sucks!

  • love that movie!!! endless summer2 is the shiz!!!

  • No flaps out and to short strip?

  • drifting is not for airplanes silly :P

  • 307, its sad you go around calling people rich idiots and retards. The pilot that was flying this is a war veteran, retired airline pilot. He lost the right engine on Takeoff. The truth is this video was shot by a camera crew for the movie Endless summer 2 as someone else mentioned. The footage of the normal takeoff would have been in the movie. The aircraft was also used to transport film crew and execs from the west side of Costa Rica to the reserve on the East side because roads are so bad.

  • I appologize for my comments, I'm not saying all rich guys that own these planes are idiots, but a lot of them are and they think that the high performance WWII fighter they just bought is like flying the Cessna 172 they learned to fly in. WRONG!!!! WAY DIFFERENT, then they crash the plane and then it's another piece of history gone that our kids wont get to see fly.

  • Yeah, you should do your research. The pilot of this plane recovered from an engine fail during takeoff, quite well, I might add. He and all aboard could have easily ended up dead, but probably only ended up with bumps and bruises.

  • dude you can get this plane for 12 grand

  • You rich idiots need to stick to the home builts and piper cubs and leave the war birds and rare aircraft alone. You run out and buy a P-51 and climb in the cockpit and think you're Bud Anderson but you have no idea how to fly those aircraft and you end up crashing the fucker.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm really glad we have rich RETARDS that are really good at destroying pieces of aviation history. That's a Grumman Goose, kind of a rare airplane. Thank God it's made by the IRON WORKS. "Grumman" for all you dummys.

  • Need for speed Aircrafts on water.

  • I'm surprised the pilot and plane handled it that well...could've gone much worse from the start of the video...

  • The plane handled it so well beacause it was built by Grumman which was nick named The Iron Works by pilots over the years because the have a rep for building the strongest airplanes in the world. They built the F-14 Tomcat and many many other fighters and support aircraft.

  • Ahhhh only minor dents.. they will buff right out..lol

  • dont drink and drive

  • I love the GOOSE, why such abuse on a rare bird.

  • If this wasn't staged, I'd expect to see the people on shore running for their lives. Ok video.

  • is this from one of the scenes in endless summer 2?

  • And thats where they got the plane for Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

  • that aircraft is tuff

  • yea they are, they used them in the military i think

  • Yea the U.S. used the Goose in WWII for to transport sailors to and from ships, also supply and cargo to remote islands in the Pacific, and other Maritime roles.

  • That's one tough bird.

  • @twal1011 I guess it's got a birdbrain... Anyone? hahah

  • lol...............what an idiot

  • Looks like the floats on his wings never came down, that would of kept the plane straight, even with that why did the pilot keep on the gas? :p

  • Because it wasn't a takeoff or a landing. It was for a shooting. The pilot was told to pull up to the shore as fast as possible. If it was a landing or a takeoff, he'd have never gone towards the shore.

  • A shoot for what, Oh and some times float planes cant help where there going on take off once they go even with the rudders.

  • Dunno what the shooting was for. Probably a commercial.

And any pilot who evens the rudders before properly aiming their plane is pretty.. stupid.

  • phhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha!!!!!!

  • Poor Grumman

  • Why would a someone damage to the point of getting kill a sea vintage aircraft.. a flying marvel of engineering lol.. Thats crazy..

  • did they even got o school to drive a plane

  • you should see him fly a car

  • those people walking around dont a fu** they dont even flinch.

  • nice....

  • Apparently this happend in Costa Rica about ten years ago when a team of American surfers were filming a movie/documentary about surfing in Costa Rica. The movie is called Endless Summer II and there are some clips of this movie here on YouTube. It seems that the pilot was an American guy living in Costa Rica at the time, who had a Grumman Goose. According to the movie this beach is called Ollie's Point, though I sincerely doubt of it, because OP is located within a restricted flying area.

  • well that sucks.

  • Must have been a girl piloting that plane :D

  • yeah, not too good at parking... lol Now let's be serious though! There are some good female pilots out there!

  • that crash is expensive, i hope he/she didnt broke the propeller.

  • The broken Propeller is going to be the least of your problems in a wreck like that. I doubt that plane is even salvageable.

  • Comment removed

  • Yep came in too fast and he was going to try to make the bend in the river but to fast. caused a chain reaction

  • Major truth, was said how many times in the movie between friends? Today truth is a lonely word and you hope you live to tell of your daring youthful days. It pays off in the long run to be good.

This was also on Tv a few years ago ; P

  • "Major ' Truth" was said how many times between friends in the movie? & today it's a lonely word and hope you live to tell of your days young at heart (it was on tv a few years ago?) ; P

  • The plane was full of German tourists racing to get to the beach first.

  • YaY :D That's the Gromman Goose :D

  • Alright so someone needs to go back to pilots school and take there how not to land a plane on a beach class.

  • drives like my mum

  • lol

  • This sequence is from the documentary movie of bruce brown: ENDLESS SUMMER II. It's about surfing. But bruce also like extreme mechanicals sports... as you can see....

  • That looks exactly like my R/C Seawind EP the first time I tried to take off!

  • Another textbook landing by Launchpad McQuack

  • Best Comment Ever.

  • wtf the people on the beach doesnt even care!

  • thats exactly what i was gonna say!

  • Bloody women pilots

  • WILD GOOSE!

  • well thats one way to beach an amphibian

  • lol and ouch

  • that's not a bad landing. Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. and any landing you can use the plane again is a great landing

  • He should have been flying a Beechcraft.

  • i wanna ride!!!

  • nice video

  • That's what happens when you let your three year old drive

  • well... were here!

  • thanks for the xplaination bytheway.

  • haha, i've hand a thumbs down before but never for a simple question. lol.

  • HAHA!!! This clip is from an AWESOME surf movie called The Endless Summer

  • what the hell happened? does anyone know, seems some kind of control cable failure, or if an engine failure happened during the takeoff run the yaw could have done this?

  • this clip was taken during a movie shoot. The pilot started his takeoff run a little further up the river from where he had done so several times previously. At lift-off he noticed a power cable in his path and put the airplane back down again. The airplane was repaired and is back flying again.

  • lol

  • What no brakes?

  • Whoever engineered those wings earned his money, not till they gouge the sand do they even appear to break, solid.

  • very well said.

  • I was the one who filmed this, I also have it on my channel too.

  • Tokyo Drift xD

  • holy shit thats real

  • lol, Foster Brooks learns to fly.

  • Like a glove! LOL!

  • lol

  • TAHT SUCKS!!!!

  • Damn. I'm also a tool that posts the dumb 'fake' comment. You stole my thunder sir.

  • don't drink and drive, don't drink and fly

  • This is why females shouldn't be pilots or drive

  • thats a gurman ghosse

  • thats a scene from the surf movie "The Endless Summer II"

  • Hey Mr Pilot...what does this lever do...ooops?

  • Shit, the pilot allowed his wife to have a go.

  • drifting on water :-D

  • got out of control - hard to correct obviously.

    keep armchairing

  • imagine being in there!!! lol

    PILOT: oooh shit... lol

  • I think thats how your supposed to land

  • He believes he is a drifter ;D

  • hahaha damn that was crazy

  • Don't tell me.......... Jamaican pilots?

  • YA MON!!!

  • yeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa! Hey everybody were back with the beer. Whoooooohoooooo!

  • Look mum i got my pilots licence :)

  • The pilot was doing a conversion to land take off rating !

  • Wsan't this from the endless summer II?

  • what the fuck the people on the beach just fucking stand about 100ft away from the motherfuckin plane there like, "hey look its wonna them ugh.....orka whales there."

  • I love how some people just stand there watching. I would be concerned about the plane coming my way...

  • thats because you are american.. and like all americans you would be running around screaming OH MY GOD OH MY GOD.. I dont wanna die!!!! you are such pussies

  • That's because we have enough intelligence to get the hell out of the way of something bigger than us you noob.

  • o maybe because you are all afraid of death and are fucking cowards

  • I won't speak for anyone else or maked retarded generalizations like you, but maybe some of us value life enougth than to just throw it away. You sound like a 3-world country terrorist.

  • yeah I dont see anyone dying in tihs video... and you better not speak to me anymore or I my blow up your computer from here..lol terrorist.. thats the only word you can think of.. you dont know better
