  • bought one today. so so happy.

  • 1:33 Aqualung!!

  • would it be better to get this or a fulltone ultimate octive?

  • @FlamesMiller

I have a muff and a joyo ultimate octave, i would take the muff if i had to choose. Joyo Ultimate Octave is a clone of a Foxx Tone Machine. It's not as organic as the Big Muff, and from what I understand a few of the diodes are reversed from the original Tone Machine schematic so it doesn't sound the same. Also, the Joyo is crappily made, mine arrived with a broken LED and every now and then all the treble disappears until I bump it properly. Out of breath

  • @FlamesMiller If you're a Queens of the Stone Age fan(just guessing, because it seems not many others know about the Fulltone UO), I'm going to suggest the Ultimate Octave.

  • I'll admit to having some bias in favor of a '70s Fuzz Vibe', but still, after watching scores of fuzz box demos on YT, I'd have to say that this is THE most impressive Fuzz pedal I've heard. I think it sounds better that all those boutique pedals, many of which cost 3+ times more.

    Well done EHX!

  • ...when your in my head...

  • I think this pedal sucks ! i have it a year now but it's so fucking muddy!!! i've rqther go for a vintage muff or a russian or the ramshead ofcourse!!

  • @takkieaaa it's muddy, bcos it's a fuzz pedal

  • Go by the original dude, it's more dynamic. Watch to the Gearmandude's review, there's a noticeble difference between this and the original Pi.

  • If I swich the tone and the wicker off, does this sound like a regular Big Muff pedal?

  • .....ehhhh AQUALUNG!!!

  • THE SWORD!!!!!!!!

  • In my heead !

  • MY NAME IS JONAS!

  • jethro tull!! that makes me want to buy a pedal

  • Nirvana and Queens of the Stone Age....great review

  • @pdxtone

    nothing. he doesn't need pedals.

  • @gramhyro14 LOL. He owns like a dozen big muffs, and Pink Floyd would sound bloody awful without all the delay. Oh wait, pedals.

  • Nice pedel--pretty good sound.

  • What would David Gilmour do?

  • @pdxtone haha nice!

  • is this better than the original?

  • @lawrence096 its better in the way that you can now be more versitile with youre tone you get out of the Bigg Muff, then again if you dont feel like paying extra just for those extra tone controls you should just buy the regular Bigg Muff. in the end its the same pedal and the same basic sound, just with 2 extra switchs.

  • Nice Sword riff!!

  • jethro tull suck

  • i have this, i pretty much keep the tone switch off all the time. the wicker makes a lot of nose but maybe thats just me. this pedal is fucking sweet

  • 1:31 Aqualung.

  • did i just hear my name is jonas at the end?

  • Great great videos my friends. Keep it up.!

  • HELL YEAH THE SWORD!!!!! Andy always delivers.

  • is this any good to play hendrix?

  • @sicknessguitar87 yeah man! sometimes I mix it with an overdrive (the OLD voodoo lab ovedrive is the one i have) to enhance bass and create a natural octave fx

  • @sicknessguitar87 yes! lol hendrix used an original one. The original one is about 10-20 bucks cheaper

  • aqualung xD

  • I agree with the description that this seems to be the most versatile Big Muff. Thinking about getting one. Thanks for this great demo. You always do great pedal demos.

  • @TheArabmobile1 freya by the sword

  • what was that song in the beginning?!

  • @TheArabmobile1 that's the beginning of Aqualung by Jethro Tull

  • @TheArabmobile1

skat4evr9 is RIGHT. its Freya by The Sword!

  • I think this thing is better than the original NYC Big Muff. Good size, more versatile and more balanced sound. Great demo Andy!! ;)

  • The best big muff(size of the little big muff with the tone wicker) Incredible

  • That Big Muff makes me a Super Smiling Smiley

  • whats the first song he played?

  • @TimbaztiCc "Freya", by The Sword.

  • I want to know whether I can connect my Boss Loop Station RC-3 and Boss GE-7 together with this, and feed them from a power supply with several 9V outputs without any risk of problems. As far as I understand, the cable polarity is the same as on the Boss pedals, i.e. negative center and positive shield, but some people say this pedal has positive ground unlike the Boss pedals. Is this true, and is it true that this could brick the pedal if connected to the Boss pedals?

  • does this thing use batteries or a adaptor?

  • @DukeSecom both ;)

  • @DukeSecom adapter only dude.

  • 4:45 my name is jonas fail. but as a weezer fan, hearing a weezer song played in a PGS demo is still pretty awesome

  • Aqualung, FTW!

  • so this is basically a fuzz and distortion in one pedal?

  • My name is Jonas!! Got a box full of your toyyyys! :D Great sound!

  • 4:00 IN MY HEAD YESSSSSS. Im totally going to enjoy this pedal once i buy it. Now i need an overdrive pedal...

  • does this big muff have a regular 9 volt adapter plug in not like its bigger version which is a cunt and uses a different adapter the 9.6. i was so pissed when i bought the big muff pie and found it it used a diff 9 volt, as if im gonna use up one more plug for one pedal.

  • @sweetsoriano i just have an ordinary little big muff, i would say this one is worth it, this ones got a much fuzzier tone. play it you self though.

  • Would this be good for stuff like White Stripes/Nirvana/QoTSA/Smashing Pumpkins?

or i should get another muff

  • @Eldererr Definetely White Stripes and Smashing Pumpkins. Maybe the others too.

  • @Eldererr As far as i know, Jack White uses a regular Muff. But this pedal seems a bit more versatile

  • @Eldererr it depends. i use the big muff pi, the nyc edition, and i can get great tones for the stripes and smashing pumpkins. it works for me, but this pedal (tone wicker) does seem to be a bit more features and sounds. either one would be fine. besides the tone/wicker switches, the nyc edition has a fatter sound too i have noticed. both are great

  • @Eldererr This is excellent for Smashing Pumpkins, I own one and I can get pretty close to the Siamese Dream sound with it

  • Would this pedal sound good with a bass? Or should I just buy a bass fuzz?

  • @telecasterman18 sounds nice with bass

i mean i only have the original big muff and this sounds freakin awsome with bass so ithink this will be awsome too

  • how does it compare with the original? idk what to get man!

  • Les Paul - Jonas Brother´s choice ... nuff said

  • @Oudl3000 Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss....GOOD CALL!!

  • @Oudl3000 How innocent. And I suppose you think Kermit the frog gets to choose his lines?

  • @Oudl3000 Les Paul - Most rock guitarists' choice... stop bitching.

  • @circuitryofthewolftv

it`s still a choice, every single person playing guitar has his own opinions and tastes, i personaly do not like les pauls at all, but that`s me, so you stop bitching

  • Does anyone have real experience comparing the BIG M to the tone wicker ....is there that nice tube sag sound with the tone wicker model..and can the tone wicker get the exact same sound as the BIG M if wanted....

  • What song was that around 3:40? Does anybody know?

  • @Guitar0Alec I'd like to know what that riff is too. It starts around 3:25. Did you find out? Thanks.

  • Weezer :D

  • the distortion sounds like shitttt.

  • The Sword in the intro... dude, Andy your taste is just impeccable.

  • yep..i'll be getting this one

  • Hey I was wondering, is there really a differnce between this and the Big Muff Pi w/ Tone Wicker? Like is with tone wicker worth the extra money?

  • I would like to know if it is beneficial to buy this pedal instead of the original big muff pi, or if there is any difference in terms of sounds even when the tone switch is on and the wicker switch is off.

  • @MrKRios I gave you a thumbs up because I would also like to know

  • @MrKRios depends. I have owned both at the same time before, to me, with the wicker off, this sounds the same as the original. If you are a guy who doesnt mess with the knobbies, buy the original, if you love messing with all the tonal variations, get this. (I sold my original muff, and only use this, as it is way more versitile, and smaller on my board)

  • this one or the mad professor fire red fuzz?

  • the tone wicker is wicked

  • Jethro Tull ruuuuulllleeezzzzz!!!!!!!

  • I don't know why I just can't get into the fuzz no matter how much I try to enjoy that flavor.

  • @MARKYADOKOROX LOL! Agreed.

  • i bought this pedal a few days ago AND I LOVE IT!!! the switches add even more possibilities to the already amazing big muff. definitely recommended.

  • My name is Nick Jonas @4:42 .

  • @1996songwriter stfu

  • i had this pedal and it was shit it made me hate fuzz :(

  • I didn't understand: does the wicker work separately from the tone circuit? what does the tone wicker do exactly?

  • @Alaska1925

High Pass filter/booster. Yes it works out of the tone circuit, so it works with it on and off.

  • is there point in getting this when I have already have a distortion (boss ds-1)?

  • @sprocketrsvr if it dosent give you the sound you want then then go for it

  • @sprocketrsvr Hell yes, i got both and they DONT sound the same

  • @sprocketrsvr Yeah, this fuzzier and gives you more sustain. The ds1 is basically the same as the gain knob on your amp.

  • Until @4:00 I was really considering waiting for the back order on Devi Ever's Disaster pedal, but that tone is EXACTLY what I've been looking for (and the QOTSA probably influenced my choice a bit).

Thanks for having the best pedal reviews on the net!

  • THE SWORD!!!!!!

  • @nextevh192837 FREYAAAA! FUCK YEAH! ù.ù

  • Aqualung + queens of the stoneage= awesome demo XD

  • big muff pie

  • dude. The Sword , ZZ Top and Jethro Tull in one demo :o

    you fucking rock

  • When the 'wicker' is enabled , Is the background hum/hiss noise from the amp supposed to increase in volume ? i know there is always going to be some with a fuzz pedal but with the wicker on (especially with the tone and sustain rolled up) , The noise from my amp can be fairly loud.

  • WEEZER!!!!!!!!!! FTW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • In Soviet Russia, guitar plays YOU!!

  • @FlankinspanK LOL!

  • Can anybody tell me how to get this thing to work with heavy surfer reverb?

I want to keep the reverb intact but with kinda thick muff gain too

I'm finding it quite impossible lol

  • fuck yeah stoner metal and jethro tull!

  • whats the first riff he plays?? its on the tip of my tongue

  • @preachingconch

not 100% at all, but it sounds a bit like the muse 'headup' riff

  • @preachingconch It's a song by The Sword.

  • I thought that Pi sign was a rooster head somehow...

  • So Im not sure if I buy the Little Big Muff or this one with the wicker..... Is it worth it to get the wicker instead of little, for additional 40$????

  • @Starlite992

definitly worth it imo... the wicker makes this pedal more useable in my band...

  • QOTSA Fuck Yeah :D

  • Andy, loving the QOTSA in these big muff demos. Keep it up!

  • @JohnRegular180 The opening song is from the Austin-based The Sword.....just fyi.

  • Any tried this on bass?

I imagen it would sound a bit like that 'indie' bass fuzz tone because its so terribly. Any help would be great thanks!

  • Does this pedal have a true bypass signal when it is not engaged?

  • Is this a distortion pedal, a fuzz pedal, or both? Please Answer!!!

  • @26ZS fuzz

  • QOTSA ftw

  • just ordered this today. can't wait.

  • is this essentially the Big Muff Pi with an extra setting? In short would it be best to purchase the original Big Muff or the Big Muff w/ wicker?

  • @VenusVagabond I have this pedal, and have played multiple original big muff pi's. This pedal is basically just like the orig when the tone is on and the wicker is off. I would suggest you buy this one, because its not that much more expensive and it has more features. not to mention its a lot smaller! saves a lot of pedalboard space!

  • question. can this be plugged in to a line 6 half stack. yes i know they already have settings and ways to make different distortioin but i barley see anyone plugging a pedal and the pedalboard together can it be done?????????

  • So I'm in search for my first fuzz pedal. I've never owned one so I'm not really sure what to look for. Would you suggest going for this or something from Devi Ever? I was looking at the Hyperion or maybe even for a more expensive Rocket for fuzz tones ala Smashing Pumpkins, Silversun Pickups, etc and maybe some sludgey doom metal tones.

  • @punkmusicmetal the hyperion is more of a classy distortion then a fuzz, and the rocket is two pedals, one of which is great for what you want. But what you probably ant is something like her new pedal, the devi ever ZG. It isn't too big that you'll be shoe gazing the whole show, but it's fuzz is absolutely amazing and thick.

  • @L7dreamtheaterfan Are some of the tones on the Wicker considered "fuzz" though? I mean, the first riff seemed really fuzz-like, but not like other fuzz's I've heard. The problem with some of the fuzz's I've heard, they seem really thin and hissy (for lack of better words). I don't want it to be that thin...

  • @L7dreamtheaterfan since when was shoegazing fuzz? There were plenty of shoegaze bands that didn't use fuzz at all: i.e. Lush, Slowdive, etc. Shoegaze was all about use of lots of layered effects

  • @punkmusicmetal coming from one pumpkin fan to another. I'd recomend you getting this pedal, or either Big Muff Pi; considering Billy Corgan relied upon it to make Gish, And Siamese Dream.so yeah..but Devi Ever has some great pedals too. but then again the Big Muff basically laid out the work of Pumpkins tone.

  • just ordered this off ebay i cant wait to get some pi

  • The Chuck Norris Of Guitars.

  • Which artist plays the song at 4:00???

  • @TrulsEnstad Queen's of the Stone Age i think

  • @Airicology In My Head

  • Man, PGS reviews are brilliant and I could watch them all day!

I wish he'd use a Tele every now and then when reviewing OD or Fuzz pedals though. ;(

  • @stardustfbi i could easy watch them all day to! there great !

  • guitar hero and rockband player would love this demo

  • can this pedal do srv and hendrix well?

  • @dchim2 3:30, its purple haze. Or atleast a try to purple haze. Oh wait, its just his own version

  • @dchim2 Hendrix yes, SRV not so much. You'd probably want more of an Overdrive Pedal or a Tube Screamer for more southern rock-y blues like Stevie did, but Hendrix's more overdriven sound digs on fuzz pedals like these. In fact, the original Big Muff Pi was modeled after Hendrix's sound. It did a pretty okay job, too.

  • @dchim2 This muff can do anything. I love stacking it's tone bypass and wicker with a higher gain setting on my amp. It makes an insane boost for metal rythms and can do bluesy stuff if you use a low gain with a wicker.

  • 4:00 In my head? ;)

  • jethro tull

  • freya

  • If a Strat's a Man's guitar. Then a Les Paul is Chuck Norris' guitar.

  • @olliedabomb999 yeah, but Steven Seagall played a strat

  • @olliedabomb999

    Very well said!

  • @olliedabomb999 A schecter is Bruce Lee's guitar.

  • @FenderrMann lies grestch is

  • @olliedabomb999 come on, dude, tell me about the Gretsch and the Tele LOL

  • MY NAME IS JONAS!!

  • which is better, this one or the red big muff one?? for playing songs from silversun pickup....

  • @kebyonatin any standard bigmuff, but my choice would be the little big muff, its cheap and with the same curcuit as the original but in a smaller enclosure and with a standard 9v power supply socket (boss style) rather than the dreaded "mini jack" style power socket

  • @kebyonatin This one. The midscoop from the tradtitional tone stack can be avoided, but with the wicker switch you can still vary the tonality.

  • Mines gonna kick the BIG BIG Muff off the board when it comes :P

  • Hey, so what settings did you use to get the tone at the beginning?

  • YEAH The Sword FTW!

  • 1:44 aqualung!!

  • Jethro Tull?

  • damn, those sounds are like an orgasm. cuzz he is making sweet love to his guitar

  • the begginning kind of sounds like almost human by kiss...?

  • @p3droski it's "freya' by the sword

  • I think they sound the best through single coils. sweeter tones, but still big and chunky.

  • Man i just love the vintage tone with the strat! What kind of strat is it and what are the pickups?

  • if i buy this will it make me sound like robert fripp?

  • What's the riff at the beginning from?

  • @Astonadada Freya - The Sword

  • my name is ANDY!

  • Andy, you fckn ROCK dude! best demos in the world...are from this guy...power to make ppl to buy guitar pedals nd enjoy pure bliss...ROCK ON!!!

  • my name is big muff

  • Sitting on a park bench! I love that riff!

  • nice.... quite versatile for a big muff. guess this justifies its slightly higher price than the normal big muff. cool that u played "in my head" too.

  • lordbadgerman buy this pedal ;)

  • HEY AQUALUNG

  • the wicker helps but it's still a terrible sounding pedal, unless you like alot of muted fuzz.

  • FREYA!!!

  • Take a girl out for dinner or buy this pedal?!

  • @LordBadgerman take her with you to buy it ,maybe she will like the tone of the MUFFER and kick in a little ...lol

  • @LordBadgerman mmmm tough question!!! thinking it better , i would take the girl for dinner. but if you dont like her very much, buy this fucker!

  • QotSA, yessss.

Best pedal review videos on the tubes, keep it up.
